Somerset vs Pakistanis | Tour Match | Taunton | Jul 3rd-5th, 2016 | Day 1

Masood :out this is the problem. Our batsman never goes on to score big after settling down.

Lol I think I heard the commies saying we have 80 years of experience at the crease now..

We're talking about a Pakistani side here. A collapse is always around the corner. So for that reason we should score at a healthy rate before we get out.

Said it before. This is why rotating the strike and getting runs when you can is important.

Shan gone and finally the misery ends for him after being given three chances.

And now misbah gets out on a duck. Sign of things to come?

Seem to be swinging conditions, even the commies are surprised by the movement. Batsmen still fishing though, worrying sign.

Misbah kept hanging his bat out to dry against the second new ball in the UAE too.

He is arguably the least technically secure of all the batsmen when outside Asia.

Need to score at a more brisk pace (if ever so slightly), but no point risking runouts.

Surprised these commies don't know Asad Shafiq considering that he did well against England last year.

Thanks for the wicket updates so far. Have you managed to get Shan and Misbah's wickets as well?

Shan Masood and Misbah wickets. Real poor stuff from Misbah...

I have watched the 90s cricket as well, but the thing is times have changed, this is not 90s anymore, decent teams have improved their run rates.

You do understand that they have "increased" rather than "improved" their run rates?

The quality of both Test and First Class cricket is far, far lower now than in the 1990's.

Just think of Pakistan: Mohammad Amir is the only player who would get into the 1996 Pakistan team in England. The younger incarnation of Younis Khan would have too, obviously.

Ah, you are right. That was a poor shot from Misbah. Unlike him. Looked a bit of a nervy shot.

Worrying trigger movement from Shan Masood as well, falling over big time!

Misbah always does this against decent pace bowling with a slip cordon.

It's why he was dropped in Australia in 2009-10, and only avoided the same fate in South Africa in 2012-13 because he was the captain.

And why he wasn't chosen for the 2001, 2006 or 2010 tours to England aged 27, 32 and 36.

He has the same technical defect as Mohammad Hafeez and Azhar Ali. He doesn't know where his off-stump is, and when defending on and outside off-stump he doesn't move his front foot.

So a ball at bail height six inches outside off-stump gets him every time. Asian pitches don't throw up such deliveries, but as soon as Hafeez, Azhar and Misbah get such a ball they are all at sea.

They don't pick up length early and are looking to play it off the pitch, so yeah they are on the backfoot to pitched up deliveries.

Saj the commentator just mentioned you and said he read your tweet on Misbah

Commies saying Asad has looked our best batsman. So underrated this guy.

People were saying that Younis Khan won't survive these condition.

Hopefully he will average 45+ in this series and solidify his claim as the greatest Pakistani batsman

We should get about 20 more overs of play or maybe even all 22 that are left.

Asad is a class in this PAK line-up; only where he is wasted at 6.

Shaan is a bit unlucky I guess -another day Umpire could have easily judged that pitching out-side leg. But, he has a tendency of cramping while playing leg-side shots.

244/4 is pretty decnet.

Nice recovery post 132/4 fiasco.

Test cricket is about winning sessions as a bunch.

In the future Asad should be our number 3/4 and Babar should bat at 6.

Well played. Asad and Younis... Need to carry on the good work.

Shafiq's SR tells you everything you need to know about the quality of the bowling attack.

Of course some practice is better than no practice, but there is nothing to get excited about this performance by the likes of Masood, Shafiq and Younis.
