What possible improvements do you guys think the PCB can make for the 4th edition of the PSL? I'd definitely like it if cricketgateway was not the only source for legal live streaming as it's a pathetic service.:shhh

Remove Rambo raja as a commentator.

Play more games in Pakistan(which will happen).

make the pitches in the first leg of the UAE games more like they were in the second round of games.

Only sign players who are 100% going to play in Pakistan.

Improve graphics.

Have a change of rules for emerging players to give them maximum exposure

Improve pitches so spectators enjoy more sixes and fours

Sign better players like buttler, finch, starc and maxwell

1. None of this cringey "ooo" from the guy on the mic as we heard in the final 100 times.
2. Get rid of that head and shoulders move which is just as cringey
3. Remove Ramiz Raja from commentary
4. Limit how many over 30 players play in each team
5. Bring more games to Pakistan
6. More batting friendly surfaces - for entertainment purposes and to allow batsmen to exhibit their hitting ability, will also allow management to differentiate the better bowlers as well.
6. Better graphics

Do what the IPL did and have an official channel on YouTube for live games. Stream there for free rather than cricket gateway subscription.

HD TV broadcast
2 emerging players - 1 batsman, 1 bowler/all rounder
More matches in Pakistan
Reduce average team age
All foreign players must go to Pak

Signings outside draft like bpl to get likes of buttler, maxwell, stokes etc in psl.

1. Make sure you get Slater and Fleming back, hopefully, Bishop is available.

2. Make it so that while you can have 4 foreign players in an 11, you are only obligated to pick 3. We have to be realistic about the quality of interntional players we can get.

3. It won't happen, but another team should be added

1. Ramiz Raja should not do the post match presentations. I can bear him during commentary but not the presentations.
2. A clause for atleast 1 local player to be played in all/half of the matches.
3. Adjust the dates of the tournament when the international schedule isn't packed like it was this year and also allow players not in the drafts to play as replacements.
4. Some how improve the spectator stands of Gadaffi Stadium in time. The thick white railing hides the crowd.

1. Remove Ramiz Raja all together from PSL. Replace him with someone from Pakistan who is also more lively.

2. Change foreign players quota to minimum 3 foreign players and maximum 5 foreign players.

3. Dont include any foreign player in the draft if he is not willing to travel to Pakistan.

4. DRS and speed guns should be available for all matches in Pakistan.

DRS was available for the games here.

And speedguns need to show speed for every delivery bowled, not only one odd ball for the over.

#RemoveRamiz(pathetic)Raja
Two emerging players, free online streaming, highlights to be available on YouTube within an hour after match finsihes (still bo highlights for final), Better umpires(Rashid Riaz was brilliant this season though), no soft signal (it can be started from psl), Increase prize amount for Crowd Catches(that will be an imp factor for crowds in UAE).

Stream live on Youtube.

The play offs should be 2 semi finals (1st plays 4th and 2nd plays 3rd), with the winners going to the final.

All UAE games played at Sharjah, much better atmosphere!

All foreign players play in Pakistan.

1. Proper system in place for selecting players willing to tour Pakistan.
2. Make arrangements for review system to be used in semi finals.
3. Reserve days for Semi finals and final.

I must say Ramiz Raza's post match presentation after the final was pathetic. No energy at all and he doesn't have the vocabulary, charisma , voice and a presenter mindset. The presentation was so boring. It didn't look well planned at all.

He didn't know who to invite and was taking so many breaks in between .. a perfect momentum killer.

The immediate and primary focus should be on negotiating and securing a new broadcast deal. Not just TV but also the digital platform. The PCB/PSL should not be shy in taking a page out of the IPL playbook. Just study what the IPL did and follow it.

They have to monetize every avenue available. Especially, since they are planning on staging more matches in Pakistan, will have to cover large security costs.

A good broadcast deal will arm the PCB to make whatever improvements that need to be made.

