What's new

South Africa down Pakistan for 273 to seal 107-run victory and 3-0 whitewash

Every opposition of Pakistan will always want that Asad remains in the Pakistan team .

He is generally good with pulls and hooks. He does not have a good cut shot though.

He pulls compulsively but his technique is very poor. Every time he tries that shot there's a lot of risk involved. That's why he also gets out a lot on that shot

Both Shadab and Faheem look a bit tentative out there. Should back themselves to play their shots.

As I said, cut shot is his real weakness.:(

They look ok to me, you would want faheem in batting from over 60-new ball, when bowlers are coming back for 4th spells.
He can play, I'm not gonna accept the rubbish that he can't. Number 8 is right for him,
His problem is the compulsive hooking

The unfortunate thing is that this team is capable enough. But they lack application and that makes me sad. As I speak, Faheem is gone

He has 2 match winning100s against Bangladesh :shafiq2

Fawad the real deserving lad in place of Asad would have scored three double tons against us.Even Gillespie has a double ton against us! :vk2 We still want Asad to continue.

4 wickets before drinks first session when we needed a maximum of 1 wicket to fall... terrible

We should promote Shadab to bat at 5 in ODIs instead of those jokers (Hafeez, Malik, Sarfaraz).

I said this here 6 months back.
I would play him ahead of these jokers, mental midgets whatever u want to call them and lets him develop as a batsman

Just to comment on the continued devaluation of Olivier on this board.

Firstly, Olivier has not played that much test yet, but he has had some decent performances against a few countries already, of course against Pakistan is his best so far. So does not mean that he will not perform better in future.

In the beginning of the series he himself stated that he has a specific job to do in the South African team, and that is to hit the deck hard. In domestic cricket he bowls quite a variety of balls, but he is very good at hitting the deck hard and extract steep bounce. The same as Morkel before him, Mcmillan many years back, etc.

South Africa have almost always had 1 bowler that were required to bowl a hard ball.

If you look at the 4 seamers in the current team, you have Rabada that is a fantastic seam bowler and getting better at swinging the ball, you have Steyn that is a fantastic swing bowler, of course he can do seam as well. then you have Olivier who is the hard ball bowler creating steep bounce, and Philander who is your medium fast bowler with very good accuracy and seam movement. So basically they have 4 different style seam bowlers working together. In that way not giving batsmen time to adjust to a style most of the time.

I has been working well for SA for many decades to have this kind of bowling setup. So just because some arm chair specialists on this board do not rate Olivier does not mean that he is doing exactly what the team wants him to do.

They knew before this series that Pakistan will struggle against steep bounce and he prepared accordingly as Gibson wanted him to bowl.

There is an age old cricket saying that seamers bowl in pairs, helping each other out to take the wickets.

I am very glad that the expert selectors on this board are not selectors for the SA team.

We saw his batting in the Asia Cup. Him at 5 in ODIs would make our batting lineup associate level, perhaps even worse.

Hafeez, Malik and even Sarfraz are hundred times better than him. He is a glorified tail-ender like Faheem and is good for 20-25 only.

Hardly a player who will ever get you a 70-80, let alone a 100.

Glorified tail ender seems better then most of our batsmens. He's got far better technique then kaptan.

Hasan Ali is better than any of Sadab or Faheem. He has muscle power.

He wasn't even able to rotate strike against a part timer Soumya Sarkar

But he did well in NZ and is showing some guts here too.
Hes clearly better than what u suggest

Truth is Pakistani batsmen have a T20 technique. No defence. All they want is hit out of their misery. In the first session, the goal must be to tire the bowlers. That's why a 20 of 80 bowls is very good for a test opner in such pitches so that batsmen later can cash on it.

Not really!!!! Faheem can only score between 20-30 while Sadab can only score 40+ with luck.

He stands tall instead of crouching, can play well on both front and back foot, strike rotation is good and most importantly he has got the right mindset. Can't say the same about Hafeez, Sarf and Malik.

Here's an interesting stat for all of you guys.

Pakistan has scored more aggregate runs in this series than India did in their three-match series earlier this year.

Goes to show how well India bowled and they had ABDV to contend with as well.
