Sri Lanka vs Pakistan | 1st test - Day 2 | Galle | 5/7/09

Atleast SL will have to bat tonight. Aamir & Gul should steam in. They got 3 overs to face probably.

Koi bat nahi. well played amir. this guy can be coached for being a wonderfull alrounder we need. I like what i saw.

SL it seems will face an over or two...if we can nip one of them out in that time somehow it would be our day for sure.

That indecision explains why it didn't work. :inzi

Let's hope he gets a hat trick in the one over available today (ala Irfan Pathan).

they take 2 overs off for change over..

1 or 2 overs i reckon!

Let's hope. I don't know if the game is gonna continue if SL loses one wkt today. I do not know the rules.

Why only 1 over? 5 overs are left for the day, and 2 are taken for change of innings. So should there not be 3 overs left for the day?

It will. Six balls will have to be bowled even if SL lose five wickets in the first five deliveries. :aamir

They start with nightwatchmen openers.

Well that depends on the mode he intends to employ.

So then 634 runs and 20 wickets in 2 days. Id say thats a pretty good advertisement for test match cricket!

Finally, the quality of fast bowler is born and must watch. First over was absolute the great start. Hope to see Pakistan bowlers dominate restrict Sri Lanka in less than 200.

haaah!!

maybe he's pakistani pretending to be an indian :13:

Again, a brilliant day of test match cricket

The day belonged to MoYo and Pakistan, with Misbah, Malik, Akmal and of course Rauf chipping in considerably. The two runouts cost us but a lead of 50 is pretty decent.

SL did well to restrain us from getting a bigger lead, but I think this is gonna be a great match now

we have to bowl them out for 200 or less it would be hard to chase anything over 150 unless the pitch really evens out.

what the Fcuk man...........????, we were 5 down when we had the lead for the first time, with yusuf, malik, on pitch and akmal to spare and couple of bowlers ahead too, then we made only 50 runs lead, with three days remaining!!!, what the sh*t man. where was the strategy and planning. two inform batsman run out!!!. this really pisses me off when we get a hold of the match and then we become kids. for two times we had the chance to make a strong grip in the match but NO NO NO, we take it easy, sh*t man sh*t. yusuf and malik or maube akmal could have pushed the innings to the third day. totally crap typical pakistani thinking, insensible and bad planning.

Credit to SL for the two runouts; they both were brilliant.

It belonged to Pakistan till Misbah got out. As we stand, it was an even day.

If anything, SL have their noses in front.

Its only a day 3 pitch tomorrow, so i wouldn't think the pitch would be a mine-field just yet.

Hopefully we'll bowl well tomorrow, get a couple of wickets before they get to 50 and make the job as easy as possible for our batsmen.

First session tomorrow will be very crucial. We need early breakthroughs!

Unless we get them out at a score that we can chase, I feel SL are ahead. Average 4th innings score at Galle is 156.

This match has all signs of a tight finish. the 50 run lead neutralized the disadvantage of batting 2nd in my opinion. God willing, Pakistan will come thru however.

Exactly. Add 50 to 150 and that is pretty much our limit.

No way should they be allowed to score over 199.

How the run out of myo changed the game. Pakistanis were ahead, even when Kamran Akmal was there. Two stupid run outs.

That is the beauty of pakistan cricket yaaaaar. Enjoy :P

Are we saying the decision to field was not correct? :)

I hope/pray, I am wrong but I think we should have batted after winning the toss... but then again I am not YK and did not see the wicket as close as YK did. :)
Dropped catches also did not help either.

Aamis and Ajmal will need to bowl their heart out because we have 3 days left and SL will be in not hurry to score runs and take chances.

Mohammad Yousuf has really surprised me after the very long exhausting year of comeback with the fine style. That is good to know

I suppose nothing is wrong with pushing Malik as opener either in place of Khurram or Salman Butt to allow Fawad Alam accommodated in Malik position. I hope to see that selection in second test.

How was the rest of Pakistan batsmen effort barring Mohammad Yousuf?

We should've batted first .It was a really odd decision, but hopefully it'll pay off

haha true, to be honest, I was really enjoying Akmal play. He is so damn attractive to watch. Truly pakistani, doesnt stop attacking

I wish, we could say the same about his keeping.

honestly said I'd still consider test cricket as extrenely boring

Its because of our crap openers we did not put Razzaq and Alam in the team. Its because of our openers we had a lengthy tail and you cannot afford to expose the tail to the new ball especially when its swinging like a boomerrang.

If we had gone in with this team

1) Akmal
2) Malik
3) YK
4) Yousaf
5) Misbah
6) Alam
7) Razzaq
8) Rauf
9) Gul
10) Aamir
11) Ajmal

Even if we lost the Akmal, Malik early we would have been batting all the way down to 8 and the extra advantage of having more bowling options up our sleeves.

Good - hope SL dont take chances ie play in their shells.

This is no doubt turning out to be an exciting test match. ....no matter how much action there is in 20/20....im sure most, if not all will enjoy this more than a close 20/20 match.

THIS IS THE REAL THING.........separates THE MEN FROM THE BOYS

1st test day2

Guys, i am a Sri Lankan a new comer for ur thread, don't worry Pakistan will win this test match and the series. Sri Lankans haven't won a single test against Pakistan since 1986 in Sri lanka could you believe it.

Afridi - a Sri Lankan. Since when?

jasuriya not that great. afridi has become a good all rounder. excellent with both bat and bowl

No, I was not comparing Jayasuria with Afridi. All I was saying that why a Sri Lankan be a Afridi fan ahead Jayasuria, Murali, Mendis, Vaas, etc and have user-name "Afridi".

It like me having Sachin a user-name when I have my own Miandad, Inzi, Yousaf, Younis and Zaheer. I would gladly take "faisal Iqbal", "Sami", or even "Buttaaaah" as user-name before I even think about using "Teenda" as user-name.

may be he isnt that extreme who just loves their own cricketer but hate others, but he might have the name because he treats cricket as overall sport and looks at overall scanario

oh really? then I guess it was the brilliance of the bowlers behind the dismissal of Yousuf, Misbah and Akmal?

the reality is that we shot ourselves in the foot, we should had a 100 run lead at the very least...let's just hope we can make some breakthroughs in the morning session

Do someone remember that I predicted this score at the end of day 1?

I was taking SL score as 393, not 293... 250 is possible in 60 overs... But I don't think that 250 will satisfy such a large batting order... 350+ is confirmed!

Btw, a nice day.. Yousuf's Cool 114 was the highlight of the innings! Misbah played well too.. This match showed the quality of Yousuf and Misbah as compared to Younis Khan!

so when YK smashed 300 against the same attack, that showed the quality of YK as compared to Misbah?

are you honestly suggesting that Misbah's 50 was a better knock than YK's 300?

mr abc-xyz you talk some utter nonsense Y khan a FTB?go and check your facts YK has fantastic records in Eng NZ was our best batsman in our last tour down under and SA this man has at least one double hundred if not two for yorkshire.
He struggled today but every batsman has an off day.he has been our best batsman for last 4 years.
And remember this he is NO 1 test batsman in the world.
You are the same guy who did not want him in T20 WC but he was our best batsman here and won the damn thing so if I was you I would shut up.

yes! except that he stayed on the pitch, there was nothing special in his marathon-knock!
