What's new

Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by 35 runs in 2nd T20I at Lahore to seal series victory

This whole selection fiasco may be a ploy to bring Hafeez and Malik back. And looking at the regression we've seen already, the team is crying for them.

Misbah on the ball from Day 1. Need another jogging video of Kami and Junior doing circles.

Congratulations Sri Lanka. You did the basics right. We were too busy performing like clowns in a circus.

Return of Shehzad and Akmal did not work again.

Did not expect this result from Pakistan against a noob Lankan side.

Although this was pathetic, good to see some fight from imad- our future captain!

Well done misbah and sarfaraz definatley taking pakistan forward to permanant minnow status.

If Pak doesnt have better players than these jokers then for first the time i feel Pak cricket is dead

Pakistan reaping the rewards of an untimely change in the coaching team, that too so close to the T20 WC.

Now give this new team to settle down.

Congratulations to Sri Lanka, a well deserved win. As a Pakistani, I'm embarrassed by the pathetic performances of our team in the last two games.

Bhandara Rajapaksa, who made his debut in the first T20I against Pakistan, smashed 77 off just 48 to help Sri Lanka to a series win in Lahore.

VIEW MATCH CENTRE

His knock was studded with six sixes and four fours, and helped carry the tourists to a strong total of 182/6. Shehan Jayasuriya struck 34 to accompany him in a third-wicket stand worth 94, while Danushka Gunathilaka and Dasun Shanaka’s brisk cameos ensure the Sri Lankans started and finished strongly.

There was little joy to be had for the Pakistani bowlers, though Imad Wasim impressed in claiming 1/27 from his four overs. Often, Sri Lanka were as likely to get themselves out, losing three batsmen to run outs, including two excellent pieces of work from Shadab Khan, one a direct hit, and the other a gather and flick onto the stumps.

Pakistan struggled to get away at the start of the steep chase. One ball into the fourth over they’d lost more wickets than they had scored boundaries, listing at 11/2, and though Sarfaraz Ahmed and Ahmed Shehzad briefly threatened a recovery with a punchy four-over 40-run stand, Wanindu Hasaranga derailed the chase entirely with three wickets in an over.

Shehzad came down the track, missed and was bowled, Umar Akmal suffered a second golden duck in two innings on T20I return, pinned LBW first ball, while Sarfaraz’s attempted cut was ill-advised against a bowler intent on targeting the stumps.

Ahmed Shehzad played an inauspicious shotAhmed Shehzad played an inauspicious shot
From 52/5, Imad Wasim again gave Pakistan hopes of a comeback, notching eight fours in his 29-ball knock which ended on 47 when Isuru Udana had him leg-before. The end came in a hurry thereafter, the hosts losing 20/5 to finish all out for 147. Nuwan Pradeep finished with stellar figures of 4/25.

With one game to play, Sri Lanka’s 2-0 lead is unassailable, a remarkable turn-up considering the disparity between the sides’ MRF Tyres T20I Team Rankings. Pakistan’s experimental side hasn’t had the desired effect, while Sri Lanka’s second string have exceeded expectations, and will be hopeful of securing a clean sweep in the third T20I on Wednesday, 9 October.

I didn't know there was a game today.

Wow!

SL are killing it.

Congratulations to SL. Pakistan need some plans.

Terrible performance showing a lack of intent and passion. That we keep on playing Akmal shows the direction we are taking. No batsmen coming through with the WC next year. Misbah has had a very poor start here.

Bad team selection was haunted us again.... Need to get rid of Ahmed Shahzad & Umar Akmal

Long live the Tried and Tested Failures! A horror show from the team!

Gaddafi stadium to turn pink as PCB joins hand with Pink Ribbon

Lahore, 8 October 2019:

For the first time in history, Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium will turn pink as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) joins hands with Pink Ribbon to create awareness about breast cancer.

A ceremony will be held before the third T20I between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, which will be attended by Pakistan President Dr Arif Alvi and PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani.

The President will pin pink ribbons on both team captains, while players and match officials will don the ribbons over the course of the match.

The stumps for the last T2oI of the ongoing series will be branded in pink. All sponsors of the series will also be changing their branding colours in the ground to pink.

The PCB encourages fans to wear pink to the Wednesday’s fixture.

Pakistan has the highest burden of breast cancer amongst all Asian countries and this initiative is a part of #PINKtober, which is breast cancer awareness month.

As many as 12,000 ribbons will be distributed among the crowd and 750 pink coloured shirts will be handed out to the spectators in various stands.

One in nine women is at a high risk of developing breast cancer in her lifetime. However, if detected at an early stage, chances of survival increase over 90 per cent.

Just to add, it was jaw-dropping and sublime hitting by Rajapaksa the other day. Seriously impressed. I hope he´s the one for the future. Don´t want Sri Lankan cricket to die.
