"Spin of the coin cannot decide who gets a very significant advantage"- Sanjay Manjrekar

In the last 2 years, only teams against whom totals were defended were - Hong Kong, Afghanistan, Scotland and Pakistan.

Just because Pakistan cannot chase it doesn't mean there's no advantage.

Also, I thought Pakistan could easily defend 175?

How come they conceded 170 bowling first ? Was this a good batting track too? :)

Embarrassing stuff. Atleast we can say we were unlucky but Pakistan were completely outplayed by Sri Lanka and don't think their 160 kph bowlers were able to save them enough :inti

At least india wont get to blame the toss for their two thrashings at the hands of pakistan.
Told you both teams would defend 170 against each other.

Now that your toss excuse has fallen flat on the ground, you are coming up with illogical arguments. :facepalm :inti

Buddy, our excuse atleast is consistent. Chasing is easier in Dubai and India only lost close games until the 2nd last ball in both when we were defending

Pakistan have been completely outplayed both defending and chasing. It wasn't even close on either occasion :wy

Yawn

There was none. Not today, not during this entire tournament. It's just the average fan logic clubbing this tournament with last wc with whatnot.

What do you mean how come they conceded 170?
Cant we?🤣🤣

Yes 152-0 was a close game lol.
India huffed and puffed to 147 vs pak.

Pakistan made a hash of all their chases. Babar's form made them look poor batting worse. This should have been an easy chase. Non-existing middle order of Pakistan almost cost their game against Afghanistan too. This was a winnable match against a rookie bowling side who have lost 19 out of their last 22 games while defending.

Exactly. A responsible member of this forum is asking you to not waste your time googling images on the internet just so you can make other idiot friends of yours laugh. :inti

Oh dear, this guy is really hurt today. Upset aunty needs some time alone to cry, guys please don't laugh at him :kp :inti

can't believe people want to ignore 15 matches won by bowling first team in dubai but they will shout on the top of their voice about the 2 matches (including today's) won by batting first team. They think they can show this match as an example but forget the fact that others can show the other 15 matches to counter them.
Toss doesn't guarantee a win but hands a significant advantage.
bored and out now.

There is clear statistical data to support the claim that chasing significantly improves odds of winning in UAE (and frankly the subcontinent). I don’t think it’s even up for debate. The question is what can be done to minimize the chasing advantage. Maybe have one less PP over for the chasing side? Or something else on those lines.

Look who is talking about getting hurt? The guy who ran away after Pant got out like his lungi was on fire. :91:

And why will I get hurt lol? I was proven right that toss wasn't a big factor in this tournament especially when there was no dew around. :inti

Not sure why so much discussion in this thread? Chasing is easy in Dubai as ball comes better onto the bat under lights. The sea breeze helps seamers during dusk and batting gets easier from around 15th over in 1st innings when lights are in full effect. It is exactly what we witnessed today. Pak players were getting swing early, SL were tattering at 58/5 and then suddenly balls were flying all around the park from 15th over.

So basically, teams batting 1st in Dubai gets 5 overs of easy batting whereas team chasing gets all 20. This is the unfair advantage that Sanjay Manjrekar is talking about

As far as today's game is concerned, it is more of a poor batting effort from Pakistan. They should have chased down 171 and probably more often than not would under these conditions. But the pressure of chasing in finals caught up to them like it did to KKR in IPL 2021 in the same venue. These games are an aberration but does not change the fact that toss/conditions play a huge factor in Dubai.

Next Asia cup is in Pakistan. I so hope they don't change the venue and shift it to UAE.

Sri Lanka will host it most probably. And even there you guys will find the toss excuse because there will most likely be dew in Sri Lanka. :inti

19 out of 21 games won by teams batting second in Dubai. When stats are that much stacked towards one side, it is far from being an excuse.

Though I dislike Srilanka as a venue and it is primarily due to rain, I would still prefer it over UAE as it would take the disbalance we see here due to toss. My preference will be Bangladesh...most balanced place in Asia to play cricket :shakib
