sorry I had to make this. I can sense the agenda to have Babar in the national side and that too back in the opening spot is going to pick up very soon because of Babar’s supposedly “good form” and “great performance” with Zalmi


So I pose the question to you all. With Farhan undoubtedly locked at one end as the opener,

Who pairs him out of Minhas and Babar? Sameer being the younger and more dynamic option who plays with a straight bat technique. Isn’t afraid to go aerial and scores his runs at a good click!

Decide for yourselves!
 
Babar Azam needs more work. He needs to go back to domestic show he has improved than return. He has done well under Misbahs coaching at PZ.

Sameer is also not ready and needs domestic experience.

Its better to continue with Saim Ayub, or just move Fakhar Zaman to opening position. Infact Zaman should be the captain of the t20 side
 
Point is, if you want to bring in Sameer with only 8 domestic games behind his back, you are not solving an issue. You are creating one and destroying a potentially good player
 
Babar hasn;t done anything too different from what he used to do in the past. His bowlers restrict the sides and it has allowed him to make good scores at 135ish SR comfortably.

Minhas and try Minhas and Maaz against minnows rest Farhan.

Fakhar is done! He's got no place in the side just like the rest of the seniors including babar. But if it's picked on merit or just to take "experienced players" Fakhar isn't one to bank on with his once in a year innings.
 
Maaz and Sameer can be given opportunities against B teams in bilaterals without being put under too much pressure allowing them to adjust to International cricket and continue to improve their game.

Fair enough. But you cant just bring in a kid who has only 7 t20s and 1 list A game under his belt and you give him a national cap

International cricket is not the spot where you improve your game. You improve your game is domestic and than play international cricket

Agreed let them play domestic cricket but the structure at domestic level needs to be better. International cricket is far better than what these kids are facing in PSL. But have to start integrating them and phase out the seniors.

From what I've seen they are already better than some seniors and Maaz showed potential in Bangladesh series only match we won was because of him with the bat...... Let them play some lower profile series and take it from there. In bilaterals T20 and ODIs pitches tend to be decent for batting.

international cricket is no way better because international cricket is for players that are developed and ready.

a Kid with 8 games and not even a single first class game shouldnt be representing Pakistan.

We made this mistake with every young cricketer. We are only destroying these players

Its just biasness. Every young player that has performed in PSL, we assume he is better than the seniors and only gets exposed.

Haider Ali, Mohammad Harris, Azam Khan, Saim Ayub, Abdullah Shafiq, Shahnawaz Dahani, Hussain Talat, Mukhtar Ahmad, the list goes on.

Allow the player to play domestic, develop and than give him chances.

Let me know if I said any of the above players were better than seniors when they were young playing PSL for the first time.
 
Minhas is unbelievably talented!

He looks like an upgraded version of Babar Azam

I hope he scores runs in FC and is also in contention for Test cricket

For now, I'd open with Farhan and Maaz, then M. Haris

Unfortunately, there is an empty barrel of wicket-keeping batsmen in T20's and it's between U. Khan, M. Haris and Azam Khan

The next T20 WC is in Australia and M. Haris is the best at playing pace among them
 
Babar shouldn't play IT20 anymore.

Sameer Minhas is still young & has time on his side. I would pair Sahibzada with Yasir Khan or M.Haris.

After playing just 1 game of PSL they were already better than Babar Rizwan and Agha in T20....... Watch how they prove it over time then let me know.

neither, samir is a good batsmen but in a similar mould to bobsy, touch, timing, but hes not a power hitter, id much rather have sadaqat opening with farhan. with samir at one down.

Give him a taste of international cricket so he finds what he needs to do to succeed at international level.
He'll keep bossing at the domestic level and I am afraid our domestic isn't going to teach him how tough international cricket is going to be.

Nobody should be playing international cricket without giving some kind of performance in domestic cricket. It's disrespectful to the system and hundreds of players who work hard day in and day out for the same dream. This obsession with talent is one of the major reasons why Pakistan's cricket is the dumpster fire it is today. No player should be leapfrogging others to the national team based on the perception that they are more talented. If he is good enough then he will perform in domestic too. As they say, the cream rises to the top. But until he does, he shouldn't be anywhere near the national team.

Huraira was bossing domestic for 4-5 years but came in looking like fish out of water in his debut series.
Sameer has performed at age level cricket, should be good to give him a go in t20is or ODIs atleast.
Dont want this guy to keep racking up runs in domestic for 4-5 years and then stunting his growth as a batter.

Yeah because nothing says I'm ready for international cricket like performances in U-19 cricket and PSL. I'm glad you are not one of the selectors.

Maaz should open.
 
Babar is not in form and despite flashes he hast been since his return. Problem is tulla Farhan is useless vs SENAI and non Minnows in general and we have tullas par excellent Salman Agha and Usman Khan as well. I would go Maaz for now and kick out tulla Agha and Usman.

