Russell Arnold picks his all time World Cup XI and this is how it stacked up

1. Sachin Tendulkar
2. Jayasuriya
3. Sangakara
4. Ricky Ponting
5. De Silva
6. Javed Miandad
7. Viv richards
8. Kapil Dev
9. Chaminda Vaas
10. Shane warne
11. Brett Lee

People were saying Afridi’s XI was biased, i don’t think this one is much better. Definitely not who I would have gone for.

What are your thoughts do you think it is a worthy XI and would it go on to win a World Cup?

Guy picked Vaas over Wasim, one of 4 Lankans ..... and yet some how managed to miss Murali. This list is not only biased, but racist as well - he didn't pick the ethnic Tamil Hindu cricketer, who happens to be BY FAR the greatest Test & ODI cricketer of his country.

Looks a good team, just replace Warne with Murali , Miandad with Jayawardene and who do you replace Viv with , maybe Marvan Atapattu?

Picked 4 Sri Lankans and left Murali of the list. You couldn’t write it!

ITs the 'let me publish a world XI because I am currently irrelevant' season again.

Viv at 7?
Vaas in the WC World XI?

Jayasuriya, De Silva and Sanga at least have played significant roles in World Cups.

Wasim - 38 matches 55 wickets 23.34 average 4.04 ECO 2 MOM ( one in WC final )

Vaas - 31 matches 41 wickets 21.22 average 3.97 ECO 3 MOM

It isn't absurd to pick Vaas over Wasim IMO

Vaas's record in WC. Surprisingly no match vs Pakistan.

If people only selected teams based on stats then most teams would be same... you need too look into more than only stats.

Everything is not based upon numbers as some posters are trying to portray here. Its about creating the impact in the key moments and matches which Akram did in 1992 and onwards in WCs.

Those trying to prove how Vaas should be in that XI should also tell the why no other famous expert has Vaas in his WC team?

Also surprised on Lee over Mcgrath.

Wasim's world cup record is actually inferior to Zaheer Khan's.

In world cups :-

Zaheer > Vaas & Wasim

Quite eye opening indeed.

Those 2 deliveries in the final were amazing but it looks like Wasim delivered quite below his standards in the world cups

Exactly! These stat gurus don’t understand that!

I think he misunderstood, somebody asked him to pick the best Sri Lankan XI

Pretty sure he is Tamil catholic. He probably believes Murali chucks or Warne is just a better spin bowler.

Bhai, Russel is also a Tamil. Tamil Christian.

Didn't know that, but I have absolutely no other clue why that Murali guy will miss out, after 4 other Lankans were picked. He is arguably a sure shot for AT Test & ODI XII. I don't agree with that Russell had an issue with Murali's action (Shouldn't be either as long as ICC isn't erasing those 1300+ wickets), because I have heard him defending that many times, but may be he did that for a fellow Lankan without owning it.

Lol.

Afridi s was a far far superior and unbiased team.

Look at this one.

But, he made it count when it mattered most.

Yes. Just saying.

He is right up there but Zaheer's had a better overall run at the world cups. Instrumental in our dream run in the 2003/2011 world cups. He choked in the 2003 final, its hard to forget otherwise a stellar world cup record for Zaheer.
