Saw a video on FB of Roger Waters reading out the English translation of this poem, so searched for the original one on the YouTube, there's something about this poem and the way Aamir recites it, feels like it's straight outta his heart.

Perhaps oppression and tyranny has it's dark side but it certainly brings out the best from the artists who see these things unfold and write down some of the masterpieces.

Khalis Urdu....

May Allah be with him, he now has a massive bulls-eye on his back for the BJP/RSS terrorists to target.

A super hit for the IS the Indian Mujahadeen etc. 5 stars! Amazing cherry picking and victim mentality as always!

The govt in Maharashtra wants to provide 5% reservation for Muslims in education. I hope Indian muslims come out in force to protect the constitution and write inqilab in the stars for this gross injustice that goes against secularism.

Yes - some one with an opposing view is a Nazi. Cheers!

No! someone promoting Nazism is Nazi.

Person in the video is opposing Nazi views that has been taken up by RSS, so that makes him anti-nazi.

wasn't that difficult.

So someone who does not agree to cherry picking and victim mentality is promoting Nazism.

Stereotype much?

Care to explain why you have mentioned the IS and indian mujahideen in response to the video?

Look at the visuals and the words used. Don't need to look beyond that.

"The attrocities afflicted on us". Victim mentality 101.

When a Hindu terrorist kill a fellow Indian Muslim it is a communal violence, riots always happen in India, it’s India, or whatever excuse, but when a Muslim fight back then it is terrorism or when acknowledged violence against Muslim then its victim mentality.

Text book brain washing with cherry picking.

I have said this where?

So because someone shouts against injustices hes automatically a radical or inciting violence?

Great logic Dont address the issues or look into the root causes but label the people extremist

The us vs them narrative used in the video is what makes it dangerous. But sadly people will not see how this is divisive.

But like I said - plays right into the playbook of the IM/ISIS etc.

Id say the indian so called govt are the ones that have actually used this narrative to a T

Theyre the ones you should be criticising for their dangerous rhetoric after whats gone on over the last few months

Plays right into the radical RSS narrative

? We are discussing this video right? Are you saying the Indian govt asked this guy to make this an Us vs Them video?

Id say the govts policies and their rhetoric which has led to the recent communal violence in delhi has contributed to this and many other people feeling aggrieved and frustrated

Would you not agree?

I'd love to understand which policy has the govt instituted that makes it ok for someone to incite violence, call for revolution (?), etc. and says that ppl of one religion should unite? What does Kashmir have to do with this? Also, when rioting on streets (specifically talking about what happened in Dec and the Jamia incident since they are shown in the video) - what would happen in say the US/UK?

I watched the video with a neutral attitude.

Didn't see visuals of head chopping or kids holding ak47. The poet was waving his hand and not flaunting a knife. Not even a single word inciting violence.

Calling this a super hit for IS is an obvious exaggeration beyond doubt reeking of insecurity.

The BJP leaders incite violence on a daily basis

Do you have an issue with that?

Us vs them is the typical IS mentality. Exaggerating victim mentality is IS mentality. Saying that we need to fight back (against what?) is victim mentality.

If you truly were neutral you would understand that.

Again discussing this poem... but sure if the BJP loudmouths make a ******* video showcasing Hindu victim mentality - I would have the same thing to say. Problem is people don't call this out this when they tacitly agree with the sentiment of the words.

If you truly were neutral you would understand that.

And if you were looking at it from a independant stance youd see this has nothing to do with IS

Why youd bring a radical violent group into this is beyond comprehension

Id be asking questions why him and many others feel this way Calling this video as a tool for radical elements does you no favours but shows your bigotry against this community

Do the video and poem not have an Us vs them mentality? Is this not incendiary? Do they not selectively show instances which promotes hatred?

The problem is perhaps because you are blinded to these things and prefer to call others bigots. Also I would love some answers to the questions in my previous posts since you seem to think this video is justified in its content and intent.

I've understood your motives.

You like to exaggerate and misrepresent the situation as a coping mechanism. By calling the video a super hit for IS you want to discredit it and censor the message. Who in their right mind would want to associate with IS propaganda and pay attention to it.

However it turns out the problem isn't with the video. The issue is you can't handle criticism irrespective of how ill-founded it might be and have to rely on scare tactic as a response.

The criticism expressed in the video might not represent the facts and reality of the situation but your scare tactic discredits anything you have to say more than it discredits the video.

Some serious Charles Xavier stuff there! Bravo!

No answers to the is it divisive/communal then. You guys continue to skirt around this and prefer ad hominem attacks. Do tag me when you choose to answer anything I've asked.

Lol, it was actually George Bush who started this stuff about us v them. There was no DAESH back then.

