Hmm there's a lot of players there I don't know much about and have played very little cricket. Don't really want to lose to these guys but then again it's sad to see the state they're in. The Test series will be the most interesting one since we've got a new captain and Misbah and Younis ain't there.

Sri Lanka will play its first day-and-night Test match later this month when they meet Pakistan for a two-match series in the United Arab Emirates, the cricket board confirmed on Monday.

The Test series will start September on 28 and is due to end on October 10 with one of the games slated to be played as a day-and-night match.

Sri Lanka cricket announced a 25-member provisional squad led by Dinesh Chandimal for the Test series.

Sri Lanka will also play five one-day internationals and two Twenty20 matches in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah, a board official told AFP.

A third T20 match will be played in Lahore, Pakistan subject to security clearance, the official said.

“The exact itinerary will be released shortly,” the official said adding that one of the Tests to be played in the UAE would be Sri Lanka’s first with the pink ball used in day-and-night Tests.

Last month, Sri Lanka’s cricket board approved a tour to Pakistan, eight years after a deadly militant attack against the team brought top international games there to a standstill.

Sri Lanka is expected to play one of three T20 clashes at the Gaddafi stadium in Lahore.Sri Lanka is expected to play one of three T20 clashes at the Gaddafi stadium in Lahore.

Sri Lanka cricket had originally expected to play all three T20 internationals in Pakistan, including one in Lahore, scene of the 2009 attack which left eight people dead.

Leading cricket nations have shunned playing in Pakistan since the attack, in which gunmen ambushed the Sri Lankan team bus en route to the Lahore stadium, wounding at least seven players.

Since 2009, the only international team to visit Pakistan is Zimbabwe, who played five limited-overs games in Lahore in 2015. Pakistan play their “home” internationals in the United Arab Emirates.

But there were hopeful signs when Pakistan successfully staged the final of the Pakistan Super League — the rest of which was played in UAE — under heavy security in March.

Addressing the Asian cricket Council in Colombo last month, Sri Lanka cricket chief Thilanga Sumathipala called for an end to Pakistan’s isolation and urged countries to play there.

SRI LANKA SQUAD

Dinesh Chandimal (C), Dimuth Karunaratne, Kaushal Silva, Kusal Mendis, Angelo Mathews, Lahiru Thirimanne, Niroshan Dickwella, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Rangana Herath, Suranga Lakmal, Nuwan Pradeep, Lakshan Sandakan, Vishwa Fernando, Lahiru Kumara, Jeffrey Vandersay, Milinda Siriwardana, Roshen Silva, Akila Dananjaya, Charith Asalanka, Shaminda Eranga and Dhammika Prasad.

Pak should win the series rather easily. The Sri Lankan team at the moment is the poorest in many years. With Murli, Sanga and Jaya having all retired and Malinga past his best we have only complacency to fear.

Yes, but let's not forget Pakistan have three batting positions that are yet to be tied down.

SL got first time whitewashed in the tests and the ODIs at home in their entire history. It's probably their lowest point in history. Since, Pakistan is playing in UAE, it should be a similar kind of series. Pakistan should not lose an ODI or draw a tests against SL.

Never understood the point of a two match test series. Series should be of at least three matches as with two match series if a side wins first match than it cant lose the series and it can go all defensive for the second test while the other team cant win the series and can only draw the series.

Pakistan should play aggressive cricket which I am sure they are gonna play under Sarfaraz.

I do not understand why Pakistan does not play three test match series ? This is why Pakistan players not getting chance to be in records books.

Couldn't have asked for any better team to play after Misbah's captaincy. Perfect opportunity for Sarfaraz to settle the team when opposition is weak.

Schedule announced 19 days before the start of the series.

Embarrassing and pathetic, don't give me the excuse of the World XI series either. There was ample time to plan these events well in advance.

BCCI is even worse. They confirmed Aus ODI and T20 dates 10 days before schedule

Dubai doesn't have as many passionate cricket supporters anymore. It's like New York, a very fast and busy life.

Fast and busy life has nothing to do with passionate sport fans.

NY fans are actually known in the U.S. for being very passionate.

Of course it doesn't but it has a lot to do with attending games that last hours.

I feel, no one has noticed the venue of 3rd T20 - guys, be honest & be bold to admit :)

So much for Sethi's claim that two of the t20s would be played in Lahore.
