I'm not talking about what makes him bad in LOIs.

I'm saying what is it about him as a LOI player that just makes certain people think he's just not cut out for ODIs and t20s, myself included.

Yes he has the stats apparently, century in England which is great for any Asian batsman, let alone a Pakistani batsman. Has a decent strike rate on cricinfo.

Yet whenever you see him bat in colored clothing he just doesn't seem to "fit" as a LOI player. And yet here he is as t20 captain.

I think it's his inability to hit big and maybe not being as well rounded of a batsman in that he relies on certain shots more than others? Think that is why despite his alright numbers I can't see him as a top tier bat in LOIs.

Why do people rate him in LOIs? (Not being sarcastic, genuinely curious)

That is because Sarfraz struggled in ODI's for a long time until turning a corner recently in the England series.

During his purple patch in Tests in 2014-15, the expectations were raised sky high that he will be able to transform his Test success into ODI's but more often than not - he flattered to deliver.

Had a good WC by our standards when he replaced Big Nas but only played 3 games so the sample size was too small.

He is not a slog hitter by any means which is what we tried to play him as at no. 6 and 7 in ODI's but it is looking like he is finding some form at no. 5 in ODI's.

Would persist with him for now.

He was shuffled and misused a lot in ODI's and we tried to either make him a lower order hitter (didn't work as that's not his natural game) or to just fit him in somewhere due to lack of space at the top considering we played him as an opener before. He's now comfortable as a busy middle order batsman with a high SR so he should feel at ease now.

Because he was just an Ok limited overs batsman but a very good test batsman. Interestingly, he has improved a lot lately in limited overs but regressed in tests.

Also, his strike rate is close to 90 despite not being a slogger which shows that he is an excellent rotater of the strike.

Maybe because of some user on here having an agenda from the moment he stepped foot in the side...

Played in the wrong position.

Still its not put me off him.

Best bat for Pakistan in the england series.