I admit as someone who grew up in Pakistan and in a Muslim culture I have sympathy for Muslims and am wary towards Indian hindu extremism. My observation of how Indian Hindus behave on the social media and their resentment towards anything remotely Islamic has further influenced me to be cautious about their motives.

I have recently heard about the ongoing roits in India though never had the opportunity to increase my knowledge about the recent events.

It's hard to filter the facts from fairytales when their is massive censorship going on in places like Kashmir. I am against censorship of all sorts. Anyone guilty of censorship is a suspect in my eyes. Be it the Indian state or Pakistani army.

My attention is to inform myself about the issue and not to pose as the one with the information. I don't know the situation. I never claimed I did.

I saw the video to get an insight and then saw your reply. Your critic of the video was overly exaggerated and without any basis of truth. As I pointed out it's just a cheap tactic to discredit the speaker but in reality you discredited yourself. Which makes it difficult to trust the rest of your claims.

Even if I were to humor your claims the "us vs them" and the "victim mentality" have been around long before IS. Anyone expressing such sentiments isn't automatically on the same level as IS. IS is known for it's barbaric propaganda and disregard for human life. None of these elements can be found in the video. The video can't be put in the same category as an IS propaganda and hence discarded.

This is such a simple point I am trying to make that even a child should be able to follow. Are you humble enough to accept your mistake and exaggerating?

I don't know the situation in India and the reason behind the increase in violence. In general I think the truth has to be somewhere in between what the Pakistani side and Indian side is saying. I get to hear about the Pakistani side often and am open to listen to the Indian side. But how can I trust anything you have to say when you aren't even willing to acknowledge an obvious mistake.

In the end with your replies you only soothe your own pride and haven't convinced those who are willing to listen to an opposing point of view.

I appreciate the reply and your admission to the fact that you have a bias towards the content due to your upbringing and current knowledge.

That said, an us vs them in a country that has multiple religions and creeds - where one religion in particular has numbers so large that that it alone would rank as the 4th most populated country in the world - is extremely dangerous and a huge part of us not being able to reach our potential. Propaganda like this is like manna for people with a certain agenda - i.e. potray my country as a land of hate - which it is not despite the popular opinion here.

Politicians and religious leaders in my country milk this divide as they profit on the votes of this community by constantly peddling the us vs them narrative. This needs to stop. The victim culture needs to stop. Country before religion, caste, creed, language and everything else.

The problem I have with this video is that it continues to pull in political and other unrelated incidents to create a narrative of victimization and scare people. You say I exaggerate - and yet give a free pass if not felicitate the communal message of this video. Unfortunately, given the bias that you have - you will be unable to see it from the other POV. I am not answering this with the intent of changing your mind or that of anyone here. I have lurked here long enough to know better.

You are perhaps incensed by the fact that I compare it to the IS idealogy. How different is the content of this video from what is spouted by hate mongers? This guy is a hate monger and the people behind this video are the same. Kind of fits in with the narrative of IS in my opinion.

Don't hold my honesty towards you as a weakness of mine. In past in presence of sound arguments and reasoning I have changed many views and opinions of mine, on controversial issues, which are opposite to the values I grew up cherishing.

You talk about "us vs them" tone of the video which I find a bit hard to follow since nowhere he talks about "Muslims vs Hindus" there is no mention of key words like "islam", "muslim", "hindu", "Allah" or "jihad" etc. If I were to close my eyes and just listen to the words of the poem I couldn't tell the religious affiliation of the poet. The poem could be recited by a hindu, sikh or an atheist and it would still convey the same message.

What I take from the video is a criticism towards excessive use of violence by the state. For me in a free and democratic society the citizen deserve the right to criticize the state's use of violence.

My biggest problem is that simply labeling the criticism as "hate mongering" or "IS propaganda" and closing the case isn't a valid reply.

You can point out certain verses from the poem which you think strengthen your case of it simply being hate mongering and indicative of the "us vs them" attitude. Perhaps I missed it in intial listening.

I did not mean to use what you said earlier as a weakness. I just meant to say that it is then obvious why you wouldn't be able to see my POV.

That said the visuals accompanying the poem are very evident on the agenda propagated. If you followed the news in India over the past few months it would be apparent.

Just read some of the comments on the video. Most of the positive comments seem to be coming from people with Hindu names. Are they IS as well?

So did Gandhi sahib. Raised his voice against British atrocities. I admire him for that. And I know BJP/RSS don't admire him.
kk1992 , we should understand that RSS/BJP ideology disown Gandhi and his struggle. Just can't say it openly atm. Sooner they will.

You can provide whatever percentage reservation but what good is it when state sponsored genocide against Muslims doesn’t stop in the country?