Get rid of all the rubbish players such as saad, shehzad, water, misbah, ifti etc.
Max 3 foreigners in playing 11.
No timeout, head & shoulders nonsense, no ramiz, 2 emerging players bowler and a batsmen and they should be u21.
Don't make a mockery of the emerging players category by putting players like saad, saud etc in their.
Bounderies to be bigger then Kowloon (hong kong sixes)

Get rid of time-outs, improve the graphics, make it HD on the TV and give a better live streaming platform, improve the draft system (these categories are stupid, UA being a platinum player for example), don't allow foreign players in who aren't willing to play in Pakistan and make sure there are more commentators available. Will go insane constantly listening to Danny and Rambo.

Maybe have an auction for the platinum players....if the franchises can afford it.

Not many tbh, I just dislike how long the first stage is. Six teams with two games each is too much when those same teams then play each other ad naeuseum in the play offs. To keep a bit of variety, have them split into two groups. They can keep the two match formula, but by having top 2 from each going through to a semi and then the finals, you are assured at least 2 match ups you haven't already seen before twice.

1. All matches in Pakistan
2. include 8 teams
3. 8 local players including one emerging player compulsory and 3 foreign players.
4. Batting friendly pitches.
5. reduce ticket prices.

Speed guns must be available

Improve transportation options for Pakistani people in Dubai and Sharjah in order to make it easy for them to come to the grounds

Reduce the amount of games in the UAE and increase the amount of games in Pakistan. Strategize it in such a way that Thursday, Friday and Saturday are games in Dubai, Sharjah while the other days the games are in Pakistan. Pakistan will still get jam packed crowds on regular days

4. DRS and speed guns should be available for all matches in Pakistan.

5. Change Emerging players quota to minimum 1 emerging player and maximum 3 emerging players.

6. Play all UAE matches in Sharjah.

7. Dont travel too much; play all UAE matches first; then play all Pakistan matches.

8. Maintain a list of players not to be included in PSL. Those players cannot play in PSL in any way like draft or injury replacement. Include tested & tried failures into this list like Ahmed Shehzad, Umar Akmal, Mohammad Hafeez, Asad Shafiq, etc. Once a player is in this list he can never be removed

I would like to see following (not necessarily everything instantly)

1. Bring entire PSL in PAK - ESL, Phattichar ........ I don't care - bring it back home, where cricket belongs. Obviously, it has to be a collective effort for PCB, PAK & State Govt., Army ... but that should be first priority.

2. Increase the quality of foreign players. For that, may be they can start 2 things -
2a. Reduce quota of foreign players to 3 in playing XI - there are few foreigners in PSL, who are making XI for their passport, not for cricket; PAK has enough resources to cover that one foreign quota.
2b. Change in payment mood. I don't think, this fixed cap draft is helping in this regard. At the same time, franchises have to manage budget as well. May be for that, PSL can start separate draft for local & foreign players with foreign players in open bid (with a minimum base price). Teams should be given a cap for foreign recruits (may be in terms of % of total wage cap, so that local players' interest is protected as well - no point paying Talat $35K and AdV $1mn). Another way, for foreign players could be staggered payment - that's base wage for signing and then match fee for availability. The idea is that, AdV signs for PSL at $150K for the season - then on top of that, he is entitled to be paid say $35K/game depending on availability of selection (including injury). That means, AdV can earn up to $500K as base wage if he is available for entire PSL preliminary round; after that additional payment for Eliminator (if team qualifies). Team's budget cap is locked on pay-out (at the end of PSL), not on draft amount (that's team can book TOP internationals for token money and still can keep a good roster within budget). May be, unspent money (from cap) can be allowed to carry forward next year. In short, I am telling exactly the model they are using in BPL for foreigners, but if had I started mentioning BPL model, don't think rest part would have much face value there after.

3. FGS, take out that "emerging" quota - Misbah hasn't retired yet and this trend will become chronic. Every or almost every U23 player gradually will be put in emerging category for a ~$25K contract and seniors will enjoy Diamond, Platinum contracts for being "injured" till their 50s.

