Learning from India and Bangladesh is independent to the failure of the Two Nation Theory. Both can be discussed separately.

India and Bangladesh are still third world countries. They are doing better than Pakistan but they are obviously behind the western world.

Both India and Bangladesh have something in common which we don’t - civil supremacy. India has never been ruled by the military, while Bangladesh have had a couple of coups but they have resisted to the point where the military is now subservient to the federal government.
going back to your previous point, I believe you are arriving at the wrong conclusions. The formation of Bangladesh does not disprove the two nation theory. The split and subsequent ailments of Pakistan you keep bringing up are all down to bad governance by the elite military establishment. If the country was run properly, we would not have lost East Pakistan and our brothers and we would still be a country. I think there are a lot of lessons we have learnt recently thanks to the awakening of the common man in Pakistan. We have been sold one lemon after another. There are a lot of issues with our nation that need to be fixed but none of them are down to the failure of the two nation theory. If anything, what is going on in India right now PROVES it was correct. India is Bharat, a hindu nation. It is not meant for Muslims and it is not secular.

That is similar logic to keep a United India then, had Congress And ML gotten along well they could had ruled it better and kept civil institutions strong.

But it did not happen, did it. And now with the rise in RW Hindu nationalism, the Muslims are in a bad spot. That’s what the 2 nation theory was all about.

That’s exactly the point Mamoon is making “ it didn’t happen”… so the theory is wrong then..

Indian Muslims are still part of Indian society and growing in number..

The truth is what happened and that is “Feudal society” Pakistan screwed Bangladeshis.. Indian society is having lot of challenges as well, but luckily we have South and east of India to counter North.. Pakistani had no counter..

At least Pakistanis are not ruled by a Hindu. No matter what, Pakistan was the right thing to happen.

Chachi ki moonchein hoti to chacha hotay.

Had a dinner with Indian Muslim friends and they all said if Pakistan wins against India and someone hears a firecracker, 150 Muslims die.

I don’t know maybe go speak with your Muslim brothers on how they really feel about living in modern day Bharat. I personally don’t give a flying you know what about what others think of the two nation theory. But I am just glad it helped us get a country of our own.

I grew in in Chennai my Muslims friends till date support PCT.. I don’t like it but i accept it.

I have said it always in threads(of Indian support for PCT), there might be posts when PCT used to win Royapettah in Chennai there would be fireworks back in 1990s.. I know this coz my dad worked there.

150 Muslims die hope you realise how weird that sounds.

It was a metaphor but you understand the point. I don’t care who they support and I won’t lose any sleep if they stop supporting Pakistan. But it’s clear how much hate there is in Indians for Pakistan. And Muslims there don’t have it easy.

Do they just support Pakistan, or do they support Pakistan over India? Just wanted to know.

Have being saying always, that Indian Muslims need a new homeland, and there should be Partition 2.0. Hindus and Muslims are two nations and they are never meant to stay together, unless when ruled by a third nation. I think Kerala and Tamil Nadu would be ideal for Indian Muslim Homeland.

Govt announces public holiday on Nov 9 on account of Iqbal Day

The federal government has announced a nationwide public holiday on November 9 to mark the birth anniversary of Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the national poet of Pakistan, a notification issued by the Cabinet Division said on Thursday.

Born on November 9, 1877, in Sialkot, Iqbal was a distinguished poet, a scholar, a gifted philosopher, and Pakistan’s ideological founder. It was at the Allahabad session of the Muslim League in 1930 that Iqbal became the first politician to articulate the two-nation theory that ultimately led to the creation of Pakistan on August 14, 1947.

Iqbal Day was on the calendar of national public holidays for decades, but the interior ministry, through a circular issued on November 4, 2015, announced the cancellation of the day as an annual holiday without specifying a reason. However, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s government restored the holiday in 2022.

“As notified vide Cabinet Division’s circular No. 10-02/2023-MM-II dated 20th December 2023, listing Public and Optional Holidays for the year 2024, Saturday, November 9, 2024, shall be a public holiday throughout the country on the occasion of Allama Iqbal Day,” the notification, a copy of which is available with Dawn.com read.

On the occasion of restoring the public holiday, PM Shehbaz had also constituted a committee to highlight the work of the national poet — desiring that a programme be arranged to highlight the life, work, and philosophy of Dr Iqbal through the month of November.

A changing of the guard ceremony at the mausoleum of Dr Iqbal outside Lahore’s Badshahi Masjid traditionally kicks off the events scheduled for the day.
