Simple question. Should Shaheen stay in the WC squad or not?
He has disappointed a lot of people with his performance and his speed is down as well which is very surprising. Maybe he's hiding an injury.
If he gets dropped, who do you think should replace him?

Shaheen Shah has really disappointed me with his performances.

I would take Sohail tanvir as hes got variations and can swing the new ball. He was great in PSL too.

Abdul Wahab Riaz should replace hasnain as i can't see management showing faith in hasnain

Haven't seen him recently. Does he bring the ball back in like Trent Boult? Boult swings right from the hand though.

Shaheen's fielding is appalling - basically the new lambu Irfan in the field and can be dropped just on the basis of that alone.

You can't keep spilling these sitters against powerful batting teams like England who need no second chance.

Obviously Pakistan should persist with Shaheen. How is that even a question.
Shaheen has been easily our best bowler ever since he has started to play for Pakistan. For the very first he has had two bad games and people are thinking of bringing a failure like Sohail Tanvir in place of Shaheen.Every bowler has gone for runs on this tour and right now Shaheen is the only guy who swings the ball in this team.

2 games and people want him dropped, when all others are bowling equally bad.

We don't have McGraths and Wasims to replace him in Pakistan.

He is still our best bowler and will only learn from these bashings, wait and watch him rule the World Cup.

His field is atrocious! He dropped a simple catch and was too lazy to go for another one.

Pakistani bowlers arent good when it comes to adapting to lengths or variations. If they keep getting hit for runs, then they keep getting hammered. None of them learn from their mistakes

He has to be persisted with. He's easily been our best bowler in the last year in ODI's and is probably one of the first names of the team sheet. A couple of bad games doesn't mean much, no way he should be dropped.

He needs more experience a few hits and he will get under pressure he needs to be replaced by someone who can handle pressure and think out of the box someone who can compete with batsmen

Two horrible games shouldn't rule him out. Others like Hasan Ali and Faheem have been mediocre for a while. Shaheen was our best pacer vs SA. I still back him to come back from this on slightly better pitches.

My main concern was that he's bowling a lot slower than he usually does. So is he injured or something?

You got to question the IQ of people on here when they start calling for Sohail Tanvir's selection and ask for our best bowler to be dropped after couple of shockingly bad performances.

Again, what were other superstars doing?

No one was fielding like Jhonty Rhodes, Babar and Imad dropped dollies. Faheem also dropped one. Asif gave away 4 runs in the field like they were nothing.

His first priority is his bowling, which has been pretty good until these 2 matches. He can always learn to field better.

Who here wants Sohail Tanvir to be wanted?? Lol.

Yes.

Is this even a question?

Lol wth :)))

Two bad performances and people are calling for his head...

No he shouldn’t be dropped. He is very new to international cricket so it will take time. He will improve the more he plays.

This vote should be public. I want to see who voted "No". Name and shame.

He bowls too many deliveries in the slot. He needs to either bowl a tad shorter or go fuller.

Yes because the cupboard is empty. Who will you replace him with and please do not mention Sohail Tanvir or Wahab Riaz.

My main concern was that he's bowling a lot slower than he usually does. So is he injured or something?

That's his normal pace, really. He's been bowling in the range of 84-88 mph, which is how fast he's always bowled. He's never been really quick

He's an attacking bowler who looks for wickets all the time. Hasn't realized yet that this approach doesn't work when you're bowling on these English pancakes with a white kookaburra. Hopefully, he will realize that soon.

Yes, let's drop him for Sohail Tanvir. Good Idea. It's not like this is a learning curve for SSA or anything.

I don't think that's the issue. His line is off in these two games, consistently going down leg. Also that tactic of coming round the wicket and bowling 80 mph length balls into the batsman's body will never work in England.

Shaheen is young and on Learning curve for him right now. Please leave him alone, on a pitch which has little assistance for the bowlers he will make breakthrough for us. Even English bowlers took phaanti from us, so dont think both side bowlers are bad just rubbish pitches for the Batsmen.

This thread

Shaheen sure needs to improve but we cant drop him for good because of a couple of matches played on highways.

I much prefer Junaid Khan too him. Shaheen struggles to take wickets.

Perhaps he became a little complacent after initial success.

Needs to lose the superstar mentality that has inflicted guys like Hasan and Shadab as well and actually put his head down and perform. I knew something was wrong when pictures of him were posted getting fancy haircut in preparation for WC. There is still time and hope for him. Inshallah he will get back to performing soon.

Even guys like Ambrose will struggle in this batsman friendly era. you gotta be really quick and mix up the deliveries intelligently. Being quick alone is not enough as Wahab, Umesh have proved brainless bowling can undo all your pace.

