He constructs innings, he finishes innings, he plays clutch knocks.

From Jan 2014, Mushfiqur Rahim has become REALLY REALLY good.

Take a look at this:

Top ODI Batsmen From Jan 2014

Note: Yes....Rahim has a lower sample set but THAT'S COS Bangladesh doesn't get to play many games. Break up his stats and its still very very good.

What a gem he is turning out to be.

I dunno whether he can sustain this form but in the last 2 years, he has been a True Modern Day batsman (and finisher when needed) and played one of the biggest roles in Bangladesh's biggest ODI win in its history (against England to reach its first WC QF).

I mentioned in the commentary thread...the last time he scored a duck in ODIs was in 2011! Amazing.

Looking at the Bangladeshi batsmen these days, I think they are going to become really really good in batting in the next decade.

They are finally producing modern day batsmen who can play ODI cricket of this era.

Future looks bright for Bangladesh. If only they could improve their bowling (looks like they India's genes when it comes to cricket ;-)).

Mushfiqur could very well get IPL contracts by the next year if he continues like this.

WK, attacking batsman, clutch player.

What more do you need.

Mahmudullah scored two centuries in he world cup but that was because he got to bat at #4 and Mushy didnt. Mushy should be our permanent #4. Best batsman in the team.

Notice that he only has one NO to his name. Very unselfish player. His average could have been much higher.

We might just develop some pacers in the future. Rubel has become a BIG celebrity here. His memes were all over Facebook during world cup and his popularity sky rocketed. Its lovely to watch children taking a long run up and trying to bowl fast because thats what Rubel does!

Shakib Al Hasan is one my favourite players in world cricket. Mushfiqur must be added to the list.

Whenever these 2 bat, I always root for them (except when they are playing against India or CSK). ;-)

Yes...Rubel is a real star. Has bulked up and those 2 yorkers against England sealed the deal.

He could inspire many to take up fast bowling.

Bangladesh after being garbage and hopeless for so long has now started to make some real giant strides in LOI cricket.

IPL teams would rather buy some domestic Australian or South African player playing 2nd XI cricket than an international player from Bangladesh.

Size does matter, but not in batting. Mushy is chhota bheem! :nehra

Not really.

Shakib was bought and he is a regular fixture in playing XI for KKR.

If you are good enough, franchises will buy you. They don't care about your international ability...they only care whether you are good for IPL (which is why Dwayne Smith is a regular for us).

Rahim has proved his credentials and will be bought in IPL next year.

Same like Darren Sammy who wasn't earlier picked but now is not only picked but a regular playing XI member.

Kohli 10 fifty+ scores in 32 innings.

Mushfiqur 11 fifty+ scores in 24 innings with higher strike rate.

Best Asian batsman now that Sanga has retired. Nuff said.

And Rahim unlike many HAS capability to play well in international cricket.

And he is brutal against spin so no issues there too.

Not sure if serious.

Yes, seems to play well whenever I've watched him. An explosive, little batsman.

The power he can generate despite his diminutive stature always amazes and inspires me.

Lol . See SIF what u created :P

Is IPL that much important to you ? Just wondering.

I like IPL.

A lot.

Its a great tourney. :)

If only they could make more foreigners (read bowlers) play and not have a new auction every 3 years, things would be even more fun.

People here in Tamil Nadu take CSK games very very seriously.

Did anyone by the way notice ABD?

Averages 80 with 127 SR.

If he goes like this, he is all set to be a GOAT in ODIs.

tamil nadu is a hell hole mate. how can u take any wins by that team seriously when other teams are forced to change the team structure due to the racist nature of ppl in chennai?

remember that test match 50 in england when he was 16? always was a talent

Always had the talent but the guts in belief in his abilities probably came when he was made captain. He regularly made good knocks at good SR after being made captain. Similar to what Azhar did today.

A very good batsman for BD. Great thing for BD is that they have most players in early to mid 20s including this fellow. If they apply well then team can get better from here on.

Mushfiq is the only world class batsman in Bangladesh. He has been superb in all forms

Mushfiq is best BD batsman atm. I rate him above Shakib, Mahmudullah and Tamim.
He is the one who doesn't give it away when finishing line is near, completes the job for the team.

Humble guy with lovely character.

According to some BD fans, Shakib Al Slogger is better apparently. :))

Top 3 in Asia and Top 10 in the world atm definitely.

Mushfiqur worked really hard and is a very accomplished batsman, will be able to succeed anywhere in the world.

But the thing about Shakib is that he is able to score so many runs on average despite the workload of a specialist bowler. And I don't see Shakib slogging until its time to go. Yes he is not a clean hitter of the ball because of an average technique but you cannot classify our most performing batsman as "Slogger".

people's are good.. but political parties try to cash on it.. that's all..

Ha ha ha. I liked the last line. We don't mind if Indian gene can produce world class batsmen like India

Mushfiqur is playing as no 4 now. I also wish he continues at that position

All of this batting in the MIDDLE ORDER which makes his stats even more amazing.

Wow wow wow :stokes

He maybe very good batsman but immature at core. He never understand situation, that's why he is still underrated. Bacha.

He gets very little support from his team. For instance, all the hard work done by him today seems to have been wasted by the batsmen who followed.
