Was recently reminded of this fantastic innings through social media reels. Re-studied this innings from a contemporary perspective. Upon reflection, this is one hell of an innings!

It doesn’t matter how flat the deck is, facing McGrath and Warne on any deck is extremely challenging. Both bowlers at their peak too! 94-3, and the skipper plays an absolute stunner of an innings. Every time Warne flights, Yousuf obliges with a belt down the ground standing firm in his crease. None of that dancing down the track rubbish we see from so many of the batters coming through now who struggle to attack spin from their crease.

What a beautiful innings man. These players had mettle, it’s all missing now! There was a rich legacy of players we once had, and look at what we have now. So sad to see that the quality of our cricketers has gone down the drain.

Quality batters do exist. Steve smith is better then yousaf in test in everyway.

It's just that the current crop from Pakistan isn't. They don't know how to bat in test cricket plain and simple.

Babar is so weak in tests, that if a bowler and a field set is obviously designed for Babar to edge to slip on that 3rd offstump line, he'll still edge it to slip.

It's a stark contrast from someone like yousaf or smith where you actually have to plan very carefully as to what field sets you're going to place for them

One of my favourites. Really dealt with Warne in that innings.
