Watson at a presser after MS vs QG in Multan:

"We played well, but 200 on that wicket was probably 20 too many. Rilee Rossouw batted beautifully. It's the first time we've played here, the way Multan bowled was different to the way we bowled, they've played a few games here and understand the conditions.

"With all that's happened in the last 24 hours with the flights and everything, it's been a great experience, a different experience. For everyone to put that aside, flying in this morning and putting in a solid performance is very impressive.

"The wicket was different to what we've been playing on. Sometimes it doesn't work out and you don't find the middle of the bat, that's the way it goes. A bit of luck fell my way to get the innings up and running but I couldn't keep it going towards the end. In the, it was a solid performance and we fought.

"The crowd was incredible today. From the time we arrived here this morning, on the way to the ground, the crowd was phenomenal. The atmosphere, the noise was very loud. It's always awesome to come to different parts of the world where people don't always get world class cricket and you sense everyone is loving the quality of cricket being played here. It was an amazing experience.

"Rossouw obviously had a lot to prove, the way he played. The way the options and everything work, unfortunately we weren't able to keep him despite him being an important part of QG. He batted incredibly well, that's the skill he's got. We've seen him in so many tournaments whether it's here or other tournaments around the world. He's a world-class striker of the ball. I'm really happy for him, he's a seriously nice guy, it's great to see him do well.

"With the #3 position, it's not so much about the position, that's just what it is. Until today, I felt I had been batting well but it hasn't been my time. Shehzad has been taking the game on, hitting the ball nicely. Multan just knew the conditions well and they bowled well to Ahsan Ali at the start of his innings.

"The shots Rossouw played off our young fast-bowlers, it was amazing the way he took them on.

"In regards to Sarfaraz, he went with his gut feel about the right person to send to bat in that situation. Sarfaraz is a very selfless leader. If he feels it's the right time to go in, he will like he did in the previous games where he batted at 4/5. In this game, he felt the right thing was to send in the hitters more who could hit from ball 1. He was trusting his instincts.

"Home ground advantage is part of the game when you're playing a team at home and they've played games there previously. They know what the wicket will do and they know from a bowling point of view which balls they need to bowl under pressure. When you make the most of home advantage, it can mean you get 20 more runs or restrict the other team to 20 less runs. They made the most of their home ground advantage, we weren't able to adapt quick enough but we put in a good performance."

Thats why quetta is the most consistent team in the playoffs. Wouldve had 2 wins as well if their foreign players had travelled to Lahore that 2nd season.

Sarf's leadership will be tested now - tough challenge from Multan Sultans

Sarfraz can't bat when asking rate is high, doesn't have the shots for it.... Hence he sends others to bat before him.... Ab isko diplomacy mai " Selfless" Kaha jata hai

That is selfless putting team need ahead of his own need to bat.

He is a great leader, just not good enough batsman to be in the team...Should apply for coaching job 😉😉😉

Well said.

This whole “selflessness” drama is hilarious.

Partially right, but he does send in the youngsters ahead of him sometimes in ODIs, which was quite selfless in some cases.

Selfless???

Yes giving chance to youngsters ahead of yourself.

But what about hiding at no.8 in international cricket when situation was pretty tough?

It's not only about giving chances, sometimes its more about taking ownership and leading with the performance.
