A lot of people have it against Wahab but what makes Junaid an auto pick?

Nothing against Wahab. On merit, he doesn't deserve a place.

Even Junaid, for all his bravado and occasional good spells, loses out because of his batting and fielding.
 
Depends on conditions. If it is overcast, then go with Junaid. If it is sunny, then go with Riaz.
 
Wahab brings out his best when he is benched.

on current form Junaid just shades Wahab for the place in the side...

But all that can change in one game
 
Wahab is half injured. I would go with Junaid.

If Fahim is played and he does a better job than Junaid, I'd drop the latter from the next match and play an extra batsman.
 
Id leave both out and go with fahim

I'm not trusting Fahim at all, just the few overs he had in the practice match against Aus was indicative enough that he won't be a good bowler for a while and we should primarily rely on him for high strike rate batting.

Wahab has just let me down way too much in recent memory and on top of that got a little injured against Bangladesh. Would probably go with Junaid reluctantly. We really need one more solid pace bowler to join Amir and Hasan Ali.
 
Junaid because Amir is the only new ball bowler in the team. Moreover, Kohli might truly be Junaid's bunny.
 
If both are fit. I will play both against India as they are not comfortable against decent pace bowling in alien conditions.

Not sure about the hate here for junaid. He is an auto pick for me as he is the only bowler available to share the new ball with Amir. And he has indeed did well in Aus and both left armies hunt in pair which is vital.

Hasan as first change bowler and wahab as the middle overs pace sensation, though he doesn't have any swing facing a pace bowler under overcast conditions in eng and the slopes in equation is a nightmare for any batsman.

I hope pak learn from their past mistake of which they did in Aus CWC'15 playing three spinners. In that match India made 150 from pacers in 30 overs and 150 from spinners in 20 overs.
 
I would go with Wahab. Who doesn't want 150 kmph, bouncing, fierce, aggressive bowler! Junaid is just a noob who will bowl no balls, full tosses at 125-130 kmph—and he WILL BE targeted... keep in mind that Wahab can bat better too, he can score a quick fire half century, while Junaid will be clean bowled at 0 (2).

Junaid needs to play so kohli can smack him all around the park for trash talking before the game..
 
Wahab is rubbish in LO. What use will he be in English conditions with 2 new balls? I'll go with Junaid.
 
We have 3 spinners in the side; Hafeez, Malik and Imad, no need to play Shadab in this preassure match. Go with 4 seamers.

To be honest, question marks have to be raised on whether it is time to move on from Wahab now, it is very hard to pick him, he hasn't done anything in ODI's for a while.

Should strictly be restricted to test cricket.
 
I would definitely go with Junaid Khan as he is a match winner on his day like the 2012 series against India. Wahab hasnt won much matches single handedly.
 
Event if its the day of Wahab Riaz he might not go for many runs but cant expect a lot of wickets considering the length he bowls. In case of Junaid if its his day he can get the top order wickets as he bowls a fuller lenght.
 
Wahab Riaz is a liability that's why. JK should play based on warm up

I frankly don't see how Junaid (FC Ave 30) is markedly better than Faheem
(Fc Ave 24). If it is in fact overcast than the latter will be better too. Neither
very exciting as a bowler but at least Faheem by the looks of him could tilt
a match with the bat.

Too big an occassion for someone like Fahim to play just on his bowling, I would play him as a batsman, who can bowl a few overs in the place of Imad, who can neither spin, nor field, nor bat properly down the order..

Will have a permanent bowler like Junaid over a part timer with no International experience as Fahim...

But the batting resources are such that Fahim is very important down the order with Shadab

unfortunately when it comes to junaid, 'specialist bowler' does not mean ability to bowl, but inability to bat. fahim as bowler is about as good as junaid on present form, has in fact been doing much better in domestics.
 
Wahab and Junaid will get spanked by the Indians.

I'd play Abbass/Amir/Hasan as my three seamers.