4. Put a age cap for the squad - may be average age for squad U29, for starting XI U28; 2 players in XI over 35; 5/6 over 29 including those 2 - these caps includes foreigners as well, so that obsolete Internationals don't use PSL to earn cheap bucks. If it's retired foreigners, it has to be like Watson or Ronchi.

5. UAE or PAK - PSL's wickets need to improve. They have bluffed people by making it 55 metres boundary, but there has to be lot more desired from wickets. If required, ask ICC to support with professional curators, but PSL games has to reach 170 per score on a standard 65 metre ground. Otherwise, posters might start to surprise why PAK players are hitting SIX at will in PSL ....... then Mian Malik is failing to clear Kiwi grounds almost every time, that too against spinners.

6. I would like to see PAK Captains in PSL, and young players as Captain - not 45 years old non playing Captains. People like Mac, Sammy can mentor young Captains in field, but the charge has to be shifted to a local player. I presume, there'll be some changes in squad - therefore, these are my ideal candidates -

IU: Amir - he needs to leave KK and head back to his own City. If not IU, he should move to MS and lead the side - KK isn't suiting him
PZ: Hasan
KK: Sarfraz (if he moves back to KK), or Babar
QG: Amin (If Sarfraz leaves)
MS: Ahmed :( or JK :(:( - or they can bring Amin/Amir and make captain
LQ: Fakhar

7. I would like to see PSL domestic tournament - preferably just before the draft, or during off season. Idea is simple - 6 PSL teams with un/little known U23 players, same format (10 games; but no eliminator - it ends at league stage) - this is the idea taken from NBA D League or the Second XI League in County. This will help teams to scout better and draft their final squad better.

8. PSL All-star - this is basically fan engagement; very similar to Fantasy league. Fans across globe can start online voting to select 22 players to form 2 teams and there can be a PSL All-Star game at mid point of the tournament. 2 teams can be in any dimension - North (Squad from IU, PZ, LQ) Vs South (KK, QG, MS) or East Vs West; or PSL Deshi vs Videshi; or Imran XI Vs Javed XI ........ PSL will appoint 2 Coaches and name the 11 X 2 squad 3 days before the All-star game - voters making 11 or 22 correct predictions should win prizes (may be attend the All-star game or PSL Final at a Corporate box).

Commentary, graphics, HD picture quality, stadium decoration ........ these are a function of economy of PSL - you get what you can afford. Obviously, PSL would be much better being played in Cow Boys' Arlington like Stadium, with Nasser, Chappell, Bish, Sunny, Athers, Tubby, Clarke .... analyzing the game, shown in 4K, UHD picture - but it'll be foolish to a white elephant, if the bi-weekly pay cheque doesn't suggest so.

MMHS PSL might die if Sammy isn’t captain of Zalmi...

My first question regarding the match was, is it in HD? I've been told no, so that is the number 1 priority. It's a joke that anyone in 2018 isn't using HD cameras. Secondly, cut the tournament down. 3 weeks should be more than enough, just because the other tournaments are long and milk the sponsors dry, doesn't mean you have to. The short the tournament, the more likely people will come and watch abroad.
Finally they must get rid of Ramiz Raza from the comm box, he gives us ear aches.

1.) Remove Ramiz Raja from the commentary box
2.) More matches in Pakistan
3.) Consider having pitches which would allow better batting conditions, more sixes would be nice
4.) Better graphics
5.) Create another franchise from the northern sides of Punjab (rural sides with Jatts)
6.) Transfers of some star players to another club

1 better coverage and commentators.
2 more young players.
3 no more oldies.
4 all captains un30 from pakistan.
5 shift it to pakistan.
6some frsh foreigners ike denly etc.

More games in Pakistan
HD coverage
1 player can't be an emerging players 2 years in a row
A quota on the amount of 34 plus year olds in a team
Signing players who are willing to travel to Pakistan
Ditch timeout. Focus needs to be on cricket.

