You really think that Pakistan not sending its players to the IPL for that one season was the cause of our non-participation for the past however many years? In other words, you're saying that had we sent our players that season, we'd have seen Pakistani participation in the IPL for the last 10-13 years? Come on
That decision had no bearing whatsoever on the subsequent seasons. India does not play with Pakistan on an international level; and here you are talking about Pakistani participation in an Indian domestic league?
PCB’s stunt cost Pakistani players at least 3-4 additional seasons if not more. However, they would have been banned by the Modi regime eventually.
Pakistan players were humiliated in the 2010 auction. All of them were unsold, and this was a direct reaction to PCB blocking the players from participating in the 2009 edition.
PCB did not act in good faith and tried to sabotage IPL by blocking its players in 2009. PCB thought it would damage but it backfired in spectacular fashion.
IPL became bigger and bigger with every year and it showed that it did not need Pakistani players to become successful.
They did not open their doors after 2009 because they did not need Pakistani players to be successful, and they could no longer trust PCB. If PCB could block its players once, it could do it again.
IPL franchises did not find it feasible to build their squads around Pakistani players when their availability was subject to PCB’s whims.
PCB learned an important lesson in the 2010 auction: you cannot walk in and out of the tournament depending on your mood.
Nevertheless, as I said above, Pakistani players would have been eventually banned under Modi regime anyway, but there is no doubt that they would have played in the IPL until around 2013-14.
After all, Pakistan did play it’s last bilateral series vs India in 2012-13, and if PCB did not act in bad faith in 2009, the players would have played IPL as well.
PCB’s shallow arrogance and delusions certainly cost the likes of Afridi, Misbah, Malik, Hafeez, Gul, Ajmal, Akmal, Wahab etc. a fortune. These players would have certainly played in the IPL in the first few seasons and would have earned a lot of money.
