His team are in the final, his decisions in the end won them the match, Cheema got 2 wickets in the last over and you're saying lets forget th outcome.

You're being ridiculous. That was a tiny total to defend - he had to bowl ALL his top bowlers throughout. He needed the overs and wickets Grant provided up front and the middle of the order. Those were key

At the moment he's no where near a brilliant tactician.

But he's not a paindu guy. which auto makes him a better option than what we have tried in the past and what we have at hand these days. Tactician or no tactician comes next.

I didn't see the presentation but from what you are telling me, Ramiz sir wasn't obviously happy. That's the perfect example there. I am not saying everyone has a regional bias, but there it does contribute to some decisions in the PCB whether someone likes it or not. The second thing not in Saifi's favor is that he can't speak English, isn't good looking, and can't play elegant cover drives, all of which PCB and fans take into consideration even though they aren't related to captaincy.

He isn't charismatic and stuff you know. There are many players who have connections in the PCB. How does Azhar Ali, who was not even in the team, become captain? How does Afridi, worst T20 captain in Pakistan's history, become captain again? It's definitely not on merit. Sarfraz has loads of Captaincy experience behind him.

He should learn English.Look at Mauricio Pochettino,He couldn't speak English while he was at Saints but he learned it for the big job for Spurs

So are you certain Elliot would have defended 9 run in the last over? If you are, then your question is justifiable. Otherwise, it's just an uproven idea.

Who cares? Honestly as long as he wins matches, what he does at the post match presentations should be irrelevant.

You seem to be pretty bitter about Sarfraz, since there is no cricketing reason to attack him, you are randomly picking on his ability to speak English. Sarfraz doesn't even have a beard, so why so much bitterness towards him?
 
Malik can do a good job of translating Sarfraz's PC's. Atleast he'll do something he is good at. Sinc he cant bat bowl or even captain a side well anymore..

I think he wanted to save Elliot's over for the final. Or maybe he forgot Elliot is only allowed 4 overs. Or maybe and this is a big maybe he thought this through and figured that tailenders are more capable of hitting medium pacers rather than fast bowlers and it is better to use your most experienced specialist fast bowler to bowl the last over. You should take note from Sarfraz when it comes to thinking things through, like your posts for example.

No bitterness, I find his performance in Limited Overs questionable and that's why I'm not thrilled with the idea of him captaining.
 
street smart... sharp learner.. best thing abt him was his interview with ramiz when he said tht he didnt want to talk to bowler too much so they dont get confused.... a gr8 thinking ... wont mind him to be named T20 captain to start with
 
Sarfraz Ahmed fanbase is the hotspot now it seems after the downfall of Shehzad and Afridi strongholds and Misbah haters disappearing completely for the most part.

I hope Afridi succeeds in the world t20, if he doesn't, people call for his head to be replaced by brilliant tactician effective immediately who will apparently make us champions by bowling Amir out in the first powerplay and giving him 2 slips.
 
Don't know how good Sarf is? is he any better than the "best brains in Pak"?

One of the reason Pak suffered in the last decade was coz of poor captaincy.Guys like Inzi, Afridi,Hafeez, azhar and Mibah were total paindus.Kardar,Immi,Miandad,Saleem Malik,Akram were all great captains.
 
^^Not to forget Mushtaq Mohammad who bucked the trend of defensive minded playing for the draw the captains like Inti before him. Under Mushtaq's tenure Pakistan won in the Aus, Windies and NZ for the first time. He was a great people manager and got the best out his players...

Wasim was good only if he was not on the take...

Street smart means knowing what to do in situations when going gets tough.. last time the situation got tough for brilliant tactician, he whipped the bail off with his glove and gave the other team the chance to take a single and tie the game...

thats what PP'ers have to say. Aleem Dar whipped the bails of himself and concluded the match after Sarfraz did it at the other end. Any second run by Asghar would be against the spirit of the game. PP have plenty of crybabies/Malik,Kamran fans who would do anything but to see Sarfraz's team win.
 
Failed in the World Cup QF and now failed in both the Qualifier and the Final.

Just another choker, but I'm sure excuses will be ready. He has failed as a batsman in the PSL as expected, simply not good enough for Limited Overs cricket.

To forecast the response(s): Malik and Kamran also failed.

Not that you do any real analysis but his captaincy wasn't bad.

Was a little unlucky. Couple occasions Smith could have bowled by McCullum and then Anwar Ali dropped him. He made the right changes, not much you can do when two guys are hitting like that.
 