1. Create an auction every year, with teams being able to retain a certain number of players. Adds hype and allows it so that teams don't fall behind, new edition should be a new start. For example Lahore especially has been paying for selection errors they made in PSL 1. Pretty much do it like IPL

2. Stream on youtube if possible.

3. If finals are in pakistan, allow foreign players to be picked up from teams that didn't make it to the final as replacement to foreign players who refuse to go to Pakistan. Would avoid the whole Quetta situation (who again are paying the price for selection guys in PSL 1 who didn't want to come to Pakistan).

9. Have an all-star game at mid point or at 60% completion of PSL regular games. The players of all-star game will be decided with 70% fans vote and 30% coaches. Have 2 days off before all-star game and 1 day off after all-star game.

Attempt to attract a higher calibre of players instead of TTF's
Improve the quality of graphics
Remove Ramiz Raja from commentary or presentation (Rambo makes too many mistakes)
Ensure all players signed will play in Pakistan
Add another franchise?

1. Auction for the platinum category players! Unfair for other teams that Qalandar get to choose the best available player every season. Keep the draft system for other categories.
2. Matches on weekend in Pakistan. Thursday and Friday in UAE. Reduce number of matches in Dubai. Better to play in Sharjah than without crowd in Dubai.
3. Youtube for live streaming.
4. Don't include any foreign player in the draft if he is not willing to travel to Pakistan or is only available for 1 or 2 games.
5. DRS and speed guns should be available for all games.
6. Launch an official fantasy league game.
7. Remove Ramiz Raja from the commentary panel (Not gonna happen. We don't have any decent Pakistani alternative)

For those saying they want better picture quality, take it up with your TV broadcasters.

Willow was great.

9. Have an all-star game at mid point or at 60% completion of PSL regular games. The players of all-star game will be decided with 70% fans vote and 30% coaches. Have 2 days off before all-star game and 1 day off after all-star game.

10. Allow trades between teams up to a certain point (may be up to 6th game each team has played). Trades has to match monetary wise with difference not more than 15% kind of like NBA.

11. Allow teams to sign free agents (players who were not in draft + players who went unsold in draft) up to a certain point (may be up to 6th game each team has played).

12. Setup minimum and maximum player budget limits for each team. Any team over maximum player budget will have to pay a luxury tax. Dont allow any team under minimum player budget.

Keep the ideas coming, I will send them to Najam Sethi with a covering email.

Will be really interesting to see what broadcast deal PSL signs in 2019 season. I believe it will be exponentially bigger than the current one.

There are so many high net worth Pakistani business owners both in and outside Pakistan whose personal wealths are close to $1 billion. The names of the following come to mind

1) Saddrudun Hashwani

2) Mian Muhammad Mansha Natt

3) Deewan Group Family

4) Arif Habib

5) Engro Corporation

6) Sir Anwar Pervez (London)

7) Shahid Khan (USA)

It may also be possible to engage and attract foreign rich businessmen from India, Arab states like Saudia Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and China to be PSL Franchise owners. These PSL Franchise Owners should ultimately be encouraged to buy out their respective regions, take complete ownership of the domestic regional teams and this way the goal of privitization of Pakistan Cricket at the grassroots can be achieved and the PCB can focus on just running the affairs of the PCB.

I believe the PSL can easily be number 2 and fingers crossed maybe even over take the IPL if we are very over optimistic. The goal should be a total of 16-18 teams and by selling those teams out at lucrative prices the PCB can get huge financial injections, cash flows where it will no longer be dependant on funds from the ICC, BCCI and this way we can take a strong stand when it comes to making foreign teams tour Pakistan with our held heads high

We can have the following teams from Punjab i.e. Lahore, Multan, Sialkot, Faislabad, Sarghodda

We can have the following teams from Sindh i.e. Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur

We can have the following teams from Balochistan i.e. Quetta, Gwadar

We can have the following teams from KPK i.e. Peshawar, Abbotabad, FATA

We can the Islamabad team

We can have a Bahria Town team

We can the following team from Kashmir i.e. Muzzafarabad

We can have a team from the Northern Areas like Gilgit, Baltistan

These are 18 PSL Franchises, the PCB can sell each Franchise at an astranomical higher price and can even rake in a total of $200 million from the sale of these teams per year from the Franchises. Even better for Pakistan Cricket is that this will allow more talent to be absorbed by the Franchises and more room for foreign players. The PCB will be able to create room for a PSL window in International Cricket just like the BCCI does with the IPL.

