What's new

Sri Lanka beat Australia by 106 runs in the 1st Test

This is still the 60 all out Australia team - the only addition is Usman Khawaja who is technically suspect.

They are great on flat tracks though.....

There is a slight difference of venue though & for that, we might again revisit our posts before, during & after the Day/Night Adelaide Test.

If things doesn't change drastically, Misbah would require to put ODI field to protect T20 run rate in a Test match in Australia.

The wicket/condition that'll test Khawaja's technique against the hospitality of Wahab & Rahat, what do you think about PAK batsmen's technique against Josh, Strack, Patinson?

Boss, I like AK team; but I like cricket more than that. Last time Aamir averaged 40+ there & this time Yasir'll bowl with Kookaburra - how many times do you think PAK is going to take 10 wickets, let alone 20 with this attack & catching?

Sri Lanka v Australia | 1st Test | Pallekele | Jul 26-30, 2016 | Match Thread

I was at the Adelaide pink ball Test, which saw 37 wickets fall for less than 900 runs. The pitch had to be green to keep the ball in one pice, literally.

I've just uploaded a thread about how Kookaburra seem to have made the new pink ball as hopeless as their rubbish red ones. But if the Gabba Test conditions resemble Adelaide last year - to protect the pink ball - then Pakistan will bowl Australia out twice for less than 200 runs per innings.

One of the best quality of Warne was that, he knew exactly how much he is going to turn, almost every ball. This guy Sandakan needs to improve on that BIG time. Most of his balls are going to miss target - once batsmen has got that range, he'll struggle to get then out.

I am marking this post boss - I also would like to see how a side with club level Slip cordon & a Goal Keeper to keep wicket is going to take 20 wickets inside 400 runs, IN AUSTRALIA.

8 down, could have been 9. Another 20 minutes for light to hold on.

India has shown the way!!! Rank turners are way to on home test matches in subcontinent!!!

I thought the DRS LBW umpire's call ruling has changed to give the bowlers more room. Or is it still half the ball bs. I'm confused.

Slips and keepers are made, not born.

Mickey Arthur and Steve Rixon have quite a lot of time to get them up to scratch. It's not going to be a team of Misbah's geriatric mates in Australia.

Lol no matter what happens here, Australia will destroy any team that tours there for the forseeable future. No way Pakistan is even gonna win one match.

Wonderful resilience from Aussies. This mental toughness stands them out of any other team.

But the Aussies are batting well. They deserve to draw as well, if it rains after Tea. Besides, Anjelo is still afraid that last 2 wickets might add 108 .......

They are not getting a draw cos they were good enough to draw the test.

They are getting a draw cos they were good enough to manage it in a severely rain affected test with rain falling in the most inappropriate time for SL.

So...SL deserves to win.

That's OK, in a 450 overs match SRL deserves to win. But, AUS has no chance to win this Test, & Anjelo has put 4 men on line. What about 6 men cordoning the batsmen & encourage them to score against turning balls?

Weather conditions can't be helped. In 1999 rain and a freak accident involving Waugh and gillespie helped SL win their only test and series against Australia. Mathews is to blame for his lack of aggressive instinct and not going for the kill.

Could is gathering - I guess Aussies are going to steal it. O'Keefe is batting with damaged hamstring, which limits his forward defence. Mathews kept long on & off & silly point, mid-on open & now giving Aussies to walk away with a pacer. This guy has to be the worst Captain in contemporary world.

I said long time back, he is the worst test captain I have seen and people said...oh, he will improve, etc, etc.

lol.

Yes....not that SL isn't to be blamed. And its not that Aus shouldn't get credit for fighting so hard.

But deserving as in this test...SL is the one. Even the lamest of captaincy should have won this test if not for so much rain.

These two are batting really well. Don't have a good feeling about this. Similar thing happened against SA not too long ago.

Smashed that but not given. Rubbish. That's why you don't waste reviews Mathews. Well done.

Lankans very unlucky w
O'Keefe hit that poor decision from the umpire.

Mathews seems very unimpressive as Captain.

Some odd field positions given the circumstances as well

C'mon Aus!

That's what reviews are there for. Not there to just waste because you'll get a couple more in a few overs time. But hey the guy won't learn from it.

DRS should never be with players, as simple as that. It'll be with Umpire - if he is confused, he can discuss with TV Umpire & that ends there.

11th consecutive maiden, probably some sort of record.

He doesn't even learn from his mistakes that's the worst part :)) Zero match awareness. Amateur level captaincy. Hampered his batting as well.

How long till the haven opens?

Yeah you would think ICC would have gotten that by now. Teams don't use them for just howlers. And some are hopeless and review everything :))

kettkeborough has had a poor tests by his standards.

The field that Methews now have set, had he done it 2 hours back, by this time I would have been in dreams.

Looks like someone is an O'Keefe fan all of a sudden :))

Top knock from Nevill. Very impressive great find for Oz. A real scrapper.

Of all the possibilities ......

I think, now SRL can claim that extra 30 minutes before tea

If they had scored at 2 rpo, Mathews would have gone defensive long ago and brought the pacers on.
