"Shane Warne knew Yasir will do well so he helped him out to be in the news a bit" : Ahmed Shehzad
Ahmed Shehzad speaking on TV:
"Yasir's a wonderful bowler. His confidence is very high, specially after he became the #1 bowler. I would give Yasir a lot of confidence so that he can even do things he hasn't done. He is an impact player. There will be a psychological pressure on the Australians of dealing with him. He is the standout player and the Australians will be thinking about how to deal with him as they had to do with the likes of Shoaib Akhtar and Shahid Afridi in the past."
"Asghar is a wonderful bowler. I personally like him. He has a lot of confidence for a youngster. He has a lot of potential."
"Yasir has played enough cricket to know when to play and when not to play after an injury. He knows of his importance in the team and he knows he needs to think about bowling around 70 overs."
"Yasir has mostly played cricket in UAE. The pitches are flat. There our spinners like Ajmal, Hafeez, Afridi, Zulfiqar and Rehman have ruled and other teams can't tackle them, while we can handle other teams' spinners. So the spinners have a big part to play which is why Yasir now has a big workload."
"Shane Warne is a smart operator who knew that Yasir Shah will do well in Tests so he helped him out with practice etc to get some of the hype and to be in the news a bit. You saw when Yasir did well, Warne was discussed a lot. Who discusses Warne in Pakistan otherwise?"
"Sometimes on foreign tours visiting teams don't play too many practice matches as they may lose confidence so they play just one match like Pakistan have done and otherwise train in nets etc. with coaches so that they can carry momentum into the Test match."
"In the day-night matches, the seam is very difficult to see at night. The toss also plays a very big part as batting is very difficult in the first few hours."
"It's a big problem that there is no cricket in Pakistan. No one really cares much about the pitches."
"To improve domestic cricket, using Kookaburra balls and improving pitches is necessary. See how India keep producing batsmen - they have people scoring 300s in domestic cricket with one team hitting 700 runs, that's also good for bowlers. Grass isn't a big deal but the pitch should be hard. If it's soft then the bowler doesn't have to bowl into the pitch, he doesn't have to put effort and can easily get wickets. This is why sometimes our bowlers get injured when they play international cricket as they have to put effort due to hard pitches and the Kookaburra ball. There should be a bit of bounce in the pitches. There's something in it for both batsmen and bowlers that way."