Let free market decide how much a player is worth and not pcb. If a franchise wants to give someone like shadab khan or faheem ashraf top level pay then let them decide that. Give power to franchises to pursue players they feel would make their teams better, this will also increase interest of fans who will speculate on the next trades for their team.

Bring in international players who commit to playing the entire season and make that clear to franchises.

Make the presentation ceremony more professional, the final presentation was a joke. I was watching the game with friends who don't watch cricket and don't know PSL much and although the game was very fun the presentation was a joke and embarassing. It seemed like a lot of it was forced and poorly planned.

1. Add 2 more teams.
2. Free live streaming on Youtube is a great way to capture new audience.
3. Remove players who have consistently failed in the first 3 editions.
4. Remove overage players.
5. Move at least 50% matches to Pakistan.
6. Give some matches to other cities like Multan, Peshawar, Pindi, etc.
7. All captains in PSL should be from the current Pakistani team.
8. Get better international players if possible.
9. Make flatter pitches.
10. Keep Ramiz to commentary box.

For me...

1) Bring at least one another Presenter for post match ceremony.

2) 2 partners for Zainab

3) Improve scorecard and score bar theme, (It was pathetic as compare to previous season)

4) Improve the design of jerseys (Only QG's kit was premium, although Zalmi degraded theirs)

5) For Multan Sultans they should provide symmetric Pads and Helmets for the players mostly helmets were local and of different colors such as Sangakara's and the other ones with the Stickers on it.

6) There should be more international Umpires or experienced rather than locals as there were alot of errors made during this season

7) Kick Asad Shafiq, Shehzad n all of the crap

Co-ordinate the opening and closing ceremony better.

Add Abu Dhabi as a third venue in the UAE

Allocated matches to stadiums in a more smart way. No stadium should host matches for more than two days in a row, crowds are already low and holding matches in a single stadium for 6 days in row will not help.

Coordinate with broadcasters to make sure make sure broadcast quality is up to the standard required. PTV and HUM TV in the UK had terrible broadcast quality.

Hold matches an hour or so earlier in the Pakistan leg of the tournament. People begun leaving the stadium before the match ended.

Rehearse and better organise the post match presentation. It’s a bit of a mess right now with players not sure where to go and what do. The presentation in the final was far to long and was a mess.

Have a special award for emerging player of the tournament

Arrange transport for Dubai especially as ground is far from populated areas

Prize money for a talent discovered who later on plays for Pak like Haris Rauf. (Those players who havent played at first class or under 19 level)

A Big Lol.

18 teams... Keep playing for 6 months.

I don’t think anyone has mentioned this but they could really improve the trophy.

The current trophy looks fine but it isn’t really iconic. It doesn’t really look like like a sports trophy. That’s why I think the PSL could take inspiration from other trophies such as the World Cup, IPL, NFL to name a few.

All of the tournaments mentioned above have quiet iconic trophies and we can probably learn a lot from them.

Remove TTFs like Umar Akmal, Shehzad, Zulfi cobra, Saad Nasim, Shafiq Technique and Ramiz Raja the commentator but none of this will happen.

Multan will probably buy Umar Akmal at silver category or something.

Remove tharki cameramen
Maximum 2 foreign player per starting 11 & 4 per squad(only pick them if they are willing to come to Pakistan)
Minimum 3 emerging players per starting 11,2 u21 & 1 u25
No behooda dancers pls replace them with local folk singers or traditional musical instrument players ie bansury sitar
Get rid of strategic time out
Rameez fan but Want to see a fresh face doing presentation surely some1 in Pak can come in
Start a U19 PSL to run alongside the main event for Pakistani youngsters
Last but not least we need an Azad Kashmir team

In next psl every team MUST play an emerging batsmen and 2 local uncapped batsmen. These 3 players must be the most talented batsmen in Pakistan and MUST play every game. That is 18 batsmen from which 3 or 4 will fullfill their potential.

