Arguments for choosing Rohit Sharma as the limited overs captain for India:

1. Rohit Sharma is a fixture in Indian LOI side.
2. He has captained well for Mumbai Indians, and won 2 IPLs (Kohli won zero)
3. Captaincy doesnt seem to affect Rohit's batting, in fact it gets the best out of him.
4. It will not burden Kohli with the responsibility of being captain and best batsman across all 3 format. Otherwise he will get burned out very quickly, no matter how strong and motivated he is.

interesting. especially numbers 4 and 5. There's logic to them. I would really like to know what's inside Kohli's head and whether he would think it's too much. I suspect not, since he already harasses MS in ODI games about on-field tactics.

Also question marks about 'Mr. Talent's' long term future in the team. will he be there in 3-4 years? I can't be sure.

May lead to infighting and ego coming into play

Kohli is the better option. Kumble should just ask him if he wants to do it. If not, then Rohit.

Rohits capataincy in the ipl has impressed me. He seems calm and able to handle responsibility as well. Kohli will get the job though, he's vice capatin and also seems fine with handling the responsibility.

Relax, its going to be Kohli. Kohli has stood in during MSD's absence and Rahane is his VC. Maybe for ODI's they might look at Rohit as his VC.

I was pointing out that Kohli himself had said that he was foreseeing Rohit as a "future ODI captain" after he led India to a 5-0 whitewash against Zimbabwe in 2013.

A lot has changed since then. Kohli has taken over the test reigns and has shown he is capable of taking this side to the next level.

It would have made sense if Kohli wasn't a regular in ODI side like say Rahane or Raina who was orginally touted to be MSD's successor in LOI formats. But that is not the case. Kohli is India's no.1 bat in all 3 formats and having 1 captain will actually be better as he can have more control in taking this team forward.

Who said Sharma for Captaincy.😦

Bhai Virat is the best man to lead. Kash hamara paas bhi Virat jaisa player ajaye...👍

Have great hopes from Babar hopefully he will deliver soon.

It would be funny to see dhoni playing under rohit though its never going to happend

It's obvious that Kohli is going to be the captain in all formats. The BCCI should be mindful of burnout, however.

Virat should be captain. No one else comes close.

Kohli should be the next ODI captain. That much is obvious.

But should he be burdened with the T20s as well? I think Rohit can be given the T20 captaincy.

None of the major teams have the same captain for all formats and neither should India.

Kohli should be the ODI captain and Sharma/Raina can be T20 captain. India do not play many T20s anyway.

Rohit can be the T20 captain.

Tbh I don't mind him being the ODI captain as well because I don't want Kohli losing his form in test and ODI cricket due to pressure of captaincy.

Raina?

He may have played his last international game already.

He is underrated as a clutch player and always performs in pressure scenarios. Severely limited in technique but has guts and has delivered more often than not.

Rohit is massively overrated as a ODI batsmen . The guy is a choker and was gifted the opening slot and thats the only reason hes survived in the team . I dont trust him as a player , looks like another typical Mumbai product , the first priority being personal milestones and in that process if the team wins its a bonus .

And Dhoni isn't a choker? Failed in EVERY ICC TOURNAMENT he played. Dhoni is unarguably the biggest choker and arguably the biggest match loser.

I am aware Kohli is no match for Dhoni's LOI tactical skills but he will be a different kind of captain and will improve his tactical skills.

Dhoni was an amazing defensive choke opponents style LOI captain.

Virat will be a more aggressive get them down captain.

Rohit may not be in the ODI team 3yrs from now.

May be Rohit can be T20 captain.

Kohli is the right choice.

He's an ATG ODI batsman with proven captaincy success in tests.

It's an no-brainer.

Kohli's RCB have a poor record of defending huge totals. Granted they have a midget-sized ground and a mediocre bowling lineup, but Dhoni's won trophies with the latter.

Rohit isn't a tactical genius by any stretch, but he's got a better record. Much better, in fact. But, there's no way to gauge how much of MI's success is down to the stellar support staff (and Slinga Malinga) and how much of is the captain's contribution.

One thing I've noticed is Rohit (or the MI backroom again) seems to groom youngsters better. Hardik and Bumrah have progressed to the national team, while other newbies play well under him. Can't say the same for Kohli. He's a DIY captain that drags his team through the output of his own runs. If that's how he's gonna captain the national team, I fear a burnout.

I'd have Rohit captaining the T20I team, at the very least.

Rohit Sharma is not captain material. Kohli is the rightful heir to the throne
