I am first to admit that spot/match fixing is universal phenomenon in cricket. But in most countries it is considered a big deal.
Strange thing about pakistan is that before any such thing comes up everyone is claimig every match is fixed. Basit Ali believes India wins only because of clout of IPL. Sarfaraz Nawaz claims fixing in every pakistani loss etc.
But the moment something comes up against the cricketers every one seems to give them cover.Fault is with PCB,Sethi,Nawaz sharif or anyone but the cricketers. It is amazing how easily they demean their own institutions especially when it is first credible and applaudable thing whch PCB has done ever with regards to fixing. It is sad that many pakistani fans would rather have Mohd. Amir or Sharjeel in team for few extra runs/wickets instead of cleaning up system which will produce many Amirs and sharjeels in future.
When match fixing sags hit india it effected two of our best cricketers. Azhar was our captain and Ajay Jadeja was most loved cricketer in the country after SRT at that time. Even when Indian officials dealt with situation effectively many Indians lost faith in cricket forever. My uncle who cultivated my intrest in cricket since my childhood has never watched a match since 1999(even not seen 2011 WC).Even when these cricketers were let off the hook by indian courts on legal procedural grounds they were never accuitted in public opinion. No one talks about sreesanth now.Whey even banned our cash cow CSK to prove we are not light on this issue. These harsh steps I believe will put fear of god in our future cricketers to think about the consequneces of such actions.
On the other hand Pakistan has set legal precedent of accepting a bowler back in Pakistan team which I sure will be used by many tainted cricketers in future.
In the end I would just like to state that what PCB has done with regards to PSL spot fixing scandal is commndable. Dont criticize someone for criticism's sake.

As you say, it's a universal problem.

In reality, Pakistan is one of the few countries to charge and suspend offenders.

I'd be kicked off PakPassion if I put in writing the players from other countries whom I consider to be demonstrable fixers.

Match fixing is different from spot fixing, hence it would be insanity to treat them equally.

If you try to hang a pickpocket then do not blame if people feel for such guy.

I am astounded by your statement. You mean to justify spotfixing. One may not hang pickpocket but you consider them criminal and with disdain & dont start justifying them even before sentencing. Even match fixers dont kill any one so difference between match fixing and spot fixing is lot less than pick pocket and death row convict.

I believe this is first time PCB has shown spine to ban current cricketers.Earlier they banned old /semi retired cricketers while giving slap on the wrist to their stars who were involved.
