South Africa [325/6] beat Australia [315] by 10 runs in the final group stage match of WC2019

Apparently Smith has a bad elbow atm - which is why his power game is gone. He can only direct the ball atm. He should get better when his elbow's recovered.

Both low totals. Even DHoni will handle it Home ground flat decks against attacks not suitable for those surfaces.
 
72/2 after 15.2 overs (effectively 72/3 with Khawaja injury).

If Australia doesn't lose another wicket for 15 more overs, Australia should win this.
 
Faf said "slower ball is the way to go" lol But every bowler is bowling at the same speed. I think SA only devise strategies. They just don't follow through with it.

Dhoni did it once. Kohli has never done. Smith has done 3 times. If the tables were reversed, you would be harping about every chase being difficult in KOs.

What match winning innings. All the matches were won by the bowlers, especially the QF and final.

LOI cricket is what has been said from the start, try to read better next time.
 
This Pretorius is the same guy who was overlooked a few years ago to accommodate Pehulukwayo for quota purposes. He is a genuine allrounder. Averages about 38 with bat and 25 with ball in FC. SA have butchered more talent than all the other teams combined in last 2 decades. No wonder they find themselves at the bottom of the table now.

This world cup semi, quarter, final theory was created by guys who wants to hype a particular player. It has absolutely no meaning. Dhawan is an ICC tournament bully. But he also scored in other tournaments as well like Asia cup. You gotta deliver consistently.

yes on flat decks, low totals can be chased by most teams lol These bowlers had nothing in it.
 
Don't think South Africa are as bad as they have shown in this tournament. I think their batters were out of form and they carried some players who are past it.

Aus were 59-3 and Wahab was toying with Watson. Smith played an ice cool innings. In the final, they lost wicket in the first over itself.

By your criteria, AUS were playing with 4 fast bowlers on a SC pitch at Motera. Gambhir never played a match winning innings there. Yuvraj and Raina did. Remember, these are by your criteria

Dhawan's an icc tournament bully not a icc 2015 world cup ko bully. When you need so many parameters to prove something it is clear you are clearly stretching the facts.

Faf clearly said "slower balls are the key". I don't think i have seen any so far. Basically they don't have a "team strategy". They just let their bowlers do their thing.
 
I have never seen captains, players come together discuss when the match is running away. They keep bowling worse. This is why SA chokes in the world cup. You have to pull all the stops to turn things around. You cannot just go through motions.

To be fair their bowlers have done a decent job. They ran India and NZ close. Their batting is what has let them down.

260 was a low total. I did not see Dhoni or Kohli chasing it at Motera. Don't say it was a non flat pitch. We all know what happens at Motera on a dewy night. Atleast Dhoni and Gambhir did that in final. Yes, teams can chase when they have players like Smith, peak Dhoni etc.

Also I said one matchwinning innings for Gambhir in 2011 KOs, and that was in the final.

As long as my man Warner is in, Australia still got a chance. They need a partnership of 80-100 runs in the next 12 overs.
 
What exactly does Stoinis bring to the table? He can’t bat, can’t bowl. Seemingly lucky he doesn’t have competition.
 
Shamsi will be a decent replacement for Tahir. Fully expect South Africa to groom another spinner as next WC is in India.
 
SA used Shamsi in only one match which was against India lol IF they had used him against other teams he would have been effective. SA made so many tactical errors in this world cup

That pitch was turning. So wasn't a bad call. Had they had a 2nd spinner vs NZ, they would have won that game. Also against West Indies, they would have won had they got to 250ish .

As I keep saying even though it's not a classical South African team they are not as bad as they have shown.
