SL keep producing these good spinners that play well at the beginning then fade away, I think they've nearly got a good combination when it comes to the batting lineup but their bowling is absolutely toothless with Malinga on his last legs. They need a quality fast bowler and a quality spinner who they can rely on to attack, defend and snag wickets at will. Mathews needs to bat at 3 I'd say.

Actually, ODI cricket is inconsistent - most matches these days are one sided; because of distorting the balance of the game. They are trying to hatch daily multiple eggs from a hen by using steroid.

Modern ODI doesn't give much chance for teams to make a come back from a tight corner - once you are down, you are basically humiliated most cases. The contest has to be like, if there is a collapse/disaster at some point of the innings (by bat or ball), there has to be a way for plan B. This'll get even worse by every day - 80%+ matches, contest ends after may be 65 or even 35 overs. The English team is a perfect example of Modern ODI

ICC has to bring that balanced game where from 50/4, teams has a chance to post 245/9 & still can fight it out till last ball or team has a chance to pull 150/1 after 25 overs down to 273/8 & still has a shot at the chase.