Came up against one of the better captains in the PSL. Well done Misbah and commiserations Sarfraz and co.

Yeah he got unlucky, was spot on otherwise. Brilliant knocks in the Qualifier and the Final as well. Clear contender for the Player of the Tournament.
 
Great captaincy by Sarfraz.. credit to him for leading the side to the finals.. What a captain and a find he has been. Relatively inexperienced but out thinking the great minds of Pakistan cricket for large parts of the tournament..
On points they are the team with the most points.. defeating peshawar twice and most other teams twice. Only to lose against Lahore and peshawar once.. and then losing to islamabad in the finals.
Overall he can stand proud on his achievements.. a true mastermind and tactician

Now apparently some were assuming KP was the captain when the team was winning, losing takes the blame all to Sarfraz.
He is a winner and his tactics in the playoffs were enough to be termed the best captain of the tournament. Has led the team brilliantly with limited resources..
Misbah is a fantastic captain as well, but Sarfraz's team has been the most consistent. So they should be the top 2 of the lot..

I know this loss is tough for you and a lot of other Karachiites and Misbah haters and Afridi fans to swallow but relax Sarfraz has been ok. Not great. Why didn't he bowl out Nawaz today?? Where were his brilliant tactics at that time?
 
Shobby needs to take him under his wing and teach him the true art of winning domestic knockouts and trophies.

His captaincy has put the likes of Malik and Afridi to shame.. Some stalwarts of more than 15 years of International cricket.. Kudos!!

Bottom line - a captain is really only as good as his players.

There are occasions where the brilliance of a captain wins a match. I think in Test cricket is where the brilliance really shows, where tactics and strategy pan out.

But more often than not in ODIs and especially T20s, a win is a reflection of players, not the captain.

Sarfraz's bowlers were not good today. Not good all tournament really, apart from Elliot till today and Nawaz. Nawaz was the best, and he didn't bowl him enough today.

I haven't watched the final. Only followed scores. But honestly no one was left out by Smith and Haddin. It wouldn't have made much of a difference.
If you want some manuals on captaincy, watch the semi final vs zalmi to know how good he is as captain. That is the best example of how to defned a low score, and how to defend 8 of the last over. His team has been the most consistent, and if you go doubts on that you can check the stats. Credit goes to the captain for leading the underdogs this far

To be fair he deserves flak for whatever wrong he's done but, when it gets to a point where he's criticised for the smallest of things you know it's personal.

Just try to avoid the obvious attention seeking posts by certain users.

Brilliant captaincy by Sarfraz. Great man management. Taking the cheapest team to the finals. No one rated them (including me) but hats off to Quetta.

He may have but when it really counted Misbah captaincy came on top. Nothing to be ashamed of, especially when the likes of Malik and Afridi sides gave up so meekly.

Had a poor final but other than that he was very good as a captain. Of course Mamoon is going to criticize him because for him it's personal. Not sure why though. Mamoon's hate was very evident in that "Zalmi could have taken the second run" thread when he kept bashing Safraz for not knowing the law until I shut Mamoon up but by explaining the law. And as it turned out Sarfraz DID KNOW the law and Mamoon didn't. lol

So your initial statement isn't correct. Sarfraz is a rookie in front of Misbah.
 
He was just outclassed and got nervous by the best captain: Misbah ul Haq. :najam

The best captain won the tournament.... which was Misbah!

Sarfraz deserved to be there but Misbah deserved to be called the better captain because his side won.
 
Can't afford to carry a tactician who struggles to hit big. Although he can be a decent choice for Test captaincy post Misbah. I would prefer him over Azhar.

As I mentioned, Sarfraz is a rookie in front of Misbah. If Misbah had defeated him earlier so your initial statement would have been correct. Entirely! I'm not comparing their captaincy. Misbah is a seasoned campaigner.

No, I just feel whoever wins the game/tournament deserves the higher praise. When teams win it's more often than not because they deserved it. The same can be said of captains.

It really shouldn't matter if he's seasoned or not, it comes down to minute details and changes made throughout the game. Misbah was very good and Sarfraz made mistakes. Simple as that.
 
We don't need this choker captain. Failed both as a batsman and captain when the going got tough.

Was carried by Wright and Nawaz in the first half of the tournament.

Yes, Sarfraz was rubbish so make this about me now, but I am a bit busy celebrating our win at the moment. Will have time for the burn later.
