Sarfaraz Ahmed at the presentation after Pakistan beat SL in the 2nd ODI:

"Sometimes match position is such that one has to show anger"

"The guys understand this well and I do apologise later"

"Our batting did collapse but we must give credit to Babar and Shadab"

"It was a slow pitch so no praise is enough for Babar and Shadab for the way they batted"

"And of course the bowlers bowled really well in a low scoring match"

"Babar is young and will adjust himself for Tests as he probably feels more comfortable in ODIs"

"I hope that in future he will perform as well in Tests as he does in ODIs"

"As pitch gets slower in 2nd innings it's not that easy to bat 2nd"

Great to see him backing Babar. Great confidence for the kid.
Both Babar and Shadab are world class talents and should be backed even when they are out of nick.

"Sometimes."

lol its every game As soon as the opposition exert a little bit of pressure he loses his rag with his players

Its unnecessary and not helpful whatsoever

Usually when you apologise for something it means you won't do it again.

Also, can't this thread be merged with the other one discussing the same thing?

He needs to be a little softer and wiser and stay cool and calm to give more positive result over a longer period, hoping he can do that.

I hope Sarfraz acts a bit more like Azhar Ali. Azhar's calm and composed demeanour as captain led to some really good performances. Sarfraz should look to emulate him, since we are touching new lows in ODI cricket right now thanks to Sarfraz's appalling behaviour.

I think it's more about sustaining success.

PAK fans know all to well about in-fighting ruining good teams. The 90s and early 00s are littered with examples.

Does sarf behaviour really matter if we keep winning this way? Some people just want to complain

I think its necessary. Specially for the young players. The likes of Shehzad and Umar Akmal were not given enough of this treatment to put them in their place. You see the results now, ten years later they are even worse than when they were teenagers. Its just how the Pakistani mentality is. YK was inconsiderate to everyone and had a weird personality that led to the oath-gate. Sarfraz wields the old-fashioned danda during the match which isn't as bad as everyone here thinks and the only thing that works to shape Pakistanis up.

He can’t change who he is! As long as he is getting good results, he will sustain his position in the team. Once he starts loosing, his game and career will be over. He is pretty much walking on a proverbial thin ice.

I dont see anything wrong with the way he reacts. Actually, this is something our players, with their laid-back attitude built over years of Misbah/Azhar, do need a lot of

He needs to be a bit calm , you dont have to shout at own players. Will shouting help the players to not drop catches and apart from that you need to set examples with your performances as well. His batting in tests against srilanka was below par and irresponsible and yesterday he didnt attempt a simple catch. Be an example for the guys instead of bossing them with your shouting.

Constant shouting and anger is effective only if the team knows that their captain can back it up with action. Imran for instance could afford it (although Imran never went OTT) given his connections and standing. Wasim, in his first stint, tried to emulate Imran and we all know what happened next. Sarfaraz just doesn't have the commanding personality or off-field clout to impress the younger lot with his shouting. Instead it'd be better that he tries to command respect (which he apparently does) but if he continues acting the way he does, I fear the players will soon start ignoring or even ridiculing his behavior.

he is like this and let him be no need to make him misbah ... backing his players always is what matters .
people are unnecessary making "halla gulla"" over his shouting . he just tells them you can do better than this
he doesnt say to do imposiible stuff .

disagree..softer sdoesnt work with this lot..a danda is how it should be..He is doing fine and has always done this. I hope he continues!

If that is the approach he is going to take, then he better find a way to find form with the bat because I wouldn't be surprised if someone out of frustration gives it back to him.

Forget his anger, work on your keeping and batting. He has a good head on him but that doesn't mean that he can excuse his form with the gloves and bat.

this is irony, yes?

then that someone will end up on the bench. This isnt a school team where you can get away with mouthing off at the captain. he's the captain and his authority must be respected. Some of you young whippersnappers will eventually learn this fact in life.

Sometimes the team selections is horrible as such, so now who will show that anger to Sarfraz. He is the captain of Pakistan to play all his friends first when deserving players sit and watch mediocrities

Lol I remember when Kami was captaining in some random domestic game people were calling him out when he yelled at some player. Let's see if they come to Sarfraz's aid here.

Yes exactly this isn't a school team and Sarfaraz is the captain of an international cricket team where his body language and what he utters out of his mouth is in plain sight of everyone. By cussing and calling out players on the ground, he is not exercising captains' authority as you claim but showing everyone that he is not in control of emotions and setting a bad example for his team mates who rely on him for encouragement and support.

This is a silly comment to make when you don't have a clue about my age. :trump2
