I have strong suspicions that the PCB never had any intentions to convict Sharjeel in the first place. This whole facade is to just show the world that the PCB tried their level best to prosecute Sharjeel but the evidence was ultimately insufficient and this way Sharjeel when he comes back to the team can claim to have gone through the legal process.
Sharjeel Khan was threatened to admit the spot-fixing allegations
Mumbai, June 18: Pakistani opener Sharjeel Khan, who has been suspended for the spot-fixing allegations in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) was threatened (to accept the charges) to save his cricket career. This on Sunday was claimed by his lawyer Shaigaz Ijaz.
Speaking exclusively over his mobile from Lahore, where he was preparing to represent his client for Monday's hearing, he said, "in Dubai when Sharjeel Khan was being interviewed by the ICC officials Colin Tenant, Stephanie McCormick and Col. Khalid (Integrity Officer of Islamabad United team) at the ICC Head Quarters, Col. Azam Khan, (General Manager : Security and Vigilance Department (Pakistan Cricket Board, PCB) entered the room and asked Sharjeel "You will reply as I have instructed/told you".
"Col. Azam also took Sharjeel Khan along with him in his car from the cricket ground to ICC Headquarters and continuously threatened him to do as per his wishes if he (Sharjeel) wanted to play cricket again", the lawyer claimed.
Sharjeel Khan and his lawyer are believed to have the recording of this conversation. "It was a ploy to trap Sharjeel. Had he admitted these charges then, he would have been immediately banned". The 28-year-old left-handed batsman has played 1 Test, 25 ODIs' and 15 T20 matches for his country.
"It is evident that PCB's Anti-Corruption unit has concocted this scenario just to show their efficiency."That PCB's application to produce in evidence findings of NCA at this stage of the case is against the settled principles of law when both PCB and Sharjeel Khan have led their evidence", he further added.
The PCB in its cross examination is likely to produce few cricketers, who would watch the video recording of the match for their judgement. Sharjeel Khan has obtained the testimonials from Dean Jones (coach of his team at the PSL), Sadqi Mohammad (the brother of late Hanif Mhammad) and Mohammad Youfus, all former
cricketers. "Dean Jones coach of Islamabad United as well as Muhammad Yousaf and Sadiq Muhammad have all testified in support of Sharjeel asserting that alleged (two) dot balls were played on merit with intention to score runs. Sharjeel even ran on the second ball but was stopped by the non-striker", the lawyer further added.
Unlike Khalid Latif, Sharjeel Khan has not objected to the composition of the panel, which is investigating the charges. "There are people in this committee of high integrity and we have no problems with them", he signed off.

what are the reports ? any chance of sharjeel coming back in the next series....
This just begs the question why would they do this?
It seems that some people in Pakistan and PCB dont want Pakistan to do well in any field on the instructions of our neighbours.

the case against Sharjeel is extremely weak now; if PCB has any integrity left they will declare Sharjeel not guilty provided Sharjeel promised in writing to not take them to court.
Can someone fill me in to what is actually going on?
I've lost track.
Aquib Javed as independant witness? He was one of the most poor batman in the history of the game. What batting input does he have to give?

Hearing murmurs that Sharjeel has been cleared by the tribunal. I can't confirm it yet but some news channel has a graphic on the screen stating the news.
Wrong news.
We'll see soon enough because the verdict for Sharjeel is supposedly on Monday.

Suppose Sharjeel gets some fixed months ban, will the duration of investigation and hearing be be taken into consideration to reduce ban some period of ban he has already served considering he has missed a few series, PSL and Champion Trophy?
I've been getting a lot of questions on this one.
The TV graphic has been taken out of context. Basically it says 'Tribunal rules in Sharjeel Khan's favour' but that doesn't mean he's cleared, it's simply as mentioned in the above report; PCB asked to invite Sharjeel into the witness box but the tribunal declined, thus they 'ruled in his favour'. But the case is still ongoing.

I am ok with at least one year. Hopefully others establish their place and he is no longer required. Also fine with him being banned and challenging it in court and the whole process taking enough time for his career to be over.
Generally speaking PCB is pretty soft on all types of fixers, but because this concerns their main money spinner, the PSL, I hope they are cautious and ban him regardless of weight of evidence.
Will the details and merits of case be disclosed once the verdict is out?
Probably not. I can tell you now it's probably not a slam dunk hence all these issues. But it's thee kind where everyone knows the player is guilty but don't have the critical 10% to successfully prosecute. Since this is not a legal tribunal per se, I am happy with them not having the standards of a criminal court. Sentence him and be done with it, I say.
They are just wasting time. Give him a 6 month ban for not reporting and bring him back. If we had Sharjeel opening with Zaman we would have scored 400 against the bhartis)
I hope so. no mercy this time.30-70 in favor of PCB right now I think.
I hope so. no mercy this time.
Should be banned if guilty of fixing.5 year ban.Even if he has agreed to fix but didn't,should be banned for at least 2 years.

I see a lot of people mention that Sharjeel has met a bookie. Can someone post a news article confirming this or is this all just hearsay?
To me, it looks like PCB (Sethi) jumped the gun again...
He did meet a bookie, even his lawyers admit that.

The entire nation is drooling over the prospect of Sharjeel and Fakhar opening together. The entire nation actually believes we can win the CWC 2019.
They'll clear him.
Well I hope that isn't how they conclude the trial and verdict. If there's lack of evidence, fair enough but don't go by what the future may hold if he or other are let off. We clearly didn't learn anything from the Waqar/Wasim and the Qayyum report.
