Sri Lanka reach 36/1 at Stumps on Day 2 of the 1st Test after Pakistan's 218, lead by 40 runs

Spinners looking deadly, Jayasuriya in particular looks like he will strike any ball. Hoping for a wagging tail miracle to get us to 200.

SriLankan batting lineup is definitely better than Pakistan.

Actually, there are a lot of underrated players in that SL batting lineup.

Matthews is a world class test batsman so is Chandimal, Dimuth is a very good player too, also they are clutch.

Pathetic selection


Babar is such a clown captain, he played Sajid Khan at 7 in last test match against Aus. What kind of buffonery is this?
 
I hope Nawaz isn't a casualty from this test. He probably won't survive here but he deserves his opportunity 100% and should be a lock for a while.
 
Babar was supposedly poor vs spin but he is still looking on a different level to any other bat.

Saud, abid ali , Fawad, kamran are the guys who play spin well. None of them are here.

Where's Fawad? Hes usually good v spin and has good record in SL AFAIK

Game was gone day before test started once pathetic starting 11 was announced.

He takes major blame for team selection. 3 pacers was the biggest blunder here.

Yasir bowled like a part timer on this pitch.

Brilliant tactical brain what can you say. He is benched here where he is needed. Will now be back vs England and NZ where he isn't needed.
 
They are giving babar a single off every 1st ball and babar is falling into the trap every time.
 
Much easier to bat with older ball but Pak really didnt give themselves a chance

Too early to start farming the strike. You need to trust someone to make a partnership with you at some point.
 
Yasir wont last much longer after lunch. Babar doesnt have balls to take charge of the inns. needs to be removed as captain.
 
The last 2 SL wickets putting on nearly 100 in 1st inns will be difference here.
 
Pak were always going to get bamboozled by Lanka spinners. As predicted, this series will finish 2-0 to lanka
 
Well thankyou PCB for producing flat roads at home v Australia. Timid approach has costed Pakistan WTC final.
 
There goes the WTC final opportunity. This was their best chance with such a favorable schedule but they messed it up against Australia and now compounding the errors.
Why can't we produce spinners like this? What went wrong?

Nah. Only the top 2 teams play the WTC final.

And, sadly, Pakistan are not one of them.

Jayasuriya is showing us our rightful place in the table.

The intent showed by Babar onwards (Despite losing wickets) was needed from the very start when Srl bowlers were just getting into their line and length. Top 3 had to set the tone of the innings, I believe they were to reliant on just defending which on such pitches was always going to cause trouble

We shouldn't have trusted Yasir. He has bowled like a part timer.
Our best bet was sticking with Sajid/Nouman. On such a wicket, Sajid could work. Worked spectacularly in bdesh.
 
4 batsmen?

Even a batting line up including Sachin,Viv, Sobers miandad would atleast have 5 batsman but we go to a test match in foreign conditions with 4 specialist batsman .
Who makes these strategies what is the think tank thinking even a nobody like me can see the starting line of 4 batsman and 3 pacers for Galle is ridiculous yet they went this line up.

I am done with this side.

Pakistans top 3 just let every teams bowlers settle into rhythm, if batsmen arent scoring then even if opposition isnt taking wickets its not losing control of game as scoreboard isnt moving.
 
Game is still interestingly poised as long as Babar is out there. Sri Lankans lack that killer instinct to grab the game by it's neck so Pakistan will get multiple chances to come back even if they concede a handy lead.

Imam-Shafique is a nightmare pairing. Both play at the same pace, which is snail pace.

In subcontinent, we need Fakhar, Haider, Abid as one of the openers.

Even Azhar Ali does not deserve place in team , he is average player , considering current form Shan Masood should have been in team in place of Azhar Ali and Fawad Alam in place of Salman Agha but as I mentioned earlier Babar Azam is not fair captain , his team 11 is based on freindship , and note that unless leader is not fair he /she wont succeed and get respected with in team .

Stop blaming the openers haider fakhar are the biggest hacks i have seen..abid or anybodyelse would have done nothing. There is no batting talent in pak..even faddy wouldnt have lasted against jayasuriya
 
Abid and Fawad are pakistan's best spin players. Better than babar.

Not talking about just here, but in subcontinent you need to score quick. Shafique for eg. went at 30 sr even on those flat tracks.

As long he gets a soft 50 or a useless 100 if he is lucky, all is OK for him.

I mean you are u 7 down trailing by a huge margin and he exposes Yasir 2nd ball of overs.
Seriously pathetic.

Just stop playing TEST cricket and enjoy your T20. They cant play TEST cricket, its too hard.