Harsh on young lad.
He is our best bowler, he is young and has the right to fail in two games

Hasan Ali and Junaid Khan would be the first names in my XI. Shaheen has got height, which can bail him out, lets see how he goes tomorrow, must be given another go. I still don't agree with fast tracking youngsters into international cricket without proper domestic cricket experience.

Irfan was actually a decent catcher. His ground fielding was pretty bad though.

People are overreacting so much. This is the undisputed #1 batting side in the world, that too by a distance, playing in their own backyard with their preferred flat pitches.

Not every game will be against this level of batting, pitches will be better due to them being under ICC control (champions trophy pitches were decent) and he'll get time to improve.

No drop him. Bring back Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Sami, Aizaz Cheema. They will single handedly win WC for Pakistan.

Well they need to stick with Shaheen for the World Cup but I am not sure about Hasnain. You can have one bowler in your team for a learning curve but cannot have 2 in the squad.

I think he should be persisted with because he is still young and I am confident that he will improve as a bowler by playing more and more and will mentally toughen up and there is no doubt he has the talent to become a world class bowler.

He was our best ODI player in 2018 and best bowler during the SA tour earlier this year, so it would be a bit extreme to discard him from the squad altogether. In fact it's the perfect recipe to dent a younger's player confidence and consequently destroy their career.

This happened to Umar Akmal in the test side, who in spite of decent performances in his first away leg of test tours (Aus, NZ and Eng), he was dropped after one test in the UAE. So lets not make the same mistakes.

I expect conditions to stay the way they are in England, so I will say if Shaheen cannot get back to bowling 140+ he needs to be dropped. Can't be trundling at 130 on such true wickets.

Removing him from the squad is not the solution as he is no inferior to the likes of Junaid Khan, Hasan Ali etc.

Was much better today. His average speed was similar to hasnain today if not better. Loved his 90 mph Yorker to Willey. More to come from him insha'Allah

People are praising a bowling effort of 10-0-82-4 with two of those wickets being Woakes and Willey trying to go hell for leather.

It was pathetic bowling and he was getting smashed by tailenders.

His first spell was a marked improvement from the previous matches.

It's the end for M. Hasnain instead.

The problem for Mickey is that Junaid is also out of favours. So how will he replace two bowlers?

Amir for Fahim, Junaid for Shinwari and Hasnain for Rauf..... too much to ask though.

Ideally only one of Hasnain and Shaheen should have been selected. Both are extremely raw, plus Hasnain doesn't even bowl 90mph - the reason he was selected for :))

Good comeback after miserable showing in the first 2 x ODIs. His rhythm is back and as a result back to bowling 140-145.

I know he was expensive but honestly it’s been one of those series where the bowlers have had it really tough. For me the positive is that he is back amongst the wickets. He used his bouncer to great effect.

Yes, he's young and he's learning game by game. Might not be economical but gets wickets. Who are you gonna replace him with? Wahab? That guy goes for 10 RPO.

Wahab has been selected anyways.

Archer Goes For 62 With 1 Wicket Mark Wood Goes for 74 England Premium Bowlers on these pitches .
And You Cant blame Hasan or Shaheen for Conceding 70 runs on these pitches .where they bowled At Death Overs .
For me First 2 matches Were Somewhat disappointing bcz He wasnt Bowling with plan and looked Completely out of touch.
In last match he bowled Really really Well .

Well not long ago he was supposed to be the best young fast bowling talent to have come out of Pakistan in years and only after one series people have started doubting his ability. The guy is a must in World Cup and needs to be given a long rope even if he doesn't perform up to his standards in the world cup.

Lost my hope with Shaheen Shah Afridi

He got battered by the Afghan batsmen and cost us the match, I don’t think there is space for him in the starting 11. He is in really poor form!!!!

We never learn. We hype up these young players like they are ATG and then they falter and become mediocre after just 1-2 years of international cricket.

10-80, 10-83, 10-82 and 6-51 in his last four matches.

Mashallah amazing talent.

I have been saying this for a long time about Pakistan. They have an uncanny knack of regressing through their careers. You don't really see it much in other countries.

Oh please as if the other bowlers have been setting the world on fire.

Shaheen is our second best bowler after Usman Khan Shinwari.

You can't lose hope in him that fast. He's still an emerging player. Give him time. He will learn from this.

This is the first tour of England. He will only improve. He is going through a tough phase after bowling brilliantly in UAE.

Shaheen is still better than the spray gun WAhab.

Wahab always performs in world cups, he brought Pakistan back in the game today

Since CT. Be sensible people.

Yeah he's struggled in the last few matches. It's not the end of the world.
