That is quite a sum of money to invest in India, especially considering what just happened in Indian Kashmir... Looks like Saudi's only care about themselves and the Ummah is not as strong as thought, I was under the impression the world now looks at India negatively especially a leader muslim nation like Saudi Arabia, so unlike some folks here saying congrats Pakistan, because of Modi Kashmir issue is an international issue however no congrats to Pakistan as the impact is just not big as thought ? :inti ...

Welcome to the real practical world. Every country acts according to the benefits on the table. The ummah is an imaginary concept in the present world.

They are going for the British way of colonizing India. Smart.

This is the reality.

There is no such thing as Muslim Ummah

The Reliance AGM was telecast yesterday and I got to watch Mukesh Ambani speak at length about the Saudi investments in RIL. It is AMAZING and is expected to grow much much bigger.

I remember the Saudi Prince speaking very glowingly about the potential for the Saudi-India partnership, during his visit to India. Remember his phrasing it as the 'most defining partnership that Saudi would have with any nation' (or something on those lines). My first reaction was...How is that even possible. Given how close and huge the Saudi US partnership is, so I though he was just hyping it up.

However, the more I dug up on how close Modi and the Saudi prince have become and the many business ventures that Modi and Saudis are working on, the more I realize that the Saudi-India partnership could be a truly transformational relationship.

Looking back, no wonder that Saudi was insistent on inviting India as a special member to the OIC meeting and have the India address OIC as the 'guest of honor'.

Lol...don't forget you are talking about the Indian Gujarati business mind, here. If there is any chance of anyone colonizing the other in this equation at all, then it could only be the other way round. But knowing how the win-win Gujarati mind works, Reliance and Ambani would ensure that this remains a mutually beneficial relationship.

I won't be surprised if this Saudi investment turns out to be one of their most lucrative (if not the most lucrative) of their entire investment portfolio worldwide.

Money sells, religion doesn’t.

Yea on the contrary Saudi has been selling religion and now the probably the second largest donor of Hindutva selling govn got 25% stake in that donor.

Reliance shows its true colors, ‘sabse bada rupaiyaa’ doesn’t matter if it comes from any regime.

Good business for Saudis.

Kashmir etc dont figure in good business.

Do not take Ambani's promise of being debt free seriously . He said the same few years back when he sold stake in KG Basin to BP .

Muslims minority partnership propping up Hindu Indian businesses, just like old times.

Good for Saudis, they bought a piece of an a large Indian company. India only cares about money even though their people are treated like slaves in Saudi and the Saudi govt finances terrorist groups.

He said something about investing in Kashmir as well? Something is fishy. He launched Jio around the demonetisation and now this investment from Saudis when Article 370 has been revoked? :inti

I don’t think there is oil in Kashmir.. and hopefully nothing for fracking either which destroys ground water.

Who knows the Saudis may invest in Jammu & Kashmir too
Mukesh Ambani clearly mentioned Reliance plans to invest shortly in J& K

Ambani is going to invest in Kashmir. You need money for that. There will be jobs for the locals so thats a good thing but Shah, Modi and Ambanis work together. :inti

The investment is $15 B, not $75 B. The entire refinery is valued at $75 B, and the 20% investment is valued at $15 B.

Adani too imo and I don’t deny that..question is when they come up against corporates like TATA then what would happen...TATA is more India centric than Reliance but just my opinion.

Good for India, it might help their economy which is coming to a grinding halt as we speak. Also India has to grow at a rapid rate just to MAINTAIN current levels of poverty and unemployment.

I missed the news of Mukesh promising Investment in the two new union territories.. so yer very timely of this investment by the Saudis

Ambani is investing in Kashmir due to Modi.Is he doing out of his generousity no, he is there to do business and they will provide lot of jobs and other avenues for people in Kashmir.Once he does something others will follow.

Indian govt wants Kashmir to get better and I don't see why is that a bad thing.Who cares who does it Modi, Amit Shah or any other XYZ.

Only fools/people whose business is making money due to conflict are trying to make it as if it is bad thing.BJP is rightist party so what is that crime?

Huge investment in Ladakh. Ladakh will be transformed.

In the world of diplomacy and international business compromises have to be made.

Pakistan may not like how China treats Uighurs, but Pakistan cannot turn its back on China completely due to this one issue. Besides Pakistan needs the much needed bailout and CPEC investment at the current moment. So compromises have to be made. Diplomacy is all about balancing competing and conflicting priorities.

Its not the same yet, Saudi only invested in an Indian company has not backed us in UN, Pak backed China in UN against what they have done to Chinese Muslims and probably Tibet, its not even close yet.

It matters for those who believe that the previous governments have done the job so far in Kashmir. That belief helps them to downplay current government.

Intersting. Imran Khan, who played the role of doting handsome uber driver to the Saudi prince just a few months ago, will be not be pleased with this news.

This is a good for the Arabs, they now own a BIG chunk of India's largest company. India just sold a large asset. Imagine if Amazon or Dutch Shell sold a 20% stake to China, it wouldn't be hailed as "investment" but the sale of a major asset.

You have no idea how much equity in US companies do Middle east sovereign funds and investors hold? Do you?

Great point. Now wait for some of my fellow Indians to target you about how Chinese firms hold majority of Pakistan businesses now. These are not the same scenarios. China is a firm friend of Pakistan whereas KSA is just an opportunistic nation.

Ambani looking for more tie ups.