Pitches MUST be batsmen friendly so they can play to their potential.

If Sohail Akhtar, mukhtar Ahmed and shahzaib hasan played every game in psl on batting freindly wickets and had as much game time as Asif Ali then no one would be talking about lack of batting talent.

If everyone's complaining that there's no batsmen coming through, why not change the rules in next psl for better results?

Free entry for spectators at the UAE stage of the tournament. It won't cost the PCB much and will promote the tournament.

Don't need any wholesale changes. Don't fix what isn't broken.

Just need to increase the salary cap to attract bigger names. And focus on further improving the broadcast quality for now. Umpiring standards need to improve as well.

Which bigger names didn't play in the PSL because of the money?

Which bigger names didn't play in the PSL because of the money?

I'm not sure but more money is bound to attract bigger names. At least you won't see the likes of Bravo and Mitch Johnson give PSL a miss just so they could be ready for the IPL which pays more.

I'm sure it will be much easier for the guys who are responsible for recruiting players for the draft to get more players to sign up with more money on offer.

Ramiz recently said that we should introduce the auction system in the PSL for that very reason.

These are some of the thing I don’t lik3 about PSL as a neural cricket fan.

1) dandruff gimmic. It’s so irritating and embarrassing to see people do that move infront of camera.
2) I am ok with empty stadium and slow pitches, but 50 yard boundaries to make the overall total artificially over 150 is childish and imho fooling the fans who are watching these games.
3) too many retired players like sanga, pieterson, Watson, mccullam, misbah, etc playing in thi# league and psl projecting them as stars. I don’t min$ young or local talent projected as stars.
4) some of the things like time outs, players jersey color, showing team owners reactions every over, etc copied from rivals league. Could have been different or avoided.

Do you know who/what Swarovski is? The trophy is amazing....

They are an international jewelry company. What else did you expect from them? Aap landay bazaar say trophy leh ayen :kakmal

Bhai, I know who they are as I have been forced many times to buy jewelry from them (as they are somewhat in the mid price range but still carry a reputation) to placate the Mrs after a fight. There is a difference between elegance and gluing as many different colored stones as possible on a specific area. It is however my personal opinion though.

Asal mai, yeh trophy Landa bazaar sai hi khareedi hui lagti hai.

I think the tournament is alot of fun and doesn't need alot of changes. The only changes that'll make are:

1. Better umpiring, there were atleast one or two major umpiring howlers in each match - thank God for DRS

2. Speed gun for every single delivery and not just one or two balls in an over

3. Better graphics and more entertaining coverage such as when a batsman walks in he says his favourite shot, think we had that in one of the WCs was a really nice touch

4. Every so often a player should be given a headset so that he can commentate while in the middle, I think BBL does it and its alot of fun - certainly better than Zainab talking to people who don't know ABC of cricket.

5. To facilitate development of new batsmen, all teams must have atleast one emerging player in their top six.

Ofcourse having Swarovski on board is great, but we could definetly still improve it a bit because the trophy still doesn’t look like an iconic sports trophy.

The star and crescent moon look great so maybe we could use that design to make something more fitting for the prize of a top tier sports tournament.

Introduce a Division 2 PSL consisting of 6 teams ( Hyd, Abtbd, Fsd, Skt, Sukkur, Mardan ). Exclusively pak players, preferably from unpicked pool of main drafts.

Each Prime franchise take up 1 team from division 2 and emerging players for respective franchises should be coming through their PSL Division 2 teams.

For the franchise brand, Div 2 teams may have same logos.

Thanks for the suggestions, they have been sent to Najam Sethi.

Can we get a summary of which suggestions you forwarded to NS?