Can't compare domestics to an International tournament, based on the warm up game, Junaid picked up the most wickets vs Bangladesh, picking up the likes of Sarkar, Shakib Kayes... I would definitely give him a chance over Fahim, who bowled vs Bangla and Aus but didn't seem all that impressive.. got took apart for plenty of runs

Junaid also did pretty well against WI and Aus in recent times... 3 pace attack with Fahim, Shadab and Hafeez as allrounders make for a balance , the posh lad with zero skills has to be dropped as a result
 
150kmph with erratic line and length, yea sure it does create some match thrilling sessions of bowling, but in between that there is a whole lot of crap to deal with, including being the most expensive bowlers twice in the career, and having your name there twice in the list of most runs conceded in ODIs... inclduing once in the place the tournament is being held i.e England... I feel Wahab deserves to benched for the first game

I would agree but we don't have an international tournament to rely on for comparison, we have one lousy warm up game, and 15-some domestic games, and the problem is that is it not even close on the latter front. Junaid
has just been absolute rubbish lately. Dont know why one would expect him to be better against international opposition than domestic one. I don't know why you think he has done pretty well recently - he was at best OK at worst indifferent against Aus and hasnt taken three wickets or more in an ODI since 2013. Again, I don't rate Fahim that highly as a bowler but he has been top wicket taker in two tourneys this spring, beating out plenty of specialist bowlers, and the alternatives aren't better as far as I can tell.

Because Fahims bowling in domestics has been better than all other specialist bowlers in the country, and
far better than Junaid, who has been pretty awful up and until one warm up match against bangladesh.
 
I would pick wahab definitely but since junaid has said many things so I m inclined to pick him and it is gonna be fun when virat will smash him all around the park.
 
Both aren't good enough. However, Wahab tends to show up to the party in big tournaments, I'd be willing to take that risk. Junaid brings very little to the table.
 
Both are rubbish so it doesn't matter. Also, the notion that Wahab is a big match/tournament player is a myth that will be busted sooner or later; he is a fluke performer who has 2 good games in 10. It just so happens that those two games generally come in a tournament.
 
Wahabs on his day is more explosive but hes a liability now and tends to go around the park to much, Unless conditons are overcast then Junaid will be easy picks with his trundler like pace or lack of it should i say. Both players are a big risk to have in the side.
 
My three pick up pacers are Amir,Hasan and Abbas.Imad and Fahim.
 
Ideally, both should play on a pitch that has something in it for the pacers. A four-pronged pace attack with Imad or Shadab as the sole-spinner would be great to watch. However, if it really comes down to this then I would want Junaid in the team. He's more versatile than Riaz and Kohli is his bunny.
 
Even if they borrow Mitchell Starc from Australia for this game they are in for a phainty. Sorry that is how it is for now.
 
Still among the two worse bowlers would pick Wahab. He has that spark while playing against India.May punch above his weight.

Yes, that is what it is. He was awful in the WT20 last year, but that is because he had a couple of good games against England prior to that. He will never been good enough to produce consistent performances over the course of 2-3 series. He has been torrid for a while, and if he has one good game in the CT, people will continue to run with the narrative that he is a big match player.

Need a pacer like starc and cummins at the end just like what they did to Nwz, Wahab is my first choice.
 
I would go with junaid over wahab and fahim because junaid is a wicket taker. He will be as expensive as the other 2 but he will get wickets and as long as he doesn't bowl at the death his economy should be around 6. With fahim and wahab they will just get smashed and won't even take any wickets so no point playing them.
 
Junaid Khan, easily. Although Wahab's lower order batting can be useful at times the lad just gives to many runs away. More often then not his spell is the difference between having won or lost the match. It's just short ones being belted to the boundary. Junaid seems to be far more consistent with the ball and capable of pitching it up to the batsman possibly making it swing.

Junaid Khan hands down. Sunday is expected to be overcast, we can utilize Junaid to steam in with the new ball while Hasan comes on as first change with his variety. Playing Wahab greatly reduces Hasan's efficiency in the middle overs.
