It is confirmed that arthur will get extension the only changes made will beour the batting and bowling coaches and we will have a new cheif selector and selection committee.

Any idea about batting/bowling coach and selectors???

KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is likely to extend the contract of men’s cricket team head coach Mickey Arthur till ICC T20 Cricket World Cup 2020, which will kick-off from October 18, 2020 in Australia.

According to some reliable sources, the board is not sure about taking any decision yet as the cricket committee headed by its Managing Director (MD) Wasim Khan will overview the performance of players and coaches in detail later this month.

On the other hand, the outgoing PCB chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq could be the next batting consultant of the team as the board reportedly is not satisfied with the performance of batting coach, Grant Flower, who has been with the team since the last World Cup.

Meanwhile, the PCB has already asked head coach Mickey Arthur to apply afresh if he wants to continue his job with the national cricket team.

Mickey Arthur, whose 3-year contract ended with the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, met with PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani and MD Wasim Khan in London after World Cup 2019 and expressed his desire to continue as the coach.

Inzimam shouldnt be the batting coach he has already been toxic for Pakistan cricket, andy flower should be made the batting coach, but overall its a good decision by pcb to extend the contract of mickey arthur.

Micky Authur's ODI record in bilateral series against New Zealand, England, Australia and South Africa

26 losses and 5 wins
Club level performance in the Asia Cup
His test record is even more shambolic

The great Micky Authur :thumbsup

Apart from CT

We played like minnows and the coach is rewarded for it. Micky Authur is not wanted by anyone despite his contract ending( he did his best to get a gig according to media reports but no one wanted him).

He played Faheem Ashraf for so long despite not being good enough. His flawed strategy of batting depth and having so many AR made our bowling attack into a pop gun . Thanksfully Sarfraz changed that and played four wicket taking options in the WC.

After WI loss, he resorted to his old habits(remember Asia cup) by playing no Imad Wasim, filling 10 overs through Hafeez/Haris and Malik. It proved to be a disaster against Australia.

The idea of playing Asif Ali in ODI cricket was a joke and Micky is joke as well

I forgot to add. He hated the idea of playing a front line spinner in LOIs. Always picked spinners who could bat a bit as well like Muhammad Nawaz and Shadab Khan. He wanted Shadab to become an AR as well Instead of making Shadab Khan a front line spinner and improve his bowling further

He picked Bilal Asif in test cricket who could bat a bit as well :))

I have been saying this in other posts and threads, exactly what i wanted to say, saved my time typing in this thread...

His love for bits and pieces is evident... He didnt give a chance to asghar in tests who was a better spinner due to lack of batting... Also that is the case he went for yasir shah in LOIs who was a known failure.

He expect every bowler to bat a bit and also every batsman to bowl a bit...

Having said all that, if his replacements were Waqar or Moin Khan then it is better to have MICKEY instead..

Why?

Waqar never has a settled batting order, he will disturb the batting order in every game

Moin plays his buddies from Omar Associates, Moin Academy, might even bring his son Azam Khan, he is such vulnerable guy to break young careers.. He will uproot the word professionalism and hardwork from the young hearts

He is better than both but Micky is not a long term option.

Mickey should not be made coach again. He made tactical blunders , its better to look to get in new applications.

We can’t give a decade to a coach just for winning Champions Trophy: Zaheer Abbas

Legendary Pakistan cricketer Zaheer Abbas has laid the road map for Pakistan cricket team and given his opinion as to how the 1992 World Champions can regain their former glory. Sarfaraz Ahmed and his troops came under immense scrutiny following their disastrous World Cup campaign which saw the team crash out of the group stage itself. Fans and experts alike have called for changes with chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq already stepping down from his role.

Abbas has now weighed into how Pakistan can get back at producing positive results in big games and he believes that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should look at appointing local coaches, who have given everything for the game.

“For last two decades or so, the PCB has heavily relied on foreign coaches and never trusted local talent,” Abbas was quoted as saying by The Nation. “Pakistan is blessed with great talent while our coaches have delivered well for the country in the past and they are capable of performing at the highest level.”

“The PCB needs to provide opportunities to the seasoned local coaches, who have given their lives to cricket.

“If we closely monitor the performances of foreign coaches, they have not given any extraordinary performances. We can’t give a decade to a coach just because (he) helped the team (win) the Champions Trophy. Now it’s (been) more than two years (since) the team won an ICC event.”

Abbas isn’t the only former great to call for big changes in the team as former pace spearhead Shoaib Akhtar had called for Sarfaraz Ahmed to step down as captain. Akhtar also gave his opinion into who should take up the role after Sarfaraz.

“He should be used for his wicket-keeping and batting skills,” Akhtar said in his YouTube video as reported by CricketPakistan.com.pk. “No way should he continue as captain of the team. He should not be the captain in any format.”

“Haris Sohail should be made the captain. He should captain the side in ODIs and T20Is. They should test him (Babar Azam) in Test cricket. I wish him the best. He has scored a lot of runs,” he added.

Arthur's contract likely to be extended till T20 World Cup

Pakistan Head Coach Mickey Arthur is expected to get an extension in his contract till the 2020 International Cricket Council (ICC) T20 World Cup in Australia.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is likely to take some important decisions after the Cricket Committee's meeting on August 2.

Arthur and Batting Coach Grant Flower arrived in Lahore on Sunday to attend the meeting.

Arthur had earlier expressed his intention to continue as the head coach of Pakistan team, whereas Flower has already communicated to the PCB that he won’t be available for any further coaching assignment.

Former Chief Selector Inzamamul Haq and Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed will also attend the meeting and give their recommendations regarding the future direction of Pakistan team.

According to sources, Sarfaraz Ahmed is likely to be retained as captain in Twenty20 Internationals. The PCB is looking to appoint a new captain for Tests and One-Day Internationals (ODIs). Names of Shan Masood, Asad Shafiq and Imad Wasim are in consideration for Test and ODI captaincy. However, sources further added that Shan Masood is the top contender to take over the Test reigns from Sarfaraz Ahmed.

The Cricket Committee will review the Pakistan men’s and women’s cricket teams, as well as Under-16 and Under-19 teams’ performances and make recommendations to the PCB chairman.
