Shan in presser today:

Q: About rumours of match fixing due to Pakistan's poor performance in ICC T20 World Cup 2024:

Shan Masood : "I'll never question a player's intentions. I don't think there's anyone in the current Pakistan cricket setup who would even hint at match-fixing. I won't agree with that. Secondly, you can't mix different formats. The ICC T20 World Cup 2024 is over, and now we need to focus on Test cricket. We played good cricket in the last series but couldn't win, and eventually, winning matters. Now we have a great opportunity to play our brand of cricket, which will help Pakistan win games."

Disgraceful question. But we’re always going to have the tag of fixing with our lenient attitudes towards fixing and of course continuous cases of fixing.

Ridiculous question from the journalist. Full credit to shan masood though- he actually handled it very respectfully. If this was kohli or msdhoni- they would make sure this guy's career is finished

Totally disgraceful question sure but not fair to tag babar azam and co with the fixing tag. And that actually is to babar azams credit - he has made sure there is no fixing and gave pak cricket team a clean image. People dislike babars captaincy but you absolutely have to credit him to making it into a completely clean team. Even misbahs team didnt have such a clean image as babars team. And babar actually rekindled interest in pak team atleast in ind. Different issue that he got arrogant and high with power - for which he has rightly been downsized.
And this was as good a response from shan masood- concise, not getting angry or yelling.

The journo sounds too dumb with the way he asked the question. What he should have asked was:

“Can the players not understand that there is more glory, pride and money when you play for your country like Miandad and Arshad Nadeem did? Unlike the way they are currently playing for themselves, their sponsors, their agencies and trying to clinch as much money as they can through their greed.”

What can you expect from our journalists? Most of the time, they seem lost when asking questions on live media.

Here I'll give credit to Shan Masood for answering maturely.

He snubbed the reporter rightly because sometimes these reporters level allegations baselessly. Shan answered as a captain should have answered.

Masood handled the question well. I think every captain since Butt has generally been against fixing, which makes sense. I hate the continuous accusations Pakistan fix when we lose. And often it’s Pakistanis themselves who do this. It’s an easy out for a loss.

The players aren’t at fault for these questions at all. Our leniency for fixing has nothing to do with these players. Nor even the player who has already fixed, it’s not his fault he is repicked. Our leniency comes from the PCB and sadly the fan base. I’m pretty confident that if all the domestic and internationals players had to vote on letting back fixers, the majority would vote against. Can’t imagine how insulting it must feel to players to play with fixers who were willing to sacrifice the same dream as a cricketer they’ve worked so hard for for a bit of money. You could see how Azhar and Hafeez didn’t like it with their protest against Amir coming back. I’m sure there are many others, but they don’t want their careers disadvantaged, go against the fans, or impede Pakistan winning.

Such allegations are demeaning and as PCB players have forsaken such activities so such questions accord such responses
