Should the last World Cup league stage games be played at the same time?

Obviously not something that broadcasters would like but it's done in football to ensure that sides are essentially equal going into that final game...

Not saying its proving to be a problem here cos net run rate isn't proving to be an issue so far .. But if it did then it would favour the sides playing last and be a disadvantage to those playing first...

I actually like this idea. But, not possible with one group. You will end up with 5 games at once (don't think broadcasters would agree).

Yes if it is benefetting India as simple as that, now op you will see most don't want it because it benefits their team.

Washed out matches should be played again if teams are likely to go through by margin of one point only. Good for broadcasters, fans & teams.

Last group games in first round of any major tournament should be played simultaneously.

Note: This is NOT conspiracy theory thread. Just simple common sense adopted by other sports.

Premise: This year, final games of the first round of CWC is pretty straight forward with only 3 teams in the running for the final 2 spots. But what if there were 5 contenders? Plenty of scope for collusion.

Even otherwise, doesn't make sense Pakistan should know what to chase tomorrow. Puts Kiwis at a disadvantage.

On the other hand, England and New Zealand can influence each other to go easy and come up with an outcome which makes it impossible for Pakistan to achieve the right run rate.

That is why all last premier league games as well as final games of first round at Football world cup and the European championships and even Champions league are played simultaneously. Denies teams unfair advantage and also removes doubts from supporters' minds.

I understand TV money being divided with 5 games going on simultaneously but imagine the drama on the day - with slots changing hands constantly ball by ball.

No. We don't need to copy football in everything. It works in football as that's a more simple sport than cricket.

No. It will be a massive flop for the broadcaster. Also genuine cricket fans will not be able to follow all the matches.
