How long will we persist with Akmal? How many more catches will he drop before he gets the chop?

Pakistan 299

Sri Lanka 124/4 (32.1 ov)

Sri Lanka trail by 175 runs with 6 wickets remaining in the 1st innings

This looks like the partnership that could go on to get 100+ runs if we dont get them now!

Ajmal is bowling beautifully though, he knows caught behind is not an option so hes having to attack the stumps more.

Don't worry he'll get a streaky 50 in the 2nd inns to save his career once again.

However don't be so harsh he has only has one small technical flaw in his keeping which he needs to iron out...................er..............um..............he can't catch a cricket ball especially standing up.

Apart from that he looks fantastic behind the stumps.

I like this bowling attack. Sure we're becoming more like India this way, but until Asif is fit and selectable, these 4 seem to be the best bowlers we have.

And his voice lessons are really paying off. Because of his vocal encouragement the bowlers can create more chances for him to waste.

The "schoolboy" strikes! Luckily it was a thick edge so it headed in the direction of the safe hands of Misbah rather than the iron gloves of Akmal.

Good on yer Dani boy.2 Tests too late to pick him though.

I would still prefer Afridi to Kaneria.

44.5

Danish Kaneria to Mathews, OUT, gone! Was testing his patience there, Mathews is sucked into prodding that one, much fuller than the previous one, gets forward to defend, it spins away to take the outside edge and Misbah cups it comfortably at slip

AD Mathews c Misbah-ul-Haq b Danish Kaneria 31 (53b 4x4 0x6) SR: 58.49

Not a proven test player, but I would give him a go because if he can bowl and bat well, it will reduce the length of our tail which is probably the worst in the world at the moment.

Sri Lanka 157/5 (45.3 ov)

Sri Lanka trail by 142 runs with 5 wickets remaining in the 1st innings

Kaneria is giving a 4 ball every over. Matthews was having problems handling him, but mahela isnt

what planet do u live on, afridi averages almost 40 with the bat and his bowling average is similar to kanerias

Does anyone know where is that stupid music band? Do they only play when opposition is batting to disturb them?

Lol.

That **** should be illegal, forreal.

Tea.

Sri Lanka 164/5 (48.0 ov)

Sri Lanka trail by 135 runs with 5 wickets remaining in the 1st innings

Its coming down to the 2nd inning batting performance - if we can set a decent target then SL will struggle.

SP, im guessing that YK read the pitch correctly. THe ball is turning and bouncing. Of course, our batters cant play the new ball

If wishes were wings, where would we find you MIG.

The average for 4th innings on this ground is 215- if I'm not mistaken.

Quicker and straighter one from Kaneria did the trick, Vaas gone LBW to Kaneria

Dilshan does come in to bat, let's hope we can get rid of him quickly otherwise he can score quick runs.

The fact that this Lankan batting (or even bowling to some extent) lineup is pretty average makes the 2-0 result even worse. If it wasn't for our HUGE batting collapses, we could have easily won this series 3-0.

While i type, Kaneria gets Jayawardene

COME ON!!!!

Well done Dani boy! Will say it again it's a pity that the "brains trust" didn't pick him for the first two games.

Promising Star

I think Younis has missed a trick in the previous 2 tests, he should have played Kaneria and Ajmal there along with pace options of Aamir, Umar Gul and Himself( the Swing Bowler).

That was an excellent delivery. Top spinner beat him for pace and he was on the backfoot. Reminded me off Shane Warne bowling Ijaz Ahmed in the 1999 World Cup final.

Anyway, it is helping Danish that he has a good ally in Ajmal!

its not the bowling that killed us

He just had a tea break.
Well obviously, you don't usually bowl 38 overs in a session. Doesn't change the fact that he's been bowling unchanged for almost 3 hours on the field.
