Miles better than any Pakistani bowler today. Let's see if Amir can match his longevity.

Broad always had these destructive bowling spells in his locker but they use to be once every 12-18 month efforts and inbetween he would be pretty mediocre. However now hes just become mr consistant and have to say am starting to enjoy watching him bowl and never thought id say that!

Worst to 400?

There were a couple of months where he was the worlds best, but it wasn't long.

Most who have gotten there are undisputed greats of the game.

Bowled Broady. A testament to fitness and hard work for a long time.

Congratulations Stuart Broad for 400 Test wickets

By dismissing Tom Latham, Stuart Broad becomes only the second Englishman after James Anderson to take 400 test wickets.
I think he is better allround bowler than Anderson and has ability to take wickets at crucial times.
His bowling stats may be not be legendary but having an average of 29 with strike rate under 60 is great achievement in the pro-batting era.
He is only 31 but has played 115 tests and will surely surpass 500 wickets mark.
Good Luck Stuart Broad.

Congrats to him. He has been inconsistent but when he's on his game he's unstoppable and can run through a side. A fan is his. Think he will get too 500.

Mediocre bowler, don’t know what’s so special about him. Obviously if you play 115 odd Test matches you should get there.

Very good bowler. Never thought he will still be playing during the 2007 T20 WC. Good on him and a much improved bowler in world cricket.

:bhajji wins that one imo.

Asian teams spinner taking that much of wickets is not a great achievement.

For fast bowlers, 400 wickets is still an achievement.

Hence, we should count fast bowlers exclusively and then I think Broad might be the worst.

By your logic, non Asian fast bowlers taking over 400 wkts is not a great achievement

There is a difference between the two. Murali has got 800 test wickets. Warne has got 700. Kumble has got 600. The highest a fast bowler has got is a little over 500 I think. Historically, spinners also have more fifers than fast bowlers.

Moreover, spinners can maintain longevity for a good duration but fast bowlers cant. Fast bowlers require more stamina and dedication than spinners.

400 wicket is a great achievement for fast bowlers not for spinners though IMO.

300 for fast bowlers= 400 for spinners.

Terrific achievement for a bowler who has been good, at times very good but never quite touched greatness. Yet this is an achievement all basedo n longevity, fitness and dedication, one of the finest bowlers of the 21st century.

You are right. Taking 400 wickets is a big achievement for any fast bowler.

Great achievement but has drifted along too much since his Joburg performance. Was very poor in the Ashes and still lucky to be in the team.

BBC was saying he was the best England bowler in this match.

Agree, he reached his career peak in that match and attained the number one ranking, but it’s been all downhill from there. It’s like he got to the top and then immediately moved into cruise control. For me this is why Anderson will always be the far better bowler - he has been in or around the very top for approaching a decade now - he has a lot more hunger and a much better work ethic than Broad.

Well bowled Stuart, but as usual he suddenly leaps up to world beater territory when there are growing mumblings within the media for him to be dropped - and after the pressure is off he will go back into half-asleep mode again.

Broad is an England great as well. It is not as easy to maintain consistency in such a long career for a fast bowler.

Great bowler.
His performances may not be upto atg standards but he bowls destructive match winning spells quite frequently just like harbhajan or mitchell johnson.

Superb bowler.

Broad-Anderson will go down as the best fast bowling duo in England history. At least in top 3 for sure.

Broad has always been England's go-to man when they are up against Australia and he proves here as well.

An excellent bowler who is better than Anderson with Kookabura but not as effective as latter with the Duke ball.
