the australia test series will change his career

He should first try to become Parthiv Patel's successor then think about Dhoni.
)Sorry, I forgot to put my trademark smiley there.)
How's this guy *always* wrong?

Initially there was hype
Now he scores too
And keeping - well thats still a debate but i believe ita improved a wee bit !!!
Where will he end his career as ?
If he had worn the green jersey , would he have flourished in Pakistan too ? Wud he have been picked up after initially failures and keeping howlers ?
Sorry, I forgot to put my trademark smiley there.
Let me post it again.

Pant has already outscored Parthiv Patel in tests with a better average. And he's actually played fewer tests than Patel has.
In ODIs Pant is just about 200 runs short, having played half the number of games as Patel.
Patel was the typical flash in the pan. Pant is definitely showing more hunger.

: is secretly a Pant fan, he is reverse jinkxing him imo and its working Pant is blowing up...People called him a poor man's Afridi. But he's turning out to be a poor man's ABDV. If he continues the same path, he is the next AB. Great batsman, good keeper.
Pant is the combination of AB and Gilchrist. A match winner like Gilly and possess the genius of AB.
His only real test will be to handle swing and seam. His game vs pace, bounce and spin is brilliant.
Most Indians struggle vs swing. So won't be surprised if he struggles too.
Our batter's real struggle is against seam movement. Out test batters can negotiate swing, spin and bounce on par with other elite teams. They just soil their pants facing seaming conditions.

Played hideous shot today.
I know he plays this way. But let's agree that shot was poor, extremely poor considering the state we were in at that time. Lot more was expected out of him.Everyone wanted him to play aggressively and he went after a wide one. There will be failures. Can't have it both ways
I'd have this than Pujara's tuk tuk and eventually getting out

I'm not watching - how is he with his keeping in these conditions?
He is good against pace bowling.

In Test history, there have been 70 wicketkeepers to bat in 35+ Test innings. Only three - Adam Gilchrist, Andy Flower, AB de Villiers - average more than Rishabh Pant.
Played an ugly inning so far after getting dropped once on 5 but it is adding to the total so thats what matters at the moment.![]()
Thats test cricket.
Only quality batsmen make the most of dropped catches and he's done just that. These are priceless runs. Its evident things are not easy out there. 54 is the highest individual score in this test so far.

Threw his wicket just like 2019 WC Semi.
Two years and he still can't understand that had he stayed for 10 more overs today, his team might have shared trophy with Kiwis.
Moreover what I hate that people defend him by saying that's how he plays.

Agree with this. Its like giving him free pass for his senseless batting, time and time again.Threw his wicket just like 2019 WC Semi.

Rishabh Pant is one of the greatest match winner of all-time in my honest opinion. A truly once in many many generations cricketer.
Would you have Pujara's tuk tuk before he eventually gets out?Looks all tight and sound, right?
No one is asking Pujara to play like Pant OR Pant to play like Pujara.
Test cricket needs both Pujara and Pant.
You bring top order failure to defend Pant and I fully agree that top order should've performed better.
What you are ignoring is that top order batsman were out on balls tempting enough to play.
That happens with every batsman in seaming conditions.
But there is no excuse if batsman dances down the wicket and swings his bat when championship trophy is on line.
When team is 6 wickets down and you are playing to avoid defeat.
Had he controlled his urge for few more overs, India could have shared trophy with NZ.
Yes an "ICC TROPHY" that we are waiting since 2013.
The least I expect from an international player is to play to his strength BUT consider the situation first and then decide his shots.
Anyway, you can continue giving him freepass for reckless shot selection.
For me, "That's how Pant plays" has already cost India a berth in WC19 final and WTC championship trophy. (Ofcourse blame is on other players too).
And won us series in Aus.
Pant wouldn't have survived if he tried to play like top order.Doesn't have the technique
So he went for runs and it seemed to be working. He targetted the least effective bowler Boult and tried to attack. And it was a great catch which normally would fall in safe lands. It always looks ugly when it doesnt come off
If it worked we could have another 30 runs and put real pressure on NZ to even win.
Besides he's still young. Will learn to mix caution with aggression over time
Pretty much sums up your understanding of the game. Thanks!
Be patient bro. Yes he has the potential but to call him one of the greatest match winner of all-time already is a bit far-fetched

An outrageously talented batsman and a genuine match winner. Looking forward to watch him replicate the things he did in Australia once again.
He is the only batsman in the Indian squad who gets into Indian WT20 best XI without doing much of note in T20 internationals. It just tells us the kind of reputation and fear factor he possess. A truly once in many generation cricketer.

Thanks for accepting that he hasn't done anything in IT20s which means those who want him out of T20 team have a point too which should be respected. 32 T20s is a pretty good sample size. Others also deserve similar number of opportunities to showcase their talent.![]()
Who'll be your keeper for WT20 team? And what will be top 6?

Very simple answer. KL Rahul.
Rohit

Kohli
Kishan
Sky
Pandya

And what special Pant has done so far in 32 T20s? It seems you do not even want to give chance to others. Pant also got to play in the 2019 ODI world cup, not sure what had he done before that to get a chance there? There is nothing wrong in trying new players when one player has already got more than 30 matches and still looks average in that format. He is pretty lucky because there were others who were discarded before even playing 10 games for India. I can see the same happening to Shaw and Kishan in the future.![]()
You want to give chance to players in world cup? Kishan is tried in bilateral series like the ongoing SL matches but wont make a cut for world cup. Pant is the best keeper bat available in the country and is automatic selection in all 3 formats.
But as I said yesterday, you know all these very well too but just trolling.

You must be living under a rock when I was criticising Dhoni on this forum then? Or may be you only get hurt when I talk about Pant here? Pant has got 32 T20s under his belt and Kishan has played only 3. We are talking about T20s here not ODIs. He can surpass Pant pretty quickly before you even realise. He too is a youngster just like Shaw but since you worship Pant you couldn't notice that. Thanks for this.I'd replied same.
To add to this,MS Dhoni played almost 10 years without making a T20I fifty yet there was no complaint from this guy.But loves to attack youngsters
