What's new

Sri Lanka win by 8 Wickets in 3rd ODI against New Zealand

The real test is if Sri Lanka somehow manage to lose from here.

They shouldn't but who knows.

I did not realize, till I saw your picture that Williamson is no 1 now!!! - Congrats, he has being in superb form, an excellent batsmen, mentally very sensible and calm, one of the best batsman of this generation... I can only wish to have somebody like him in our team.

If thirimana were a pakistani cricketer, he'd be made captain so that even by mistake, a team doesnt get selected where all xi are on merit

The way the balance between bat & ball is destroyed in cricket that, we hardly see any nail-biters these days. It's almost always becoming a one sided slog feast. Bat first, start slogging, if you have a good day, put 350+, chasing side are out of the game within 10 overs of chase most days. A bad day - post ~250 or lower, chasing side'll walk past the target.

Watching these games, I actually find a logic why PAK or WI are in 8th & 9th in ODI - these days, the trick is in chasing. Most of the teams actually struggles to chase, may be apart from Australia, therefore whichever side chases better (Actually, I should put other way - whichever side DOESN'T BOLTS REASONABLE CHASES) should acquire more ranking points. Keeping everything same, chasing 276 on this ground/wicket, there is a good chance that PAK top 3 pilling up the asking to 7/over & then get out to a half cooked score like 35 or 38, exactly when you don't want your top 3 to get out - leaving the middle order chasing 170 at 7, with 2 new batsmen on wicket & 7 wickets at hand. Most likely, PAK would have lost this game by less than 15 runs.

The prime reason for that is, PAK plays at 1, 2 & 3, players that are shaky starters - they can only make their contribution count, if they put 75+ scores, which is probably an odd of 1:7 even for Tendulkar or Lara - that means, almost 80% times, PAK top 3 are taking the team into a hopeless situation while chasing. May be one of Azhar or Babar or Ahmad can stay in top 3 (my choice is Babar), but it's a must that other 2 are bringing the asking down, players like Umar, Sarjeel or Nauman - either get going or get out leaving enough balls for middle order to settle & chase.

Least said about WI is better.

Awkward moment when you find out that Tharanga has more ODI century than the likes of M.Clarke, Inzimam and Dravid....very awkward...

That moment when you figure that Shehzad has more ODI centuries than Misbah but that doesn't mean sh*t

good to win one after a while but i'd trade the win for thiri to be dropped for good

I hope Pakistan watched this game very closely, this is how you chase in a foreign land, studying this game will help us wonders next month while not only chasing but also batting first.

Probably will lose it in the next update but still a great achievement nonetheless.

Did Sri Lanka just score a comprehensive win against NZ?

...but I thought they were the next West Indies!

Its the dudes averaging 30s in FC that are performing while the guys in 40s aren't looking too good.
