Rohit Sharma vs Dale Steyn!

dude, Steyn is a total freak, takes wickets against all opposition, and in every part of this world. Even Waqar Younis puts Steyn in the list of 3 all time best bowlers.

To say that he is not in the same league as Wasim, is like saying Warne is not in the same league as Murali.

Waqar, and IK ? Well tell me one player who would say that Waqar or IK was the best they had faced. As a bowler, Steyn would always be considered far more significant than any Pakistani bowler baring Wasim, who could be put in the same league as Steyn.

If Waqar said Steyn is in ATG top 3 then Wasim said James Anderson is the best current pacer :yk

Each fan or cricketer got his opinion so lets leave it here ;)

Time will tell who is who!

Waqar/IK bowled vs Lara/Gavaskar

who did Steyn bowled against? Hafeez :yk

Dont ever recall a batsmen getting owned so bad in the space of 3 overs as Sharma did yesterday.

Disgraceful innings chasing 360. Steyn showed this flat track bully who the boss is.

Sunday is taking too long to come.
I just can't wait for kohli vs steyn, never have I been this excited over a personal battle ever since sachin vs shoaib and sachin vs steyn.
Kohli hit to gorgeous boundaries of steyn and then got beaten by a few!epic battle!
Just can't wait!

Hopefully series will continue.. This is just too good to be missed out

Hopefully series will continue.. This is just too good to be missed out

I don't think Rohit is in the same class of kohli,Rohit sure looks more stylish while playing his shots but I think kohli is a more complete batsman overall.

Don't think the series will get re-scheduled because
1.)A lot of money is riding on the series
2.)If they make changes,i think then this tour will have to be scheduled a few years later as there is no space for India in the ftp.

Re: Rohit Faced 16 Balls against Steyn and still no runs!

So whats the difference in him and Hafeez :hafeez??

I would say it was a combination of both either way he wasn't going to score any runs of Steyn....

I watched the innings again. He went in with the right intent to try to get the measure of the wicket first. The problem was that he seemed caught in two minds and was leaving some he shouldn't have and poking at others he shouldn't have.

It was a contrast to Dhawan though who thought he was still in India and tried to hook a short ball for four and top edged it due to the extra bounce.

Steyn,what a legend!!!
I am shocked to see people on PP writing him off as an Odi bowler.Well, they got owned many times in the past whenever they doubted the ability of the great man.

he was lucky not to edge one of those half a dozen plays and misses. Not his fault it was freakish bowling but its dumb to call it good batting when it was mainly luck that helped him out there.

When a bowler is all over you , all you can do is give yourself a chance ...he survived , yes with a bit of luck ..Dumb batting would have been had he tried to cut or drive when steyn gave a little width . The restraint to what I appreciate . Dhawan on the other hand played dumb .

i remember people criticizing amla and specially pakistani batsmen for playing slow against quality bowling in recent month and always saying its not a test match and now appreciating rohit for playing 3 maiden overs of a quality bowler without scoring in a one day match. ok fine steyn was the threat so what happened next? how many runs rohit made in other bowler overs?

the best thing in forums is that you cant edit your post after some time so your double standards are easily exposed when you criticize one person for same thing in another thread and appreciate or dont criticize another person doing same thing.

The criticism for Amla or other Pak batsmen is that they dont have ability to make up for the wasted balls . They need the lower order to come and bail them out .

Quite frankly I have never critisized a batsmen for Starting slow ..but its an issue when you are consistently slow starter and put the other batsmen under pressure

Steyn bowled 10 overs post lunch, Tendulkar faced 48 balls, and in the remaining 12 balls Steyn took 3 Indian wickets. This is what Tendulkar had said about that spell - "On not many occasions do these things happen in your career. I remember a similar thing happening to me in Mumbai, when we played Australia [in 2001]. I was batting with Rahul. From one end Jason Gillespie bowled, and from the other end Glenn McGrath. And I played all the overs of Glenn McGrath, and Rahul played all the overs of Jason Gillespie. We hardly must have rotated strike. Similar situation, but those are the moments you never forget in life. This is definitely one of them."

Yah, that spell was one of the best I saw from Steyn. A gun bowler in full flow against a gun batsman in full flow - that's what make this cricket great to watch.

You just watch and see Kohli will annihilate him.
Heck even chota Akmal and Bhatti smacked him some boundaries. So did Khurram!

He is not in 2Ws, Imran or WI of 80s league. Its just Pak have the worst batting ever and India are coming from SC. They were unable to judge bounce

Yaah, as if 2Ws, Imran or WI of 80s were never smacked.

Waqar/IK bowled vs Lara/Gavaskar

who did Steyn bowled against? Hafeez :yk

Steyn has bowled against SRT & Ponting. In fact, he has bowled in an era where batsmen have dominated. It's not his fault that Hafeez is opening for Pakistan.

No point defending the Indian bowlers and batsmen.

Rohit looked like a tailender. I am not saying he is a poor batsman, or won't succeed against Steyn and party, but this particular inning was a poor one.

Good Observation.. Oh by the way Ricky Ponting headed to my way today, off to get his autobiography signed... ;)

So are we ready for tomorrow :13:

LOL @ "I think he played really well"

Must be great fun playing international cricket with fans like this. :msd

If Dhawan can see off the first 1 hour of play, he will be a huge pain in the butt for SA.

Hopefully Dhawan survives.

Rohit has to show the same application against Steyn that he showed in ODI's. Just do not thrw your wicket away. Runs can be scored of Kallis, Tahir or philander after initial overs

Somehow I always believed Rohit Sharma in Tests is a different player from Rohit, the ODI player. Now he has the time to buy.. Don't be surprised if he scores few runs

India is another country where first class batting averagea are misleading .

This guy Sharma is such a fraud . Always makes easy runs .
Lol @ people who think he has better talent and technique than kohli .
Aesthetically pleasing stroke player . Thats all.

Guys, the battle is back.

Rohit Sharma has booked his flight ticket to SA with this century against a deflated, tired, poor Lankan attack on a flat track.

If a player from another country scores a test century then he secures his place in the test team for near future. Here some people are mourning the fact that Rohit Sharma after his century would get to play in South Africa. He will find South African bowling not much different from Sri Lankan bowling, I feel.

The guy has 3 50s and 1 century in his last 4 tests. Apparently he is useless.

If the ball comes in straight line he may be able to survive. If Steyn unleashes his potent weapon the outswing that starts outside the leg stumps ends up at off stump he will be clueless. Steyn got the better of guys like Clarke with that ball. Rohit will struggle. But if the ball doesn't swing he may be able to make some runs.

I'm pretty sure that even an injured Dale Steyn would still own Talent Sharma 10 times out of 10. Friendship quota running wild in the Indian team brother..
