Sri Lanka (170/6) beat Pakistan (147 all out) by 23 runs to win the 2022 Asia Cup

Khushdil is out too.

Anyways, the best deserve to be crowned Champions. Pakistan are still league behinds top T20I world sides.

Unfortunately, the world cup will be even tougher.

Pakistani selectors are well capable of selecting Fakhar and Hassan for the T20I world cup.

Like all chases, Pakistan plays too slowly, making the chase way too difficult to pull off then try to hit shots when the game is already lost. The same problem for two decades!
 
Pakistan is thinking this is India and will bowl pies and will drop catches. This SL's fielding is brilliant and wont give an inch. Brilliant stuff
 
Pakistan Asia cup was bascially 1 win and 1 loss against India.
1 lucky win against Afghanistan and got humiliated twice by Sri Lanka. Did not deserve to play the final with this kind of performance.
 
Pakistan bowlers took Pakistan to the final. Their batting was poor with Babar hitting a rare rough patch in T20.

Turning out to be a one sided whooping in the end. No fight left after Rizwan and Iftikar.

I'll be honest, before this Asia cup, I didn't know anyone in the Team other than Hasaranga. I didn't even know who their captain was. Well, now I know all of their players, lol.

It was a poor innings from Rizwan. You can't deny that.

At last some redemption for this win toss, win match tournament. Glad to have been wrong about the toss today and to see the better team nullify the toss disadvantage and win convincingly. Pakistan have a lot of questions to answer before the World Cup but I doubt that this conservative lot has the imagination to even know what the questions are.
 
Why these hacks like Khushdil play when you have Naseem twice as good batsman and a fast bowler.

So many culprits but he takes the biscuit...giving his out of form mates, chance after chance, so many blunders in the final, not looking to improve, etc.
 
Clinical fielding display. I mean some of the catches are simple. But they catch with absolute authority.
 
This was on the cards.
Against India a dropped catch helped them get a close lucky win.
Faltered against Afghanistan and scrapped with miracle sixes by 11th batter.
And last game vs SL lost badly.

So this loss in final was on cards as it exposed loads of weakness as luck did not favour for last 2 games to hide the weakness
 
Hasaranga what an MVP. Delivered a cameo under pressure. And completely turned the tables with his bowling. Also a good fielder.
 
Really impressive work by the Sri Lankan coach Chris Silverwood who has turned around this team. What a coach!

There is no way we can fix this batting line up before the World Cup... Might as well give some youngsters a chance and hope we don't get humiliated....
 
Congratulations, Sri Lanka. They have overcome many odds.

They now have a pretty good T20 side for the upcoming World T20.
 
This innings proves why cashing in PP phase is vital. Pak scored 27 in the first 6 overs, excluding 10 extras.

Thing is, I'd care what you had to say if you weren't such a gutless coward who only comes out when it suits him. 99.99% of the time when you are constantly proven wrong you prefer to stay underground. So I suggest you return back to whatever hole you climbed out of and stay there.
 
Great recovery from SL in their innings. Rajapaksa took the game away from Pakistan.

Just think back to the SL v BD game. Lanka would been out, not beating both Ind n Pak in super 4, not messed the Ind v Pak final up, making it to the final and winning it in the end. Had only BD took their chances n not messed up…

Embarrassing stuff from Pakistan. Keeping wickets in hand and asking hitters to go extremely hard for 11-13 rpo was never something which could have been consistently replicated especially in high pressure games.

Spot on Savak. Desi coaches I repeat yet again are very reluctant to push our senior players out of their comfort zones.

Before this Asia Cup, I read on cricinfo that Babar's RR in the PP is 6.72. Forget his average or his pretty cover drives, that approach in high scoring matches will ALWAYS cost us. Yet our team management, not even in the dead rubber and with Babar struggling, considered changing the opening pair.

They give an endless rope to Fakhar, Iftikhar, Asif and Hasan because they are senior players while a youngster like Haider gets no rope at all, not even a dead rubber match.

Khushdil is persisted with since he performed against Hong Kong with all other failures ignored. I don't want to be too harsh on the middle-order though because time and again they're asked to go bang bang from ball one and receive all the criticism for inevitably failing.

Unsurprising when you have 90s era coaches like Saqlain and Yousuf.
 
Congratulations SL, surely best team of the tournament. Pak played poor cricket throughout the tournament except 2nd game vs India.

Babar is poor captain because of the following blunders:

-Not using Nawaz today
-Not sending Shadab against spin instead of Ifthikhar
-Not dropping Fakhar and Khushdil despite being poor against every team except HK
- Not playing at 1 down when u confidence is low

One of the worst performances by Pakistan. The scorecard really doesn’t tell how bad this performance was.

Saqlain must go before he does any more damage. This is unbelievably horrible.
 
This was a winnable match. Babar's form totally buried Pakistan. Rizwan was looking for someone else to maintain the asking rate. He got the wrong partner.
 
Pak middle order is weak. Wasnt convinced at all. Maybe should have pushed pinch hitter Nawaz at 4 again
 
Congratulations to Sri Lanka. Incredible achievement after so much internal turmoil and unrest.

They've been all-weather friends of Pakistan. Despite taking bullets in 2009 due to our security failures, they still were the first team to tour Pakistan for Tests.

Their attacking mentality rewarded them whereas Pakistan chose to stay in their comfort zones and thought the game was won at 58-5.
 
Cowardly chase. If bowlers aren’t giving you bad balls , you need to take the risks to put the good balls away instead of waiting for death overs. Average bowling from SL with too many extras but fielding saved the day. Who would have thought they’ll win from 56/5 ? Well deserved.
 
Feed the team with bits and pieces , this would be the end result,..

Sack the PPT selector Wasim.. for selecting Iftikar, Khusdil, Asif Ali etc...
