Well some rumours have started that Ehsan Mani is under pressure to resign.

If Wasim Khan resigns, it would be that one last nail on the coffin for pak cricket.. Everything will be going downhill. Corrupt men taking over the game and that never ending circle of chop and change will be back.
I hope he stays.

He has not done enough to be retained and is a highly unpopular figure in Pakistan.

If Wasim Khan is not retained I am gonna miss the great cricket memories he left behind.

That is a meaningless statement. No one that challenges any status quo will ever be popular.WK has done a good job, he has created an excellent Domestic setup, bubbles worked well for International tours but not for PSL but he wasn't entirely in control of that.

Excellent domestic setup? Who said that? Even CA is looking to change its domestic set up and we changed it to theirs and how the bubbles worked well? when Pakistan is probably the only team which has had a plethora of COVID cases before touring every series in COVID era. He is such a highly unpopular figure in Pakistan that the day he leaves PCB, there are going to be actual bhangra parties.

We had no domestic setup at all. It was a hotchpotch for decades, he has created a competition worthy of the name. What's wrong with using Aus as a model? Theirs has worked the best and using it as model is excellent, just wish it was done 20 years ago.
The bubbles worked excellently against SA, which was under his control but not so well with PSL but it wasn't totally under his control. But as we saw with IPL, they are not easy to make work.
Being unpopular amongst the PCB crooks is a badge of honour. That alone should give him a job for life.

Wasim Khan has been a complete failure.

He thought he would get a hero’s welcome because he carries a UK passport and played the “I left England to help Pakistan” card.

However, he did not get the red carpet welcome that he was expecting and since then, he has been constantly crying about the hostility that he has faced in the media and from the ex-players.

As a result, he is waiting for his contract to end so that he can go back to England.

He has completely messed up every decision. First, he claimed that combining the coach and selector roles was a ‘necessary innovation’ in Pakistan cricket but when Misbah struggled to balance both roles, he reversed the ‘necessary innovation’ instead of standing his ground and sacking Misbah, replacing him with someone else in this dual role.

By scrapping the dual role after just one person at the helm, we failed to learn if (a) the system did not work or if (b) Misbah was the wrong person for the role.

Moreover, he messed up hosting PSL in Pakistan twice. In 2020, the COVID bubble was breached and the tournament was suspended; in 2021, the COVID bubble did not even exist in the first place.

People who give him credit for restoring Test cricket in Pakistan and reestablishing it as Pakistan’s permanent venue need to realize that he simply found himself at the right place at the right time.

He has capitalized on the efforts and struggles of Sethi and Shahryar Khan who did the dirty work and took incremental steps when Pakistan had absolutely no credibility in terms of proving adequate security.

Convincing players and boards to tour Pakistan in 2020-21 is a lot easier than it was in 2015-16, because now PCB can point out to the dozen plus matches that Pakistan have hosted in the last 6 years as proof of its capability.

Back then, PCB had nothing to fall back on other than provide verbal assurances and attempt to ‘buy’ the concerns of cash-strapped boards.

As far as restructuring domestic cricket is concerned, we need to realize that it has nothing to do with Wasim Khan. It is Imran Khan’s idea and he has provided the framework.

Moreover, there is not a shred of evidence that this new system will work or will work better than the previous one.

Also, when the current government dissolves in a couple of years (which is inevitable), departmental cricket is likely to be restored.

Wasim Khan has not exhibited any demonstrable leadership and management skills. He has been paired with a lethargic and senile Chairman and the two of them have not made any impact in any aspect.

Moving forward, it is imperative that dual passport holders should not be allowed to hold executive positions in the PCB.

If you are a foreign passport holder, you do not have stakes in the country. Your foreign passport is your safety blanket - your insurance policy. When things go south, you can pack your bags and leave without facing the music and undergoing any accountability.

This experiment of hiring dual passport holders should end with this incompetent duo of Wasim and Mani.

This passport mention seems to indicate a chip on shoulder mentality.

This is what our journos are suffering from - expected better.

It is the reality.

You should not be holding executive positions in a government organization as a dual national.

Call it whatever you want. It is what it is.

Any rational basis for that? If it is a matter of incentives than u got it entirely wrong!

Seems like the logic which says a private company should never hire an employee who is financially stable enough to leave the job and sustain himself if things go south? Reputation and monetary reward is incentive enough for an individual to do a job with honesty.

It is not reality as well. Governments regularly hire foreign consultants, even management consultancy firms as well. Governments all over the world successfully invite foreign companies to for example exploit precious natural resources etc...

You know a guy is doing a great job and is here to say when Mamoon is on a which hunt against him

wajid

Consultancies are different. I am not talking about consultancy or hiring someone on a part-time contract.

I am talking about full-time employees, especially those employed in executive roles.

You should not be employed in an executive position in a government organization when you are a dual national.

The rationale behind this is that your foreign passport is your safety blanket - your insurance policy.

If things do not work out, or if they go completely south, you will pack your bags and leave.

Wasim Khan can claim to be a patriotic, but if he is given the choice to choose between the UK passport and the Pakistani passport, what will he do?

He won’t even think twice before singing “God save the Queen” and will discard his Pakistani passport.

He will do that because he is UK based, he has family, assets, property etc. in that country. He has no reason to give preference to the Pakistani passport and as a result, such a person is not qualified to serve in a government job in Pakistan.

If he wants to serve PCB with his incompetency and mismanagement in an consultancy/advisory role, he is more than welcome. However, he should not be the CEO of PCB.

You need to separate out your hate for overseas based people from this argument. Its a little too obvious.

Wasim Khan's skillset - discuss that by all means, else what's the difference between you and the social media crowd?
