although as if to celebrate this miserable defeat, if someone can find me an avatar sized picture of KP looking hopeless, I will gladly change it to that. one time offer that expires at midnight tonight!

Series aggregate of 344 at average 57, awesome

Well played SA for winning by an innings.

Like the Ashes, England won many of the crucial sessions in this series too, despite being outperformed mostly. Hence, England escape with a very creditable 1-1!

yeah 1-1 is alright, shame we subsided after Durban so badly, but if we can say in October that we have beaten Bangla home and away and Pakistan at home, it makes it a successful 18 months.

Exactly.

1-1 scoreline away to the second best Test side by the rankings (and best, IMHO) is nothing to be embarrassed about.

England should be happy with a 1-1 draw espcially after scrapping away with 2 draws by the skin of their teeth. Its been a postive 8-9 months of cricket for them after winning ashes.

England should really hang their heads in Shame. South Africa could have won this series 3-1 but its 1-1. Barring that second test, England never really seriously challenged South Africa.

2-1 win in ODIs and 1-1 draw in tests is not shameful against arguably the world's best team at home.

Nope. Be humble. You did not deserve to draw the series. It should have been 3-1.

No 1-1 is a fair result, sure England only survived by the skin of their teeth but test cricket is played over 5 days not 5.5 or 6, and SA were not good enough to defeat them over that period.

It is a strong South African team. They lack a quality spinner but have a strong batting line-up, good pace bowlers and are excellent in the field.

So England have done well to get a draw. Sure they had to hang on in 2 Tests, but as Muhammad says, the match is played over 5 days and "SA were not good enough to defeat them over that period."
