"Shane Warne knew Yasir will do well so he helped him out to be in the news a bit" : Ahmed Shehzad

Ahmed Shehzad speaking on TV:

"Yasir's a wonderful bowler. His confidence is very high, specially after he became the #1 bowler. I would give Yasir a lot of confidence so that he can even do things he hasn't done. He is an impact player. There will be a psychological pressure on the Australians of dealing with him. He is the standout player and the Australians will be thinking about how to deal with him as they had to do with the likes of Shoaib Akhtar and Shahid Afridi in the past."

"Asghar is a wonderful bowler. I personally like him. He has a lot of confidence for a youngster. He has a lot of potential."

"Yasir has played enough cricket to know when to play and when not to play after an injury. He knows of his importance in the team and he knows he needs to think about bowling around 70 overs."

"Yasir has mostly played cricket in UAE. The pitches are flat. There our spinners like Ajmal, Hafeez, Afridi, Zulfiqar and Rehman have ruled and other teams can't tackle them, while we can handle other teams' spinners. So the spinners have a big part to play which is why Yasir now has a big workload."

"Shane Warne is a smart operator who knew that Yasir Shah will do well in Tests so he helped him out with practice etc to get some of the hype and to be in the news a bit. You saw when Yasir did well, Warne was discussed a lot. Who discusses Warne in Pakistan otherwise?"

"Sometimes on foreign tours visiting teams don't play too many practice matches as they may lose confidence so they play just one match like Pakistan have done and otherwise train in nets etc. with coaches so that they can carry momentum into the Test match."

"In the day-night matches, the seam is very difficult to see at night. The toss also plays a very big part as batting is very difficult in the first few hours."

"It's a big problem that there is no cricket in Pakistan. No one really cares much about the pitches."

"To improve domestic cricket, using Kookaburra balls and improving pitches is necessary. See how India keep producing batsmen - they have people scoring 300s in domestic cricket with one team hitting 700 runs, that's also good for bowlers. Grass isn't a big deal but the pitch should be hard. If it's soft then the bowler doesn't have to bowl into the pitch, he doesn't have to put effort and can easily get wickets. This is why sometimes our bowlers get injured when they play international cricket as they have to put effort due to hard pitches and the Kookaburra ball. There should be a bit of bounce in the pitches. There's something in it for both batsmen and bowlers that way."

He is right on quite a few fronts. Except the part about Australians being worried about afridi (hehe)

Look I don't like this guy but no need to unnecessarily bash him this time. Probably the only time he's talked sense in the last few years.

Good comments on the problems with domestic cricket. Quality of balls used and pitches are both a major issue.

It was an hour long show so seems like lot of quotes are missing

But from what's there now sensible comments. Apart from the obvious sneaking in of Afridi. The Aussies weren't concerned about Wasim or Waqar but about afridi lol

Australia had to think about how to deal with Shahid Afridi?
And that Warne comment

It was during the 2015 World Cup Warne started to praise Yasir, even though Yasir didn't perform well, even yet Warne backed him..

Stupid comments as usual by Shezad

after Yousuf and Shoaib, we have another great tv analyst in the making. I hope shezad doesn't retire, wouldn't be able to bare his analysis

Lol it's kinda hilarious

Does he not know how big Warne is?

What I don't understand is:

Isn't he playing the FINAL of the premier domestic tournament?

And a day night final at that?

So how is he even getting the time to come to shows for two consecutive nights? Shouldn't the focus be on the match?

Look at the way he is mentioning Warnie. Speaking as if he himself is Bradman of Cricket.

No respect. No humility.

Shane Warne has hyped many leggies. Shehzad should explain Warne's intensions of giving all those statements.

Keep praising every leggie and surely one of them will go on to dominate cricket like Yasir did.

Shehzad with some sly and smooth comments :shehzad

They say empty vessels make more noise. It's true for people like Shehzad who have no achievements to boast about yet have the nerve to bash ATG player.

Even if he felt like that about Warne, ok fine. But he should have control over his tongue and not spill everything out.

If he had done what you suggest he does then he wouldn't be the legend he is today.

I am sorry but Shehzad is not fit to carry Warne's Jock strap. For him to even be allowed to comment on Warne is an insult to the legend himself.

Shehzad talking sense for once. His comments regarding the pitches in Pakistan are absolutely spot on.

What is this love affair of pak players with media... they say anything as if talking to their buddies... also mostly they dont talk sense except for hafeez and misbah...

I mean getting into news using yasir... and that too warne.... they must be thinking that kohli too gave his bat to amir just to get into news.. these people are hillarious...

I was watching Saqlain Mushtaq's interview where he mentioned how Kohli was respectful to him and is a very humble person. Thats something people like Shehzad need to learn humility and respect for seniors.

Warne praising Yasir's effort here, into his 20th consecutive over.

Guess Warnie wants to be in the news again. :shezzy

tbf dont you think that Shehzad would be too

the issue is his behavior with teammates and coaches

with others he sucks up to them

Shehzad has feasted on the same poor pitches.

And Warne is a legend, he don't need to help Yasir to be in the news. It was the other way around.

Warne s attention helped him gain fame.

Warney might be a gloryhound but pretty disrespectful from Shehzad to talk about a legend like that when he himself is a nobody on the grand stage.

What an atrocious comment. You don't talk about legends of the game like this

I agree with Shazad, without the publicity generated for praising Yasir, Warne would be totally unknown in the cricketing world. Before Yasir he was virtually anonymous.

Why has this quote hurt people so much? Its not like he has openly criticised Warne or been disrespectful. Probably just made a general comment, and to be honest it wouldn't surprise me if he was correct. There are so many issues out there in the world and people are moaning about a petty comment such as this.
