you gonna create thread on such a topic?
Smart cricket from Rohit, I think this is India's tactics. Play out Steyn and attack the trundlers

To be honest the pitch is very juich for bowlers , against pakistan they did not make such a pitch.

How did SA make so much then?
Anyone got the video clip when finally he touched the ball with bat? i think it was 15th ball or 16th and thn crowd cheered for him

Also note how displeased Steyn was at that !the standards of the man .

i personally think that steyn bowled brilliantly and he should have gotten 3-4 wickets in his first 5 overs.
hard to believe this guy made 200 few days ago
today he was unable to put bat on ball and made 18 of 43 balls.
True but such track against Pakistan is risky because of quality seamers we have. We would probably bowl out SA under 150 on this track.
Incorrect.
Did you not see the ball whistling past the Pakistani batsmen's ears? Did you not see Steyn zipping it around all over the place?
If anything, this is slightly flatter than those Pakistan played on.
Tendulkar would not struggle that badly ever against Steyn.
He is the greatest bat ever. Why are you comparing him to Sharma when Sharma has plenty of time to go?
It was one match. Let's see if this home field beaters theory is true. As you all recall they did win the CT in England.
Philander got the ball to move appreciably and Tsotsobe got a lot more deliveries to climb just short of a length.Well none of the pitches were that fast and bouncy and heck mclaren was moving it like crazy today. Against pakistan only steyn was swinging.
There's a different between intelligent leaves and being totally owned.
C'mon guyz give steyn the credit when its due he was bowling beautifully, even bradman would have got out, and the 2nd ball bowled to kohli by steyn was total gem, kohli was totally puzzled!

In ODIs, this was one of the best display of out swing bowling I have seen in very long time. Credit to Steyn. Guy can pitch it on leg stump and then move the ball by miles. He has been bowling very well but today he was doing it brilliantly.
Also, anyone comparing Sharma with SRT or KP are missing the point. SRT had played in SA many times and he was one of the best we have seen in last 50 years. KP is more used to playing swing bowling. Anyway, KP and SRT are in different class.
This Indian team is playing in SA against SA for the first time. I don't expect them to fair very well. Guys like KP are more used to playing against swing. Sharma will be mostly a walking wicket in this tour because he has a habit of hanging his bat outside of off-stump.
I expect batting and bowling of India to not able to adjust quickly. They may settle a bit later but by then tour will be over. Anyway, Simply enjoy the Steyn's bowling and gove some credit to him. No one else looked that threatening. His spell should have gotten him many wickets.

There is a difference between Hafeez-steyn and Hafeez-Rohit. Hafeez just looked clueless against Steyn and the deliveries he got out to where not unplayable.
Yesterday's spell had class written over it, I was suprised that he didn't manage to take a wicket in his first 4 overs
same happened with wasim in many matches where in his many good spell it was always looking a wicket is coming next ball but remained wicket less in that spell. it think batsmen luck and your bad luck plays a big factor too.
Luck is always a crucial factor. But one thing you have to admit that even those wicketless spells of Wasim were crucial.
As he was troubling the batsman, they try to find alternative batsman to score run against. That particular tries to be aggressive and in the process loses his wicket. There is a saying that the best bowlers don't always get the wickets, but one must never overlook the importance of a good spell.
This is Tendulkar on Steyn - "It is definitely one of the best spells I have faced. There was good movement off the seam, in the air. Dale Steyn moves the ball consistently. Also something that was alarming was the off-the-wicket movement. Even if you felt the ball was coming straight to you, off the wicket it was moving significantly. That was something one had to be aware of.
Steyn bowled 10 overs post lunch, Tendulkar faced 48 balls, and in the remaining 12 balls Steyn took 3 Indian wickets. This is what Tendulkar had said about that spell - "On not many occasions do these things happen in your career. I remember a similar thing happening to me in Mumbai, when we played Australia [in 2001]. I was batting with Rahul. From one end Jason Gillespie bowled, and from the other end Glenn McGrath. And I played all the overs of Glenn McGrath, and Rahul played all the overs of Jason Gillespie. We hardly must have rotated strike. Similar situation, but those are the moments you never forget in life. This is definitely one of them."
Well, PPers can try to find joy in creating threads of maiden overs, but its no shame for Rohit for not been able to score of the one of the best 3 fast bowlers ever. Steyn is a legend, Rohit is just a good batsman as of now, there is absolutely no harm done by playing Steyn carefully. If SRT found Steyn as one of the best ever, then i give 8/10 marks to Rohit for not getting out to Steyn.
Thanks. Atleast someone understood my point I was trying to make from yesterday. To be honest the pitch is very juich for bowlers , against pakistan they did not make such a pitch.
i remember people criticizing amla and specially pakistani batsmen for playing slow against quality bowling in recent month and always saying its not a test match and now appreciating rohit for playing 3 maiden overs of a quality bowler without scoring in a one day match. ok fine steyn was the threat so what happened next? how many runs rohit made in other bowler overs?
the best thing in forums is that you cant edit your post after some time so your double standards are easily exposed when you criticize one person for same thing in another thread and appreciate or dont criticize another person doing same thing.
If u need 12 runs of 12 balls, and u score 2 runs of the 49th over, then that "playing slow" is not the same as playing out a couple of maiden overs in the start.
Well, SRT knows more about fast bowlers than all PP combined so respect for Steyn.
Although by no means he is in top 3. You just watch and see Kohli will annihilate him.
Heck even chota Akmal and Bhatti smacked him some boundaries. So did Khurram!
He is not in 2Ws, Imran or WI of 80s league. Its just Pak have the worst batting ever and India are coming from SC. They were unable to judge bounce
ajmal is not a kid with the ball he is like steyn with new ball because of his tight line in limited over games. Pakistan managed to lose the match when 9 runs were needed in 40 balls and 6 wickets in hand so dude it is limited over cricket where anything can happen england can choke from a winning poisition in ct final and new zealand tail ender can score 25 against herath in last over to win the match.
i just want people to be consistent with their approach if they are appreciating rohit today for leaving new ball they should understand the situation of another batsmen when they are batting against the tight line of ajmal.