You're getting agitated like Irfan Pathan for a mere opinion.
Sameer is someone who should be coached by proper coaches and not guys like Imran Farhat etc in the domestic whose advice would be just see off the 2 good bowlers in the opposition and feast on the rest of the below average bowlers of our domestic teams.
 
TBH, don't start hyping Sameer to moon. Babar should be rested/dropped now from T20s. I don't think he has got to stay in the side now.

Maaz has underperformed and untill be develops his offside game, he will become another rizwan who just likes to slog everything on the lef side. Good player maaz and can be tested anyway.

Maaz and farhan should open actually.
 
The way Pakistan fans wanted Sameer to play for Pakistan, if suryavanshi is a Pakistani player he would have played for Pakistan? But I don't think BCCI fast tracked him to international cricket before playing enough first class game ( Also list A Game ) .

Only in Pakistan, you start comparing a newbie with a veteran. Babar's T20I career is already over , so no point bashing him or bringing him in discussion like this. Farhan Maaz & Sameer are three potential openers for Pakistan.

The state of our domestic cricket will regress Sameer. Batting against international quality is better than the relu kattas in our domestic set up. The moment he leaves domestic cricket again for international he will fail because the step up from quality will be massive: he’s facing relatively decent bowling right now so it’s the perfect opportunity to try him

Babar has no motivation to give his 100% for Pakistan if he’s not in consideration for T20s

T20 is his premier format in his mind. He wants to score 10k runs in this format more than he would in Test cricket

it looks like fans have not learned anything from Haider, Hassan Nawaz, Mohammad Harris and Saim Ayub.

To be honest, it's not the worst idea. I think FC experience is important for Test cricket maybe but you can throw in young guys in white ball cricket and see if they sink or swim and try and accelerate their development.

I'd say a middle ground would be to organise Shaheens tours to NZ, SA, AUS, ENG etc. and make sure he plays . If he racks up the numbers on these tours , he 'll be as ready as anyone else.

Babar will be opening in Australia 2028. He will be picked over any young opener to play at Perth because of his fraud PR in the name of “expeeerience”

He only has one way of looking at things seniors are better than younger players even if a few younger players outperform them in the same league against the same bowlers. Check Sameer and Maaz strike rates compared to Babar Rizwan and Agha. Its fine if they wait a year or 2 to give them opportunities in international T20 because next world T20 is in late 28 but don't say they are not better than this trio when they clearly are even at a young age close to 20 21. Its less common for this to happen that's why I have confidence in these 2 when normally I can see its just hype.

What are fans supposed to learn from Harris, Saim etc?

That Pakistan actually does have players capable of playing at modern standards unlike the frauds who these people back?

If you keep producing the same crap strike rate of 110 in tournaments then feel its fine to be picked over others then there's a problem now we will get the excuse of Misbah improving Babar :facepalm only for the same crap to repeat itself.

Maaz is in contention for ODI...... Sameer needs to play more domestic List A and a few series for Pakistan A then he will be in contention too as long he performs well.

The domestic setup was slightly better. It’s genuinely baqwas right now. It serves no purpose letting talented players go back and regress

Will be monotonous matches where they face rubbish bowlers , will become accustomed to it then all of a sudden find themselves in a lot of trouble facing international level players. It is a massive step up, the difference between PSL and international cricket is still massive but not compared to the gap between our domestic setup and international cricket. There are still some decent players at PSL who have played international cricket so the batsmen and bowlers performing well are showing they are ready. We will destroy them sending back to a useless domestic setup . They won’t learn anything there
 
Maaz and Minhas should be our T20 openers in a year or so and definitely for the next T20 WC. If Farhan can prove he is more than a minnow basher by then that would be great and he can be considered. Babar will likely regress more by then and is getting on in age. I expected him to play on for another 5-7 years but his hand-eye coordination seems to be weaker than it was.

Remember, Misbah ul Haq is one of the selectors

We all know his tendency to come up with ridiculous ideas in white ball cricket that have EXTREME LONG TERM damage.


will certainly lobby for Babar in the T20i side.

Putting Minhas in the team right now would be a bad idea, just like what happened with Muhammad Haris and Saim Ayub before. The team management should focus on improving his batting so he can score big in the T20 World Cup 2028.

Domestic crickrt is where you develop, not in international.

If a player fails to score in domestic than he will do nothing in international

Only for the player to regress further.

Hassan Nawaz is a pure example. Many had him in their wt20 squad after 1 good series. Guy regressed so bad that they had to kick him out.

Same with mohammad harris, who was selected off few games.

Farhan is good because he was forced to play domestic cricket that developed him.

But the logic seems lost as over excited fans have this assumption that international cricket develops you lol

selectors like Muhammad Waseem who selected a top 3 of Babar, Rizwan and Masood in an era when Fakhar and Sharjeel were both available to Pakistan??

Or clowns like Hafeez who took Sahibzada Farhan and batted him at 7??
