Lahore December 19: The PCB would like to reiterate its commitment to its premier First-Class tournament, Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and confirm that this year’s final will also be broadcast LIVE on PTV Sports.

The Final will have a title sponsor as per the previous practice of the last ten years, and PTV Sports, our Domestic Broadcast partner, will be beaming the match LIVE. All the usual Branding/Marketing practices will be carried out for the Final.

It is important to understand that unlike other cricket Boards in the region, the PCB sells Domestic Cricket rights on an exclusive basis and the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy is an integral part of the package sponsorship deal.

Most other cricket boards especially in the Asian region, bundle their International Cricket sponsorship/broadcast deals with Domestic cricket. PCB on the other hand makes an exclusive effort and succeeds in selling Domestic Cricket sponsorship rights separately.

The PCB Marketing Department is committed to further improving the existing deals with its sponsors for both Domestic and International cricket, at the same time modern digital broadcast practices are being considered for the next season.

Weren't there semifinals last year as well?

They should have had them again. At least would have made some competitive games for viewers

Was an easy win for SNGPL when they met earlier in the season. Hoping for a good game and hopefully a big turn out but not optimistic of a huge crowd.

Azhar, Hafeez declared fit to play in QAT final in Karachi

Pakistan opener Azhar Ali and middle-order batsman Mohammad Hafeez have both passed their fitness tests and are set to represent SNGPL in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy (QAT) five-day final scheduled to be played in Karachi starting Thursday.

Azhar, who was an integral part of his team's 2017 Champions Trophy triumph, had picked up a knee injury during a series against Sri Lanka.

But the 32-year-old, having fully recovered from the knock, recently requested a fitness test so he could play in the QAT final and also be reincorporated into the national fold ahead of the upcoming New Zealand tour.

Hafeez, meanwhile, took a break following the Sri Lanka home series and spent time in England to rectify his faulty bowling action which had landed him a fresh one-year ban bowling ban from the International Cricket Council in November.

The duo has, however, proven their fitness, following which they were given the green signal to join their departmental side, which will take on Wapda in the five-day final in Karachi.

If all goes according to plan, Azhar should make the One Day International squad for the tour down under, whereas Hafeez is expected to be included in the Twenty20 International side, as well as the ODI squad.

Isn't the National Stadium undergoing renovations? The stadium is fit to play?

Asif bowling at 115-125. Still very accurate with nip but with this pace he will struggle on flat international tracks.

There is no speed metre.

Comfortably in 130s. All three batsmen, that includes our best test bat Azhar, struggled against him on a flat Karachi pitch

Butt, Asif and Kamran in one team... if you know what I mean.. Allah khair kare

he looks a yard or even two slower then he did in 2010. Even in 2010 he was not consistently 130's he mostly bowled 125-132 now he is even slower.

Disappointing that Azhar and Shafiq haven't made runs. Bit worried about how this knee injury is affecting Azhar's form.

3 wickets for Wahab who is one of the established names that are mostly featuring in this final, with not many new faces.

All oldies and TTF playing..nothing exciting.

Mohammad Hafeez - 37
Azhar Ali - 32
Khurram Shehzad - 35
Asad Shafiq - 31
Iftikhar Ahmed - 27
Mohammad Rizwan - 25
Imran Khalid - 34
Yasir Shah - 31
Samiullah Khan - 35
Azizullah - 25
Mohammad Abbas - 27

Salman Butt - 33
Zahid Mansoor - 27
Adnan Raees - 36
Mohammad Saad - 27
Aamer Sajjad - 36
Kamran Akmal - 35
Khushdil Shah - 22
Khalid Usman - 31
Waqas Maqsood - 30
Wahab Riaz - 32
Mohammad Asif - 35

So the only players under 30 are Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Rizwan, Azizullah, Mohammad Abbas, Zahid Mansoor, Mohammad Saad, and Khushdil Shah.

Besides Abbas, none of them are really in contention for selection at the moment. From the over-30s, besides the ones who are already established in the Pakistan team, I don't think many are likely to play for Pakistan.

No wonder there isn't a great deal of interest in this match.

Mohammad Rizwan (68*) and Iftikhar Ahmed (66) continue their excellent partnership (148*) as SNGPL look to build a robust lead which now stands at 157; SNGPL 169/4 #QEATrophyFinal #Cricket

Iftikhar Ahmed (82*) and Mohammad Rizwan (78*) take SNGPL to Lunch on a strong 198/4 with a lead of 186 against WAPDA on Day 4 of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy final #QEATrophyFinal #Cricket

Pitch is not world-class. TV coverage is poor. Entrance of public is not allowed.

Normally if you see, the entry in First Class matches is free in County Season, Sheffield Shield, Ranjhi Trophy etc etc. but in Quaid e Azam trophy TV coverage is absolutely poor, Commentary is so irritating. Cricket lover like me not watching that match but following score on Cricinfo.

Salman Butt's miserable QeA Trophy comes to an end with 4 in his last innings. Dismissed by Samiullah Khan.

When batsmen like Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed, who looked completely out of sorts at international level, are your leading runscorers in the final of your premier domestic competition...

Iftikhar and Rizwan played gun innings tbh considering their team's position when they came in.

When batsmen like Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed, who looked completely out of sorts at international level, are your leading runscorers in the final of your premier domestic competition...

but they face the same international bowler like wahab asif and those not able to get out these two batsman

Tbh they look cut above the rest including Asad and Azhar harsh to dismiss them based on single test appearence

Scoring runs in the Final is not enough. See what they did in the whole Tournament. they are not even among TOP 5 Runs Scorers. I fully support that best bowlers and best batsman of the Quaid e Azam Trophy should get chance at International lever (in the right format), so it will encourage our First Class cricketers. I met many big names of First Class cricket, but almost all of the are highly demoralized / disappointed that PCB has to choose "****** players" or under-performance players, doesn't matter how good they perform in the QA Trophy.

Yawn. How uninspiring.

A useless game for the selectors as well.

Shows how much seniority is given importance in Pakistan. The reason you saw a lot of oldies in the first few editions of the PSL as well.

what is the pitch like, any pics of this?

All low scoring total's???

good bowling wicket or poor batting?
