Oh true, didn't realize that. I guess the best result for Pakistan is a Bangladesh/Nepal draw, and India having a shocker, and losing to Maldives.

We actually should have won by more ideally 5-0 would have been perfect.

Pakistan has scored 5 goals and given up 2 plus 3 in goal differential

Nepal has scored 5 goals and given up 2 plus 3 in goal differential

Bangladesh has scored 3 goals and given up 0 goals plus 3 in goal differential

I think India will secure first place and if Pakistan finish second that it will set up India vs Pakistan semi final

thanks so if Nepal wins, shouldn't Pak and Nepal advance to the semis as most probably BD wont lose with score like 4-2 or 5-3?

Actually yeah, if Nepal win, Pakistan are through on goal differential! If Bangladesh are win, Pakistan are still through because Pakistan beat Nepal head to head. Don't think we can top the group though.

Just be amazed that these lads are winning matches with next to no help from PFF... If football got as much importance in Pakistan as cricket does we would have been quite a competitive team atleast in Asia.

Nepal and Bhutan have it way worse, but they continue to punch above their weight every now and then. With proper infrastructure, I can see them leapfrogging most South Asian sides.

Pakistan qualify for the Semi finals of Saff CUP since 2005. 13 years the last time they qualified
 
Pakistan have exceeded expectations at this tournament.Well done but the job is not finished yet.Need to concentrate for the semi-final and treat it as just another game.
 
India are way above Pakistan in the rankings in part due to the 3 year ban, can't see Pakistan winning but a Russia Spain repeat would be nice

Think the last football match between Pakistan and India was a Pakistan win. 4 years ago though and a lot has changed.
 
India win their last game of group stage beating Maldives 2-0 and thus topping the group. Both Sri Lanka and Maldives have 1 points each with a goal differential of -2 will be interesting to see who would advance from the two
 
India Pakistan Semi Final match confirmed now. India should absolutely smash Pakistan given their recent hype and rise in rankings.
 
Confirmed Maldives will be going through in to the semi finals since Sri Lanka and Maldives has exact amount of points and exact amount of goal differential and because their game was tied Agaisnt each other , it was decided through a coin toss WOW lol Maldives has gone through my coin toss and I thought coin toss was only crucial in cricket lol

I don’t think so. IIRC, Indian and Pakistan have played 13 matches, out of which Pakistan has won 3. Last of those came in 2005.

The match he is referring to is a friendly series that took place in India but I believe both teams fielded a u23 side and Pakistan did win a game
 
Huge game coming up. Even if it is their U23 team but it looked very strong against Maldives. Pak has a tough job but i get a feeling that we will prevail.

Nepal will take on Maldives, Nepal should win that match, but again in semi final match up anything can happen.

India vs Pakistan the big match, i feel india should win this match, their football team has come a long way, and even their youth team have looked strong so despite being a u23 team, they will be a strong team to deal with, i feel Pakistan will have to play well, and will have to manage to play a very good second half if they are to win, i do feel that if Pakistan do get the first goal of the match they should go on to win the match. Regardless of the result, i feel it will be a good match, and Pakistan should be proud they qualified for semi final, considering everything they have gone through.

India can play well if you give them spaces, best strategy for us would be to park the bus and play on counter attacks with long balls. If we can manage even a draw in full time then in penalties anything can happen. This is an inexperienced side of India. No big names are there. We certainly should manage them. I have seen them both play and thats why have high hopes from Pakistan team.

I do agree with you but I still feel the first goal of the game will be crucial and we can't ignore our fatigue issue during second halfs heck if it goes to extra time that might be an issue for us as well, but if pakistan make their chances count they should win. The one thing that gives me good hope is that we have a very solid goal keeper in Yussuf Butt he is useually on top of his game and will play a big role if we are to advance
 
Maldives are going to finals after beating Nepal by a score of 3-0 in a match which was effected by rain. Ibrahim Waheed scored 2 goals and now they will go on to face the winner of the India vs Pakistan match
 
Nice thread and thanks to all posters who contributed. Together we will do our lil lil bit to revive football and sports (other than cricket) in our country. Progress in sports is a good indicator to see how a country is progressing.
 
First Half finished and the score is still India 0-0 Pakistan.

First half 0-0 India is clearly the better team at the half had better possession and more chances but not able to convert, that's due to Yussuf Butt goaltending who has been outstanding. The rain is also not helping either teams and kinda slowed the pace of the game a bit. Pakistan needs to mark their players better India getting some good through balls as well. Pakistan did look good towards the end of the chance and had some good chances one which I think should have been put away in box but Indian goal keeper came up with a big save.

Pakistan also had an indirect free kick in the box as well at a weird angle but we're not able to capatilze , considering the chances , the speed of the Indian attack, and the rain I think the first half result is a good one Pakistan will need to make a chance count as I said prior I think the team that will score first will win the match. Good luck Pakistan
 
Look at the ground conditions, unbelievable. My school had a 10 times better football ground.
 
These are a bunch of Under 23 players , all the Members of the Main Indian side are resting for the tournament.
 
80th minute Saaduallah Khan comes in Pakistan have 10 Mins plus stoppage time to make something happen but doesn't not seem like it will be the case today
 
3-0 now India goal scored at 83rd minute . I will take the time to congratualate India u23 to making into the finals your senior and junior team have come a long way and their football has looked so good. For Pakistani football fans don't be to sad guys we still did pretty well considering everything. We have a long way to go but inchAllah we will get good results in the future
 
India should stop playing in this tournament in the future, not a single team in SAFF is worth playing against. Justified their decision to send an Under 23 Squad for this tournament.
