Suggest ways/plans to get Virat Kohli out

Bowl well and hope to god the pitch is not flat (or Sri Lanka).
He does not have that many hundreds outside the disgraceful pitches we get in Asia.

Not exactly an impossible task.

where they are going to play they will defo get a flat pitch.

Get the ball to to bounce high from Good Length (Irfan) around off stump and Kohli will nick it.

Kohli has a bad habit of running the deliveries around off stump to 3rd man with angled bat. If the balll bounces a bit higher than he expects, its curtains for him.

Junaid did him in India series with great swing and movement at high pace. Aus conditions will not suit Junaid Khan.

Irfan will be the guy who will dismiss Kohli in WC. If Irfan cannot dismiss Kohli, Virat will score big.

im with u bro great analysis. no.batsman likes to play fierybouncers. that is the only way to get him out. get him nick it to the keeper.

kohli and rohit both will be a threat to pak

No chance of getting his wicket all world cup so we can forget it in the first match of the world cup.

Anderson knows Kohli's weakness. He probed Kohli with immaculate off stump line bowling. Kohli left the first few, but could not resist to poke after that.

Kohli is an attacking batsman. Keep him quiet for a few deliveries and bowl a probing off stump line and you get his wicket. A little bit of help for bowlers from the curators can also work.

Ways to get Kohli Out is to keep bowling Half Volleys just outside the Off Stump and let him hit 3-4 Fours. Then, bowl a similar ball, but this time with a slightly Greater Speed. He will surely try to whack that one thrugh the covers, but this time the timing will be OFF, the bat will not come down in time and edge will fly to the slip cordon or the Wicket Keeper. That is how it happened in England a few times !!!

I think its been long since people lost confidence in JK

He is cornered tiger now, same situation as Wahab had before 2011 SM. And also Kohli is his bunny. So if he si fit to play, expect a good performance.

Kohli is an attacking batsman so if you can keep him quiet for 3-4 overs (that is a big if, though) he may get impatient and throw his wicket away.

Junaid getting the better of Kohli is like Razzaq getting the better of Tendulkar.

Means nothing, because Junaid isn't half the bowler Kohli is as a batsman.

How to get kohli out?

A) Create a bouncy pitch
B) Create a seaming pitch
C) Get Jimmy Anderson
D) All of the above

Personally i have seen kohli getting out when the ball is close to his body and he plays with horizontal bat. either he edged it to the keeper or play a false pull shot.

keep the ball as close to him

That's a great plan, but it would require another thread on "How do we score 100+ on such wicket". :uakmal

Why are Pakistani fans so scared of Kohli? Bar the Asia Cup knock they have managed to get him cheaply on nearly all occasions.

LOL no one is scared of kohli. I am shaking in my boots because a skinny 130 lb man is gonna score some runs...

Get Dhawan and Rohit out early and make him face a fairly new ball in swing friendly conditions.

I think Pakistan will focus too much on Kohli and somebody like Rayudu or Raina might steal the show. There are 5-6 other batsmen too. And even if Kohli fails, MSD can Judge Dredd the opposition himself.

If we had a bowler who could get the ball swinging it both ways especially away from Kohli we can get him early. He himself must have it in the back of his mind that his performance vs Pak hasnt been anywhere near to the standard he has set. And he could be be anxious to set that straight and poke at a few wide ones like the Asia Cup 2014 game

Only Anushka can help us to get him out early

Throw the ball at him while pretending to hit the stumps. That might annoy him and make him play some loose shots. Of course it could also focus him to make him score a ton. Risk reward and all that.

It's not that he is someone invincible. He is extremely calculative, focused & aware of his weakness. If a batsman with quality has the apatite to score as much as possible & put value to his wicket, it 'll be difficult to get him out, unless forced to.

How to get him out? I can't tell about the technical part of it, but can analyze some situational context. Personally, I feel more comfortable to put Kohli in batting first situation. Because of India's relatively weaker bowling, he often isn't sure about what could be a good score. MS did it every time in NZ & I would have done opposite of that on Sunday as well - if PAK wins the toss, put IND to bat first. Virat 'll be out of his comfort zone. Virat starts his innings cautiously (around 15 min) to get an idea of the pace & bounce, then he starts to build innings. Bowling first, I would have put a full attacking fielding & ask my bowlers trying to get him out, at least for 5 overs.

One of the biggest mistake is think that Virat's innings is built on stroke play. Absolutely wrong - his game is entirely based on singles. He keeps rotating strike, keep within touch & waits for the bad balls. Obviously, there are very few who can match his shot selection, minimizing the percentage shots. If a brilliant calculative mind, with all sorts of strokes in armory starts playing with a target in mind, a good way could be to get him out of comfort zone - restrict his singles, if required, put 6 men inside & force him to go for boundaries. It's the biggest mistake to take the game till 50th over against Virat & MS, 2 of the best ever calculative minds. If PAK is to defend a total (Obviously it has to be 325+, on that Dhaka wicket, IND has 3/4 players who can chase sub 300 total, Virat 'll not be required), I would plan to win or loose in 45 overs - keep attacking fielding, catching men, restrict singles & force to go for boundaries & bowl to get batmen out. If Virat survives, IND 'll win in 45 overs, but if he gets out PAK 'll win. Last thing 'll do is a calculative mind game till 50th over with Virat (& MS). Particularly, with some of the dumbest cricketers on earth (sorry for my French, but yesterdays' chase was a dumbest one, today Virat & Rahne showed how a No. 3 & 4 should chase sub 300 totals on these wickets under light against a relatively weak bowling with just 1 penetrative bowler).

Sorry for my long post.

Is the plot working?

Give Moeen Ali a Pakistani passport and you've got him already.

Has Ajmal ever got Kohli out in ODI cricket?

Don't know, but he has the best figures for a spinner against India, ever. Plus, I'm pretty sure he'd get him out a couple of times if he faced him right now.

pretty simple to get anyone out, get your basics right and hold on to the catches!! kohli is no different, he's been treated as if he's invincible, there was one such guy close to invincible sir don, rest are mere mortals...

get the ball to do something and the angry hero will look clueless and will pretty much be useless.

With his current action Ajmal wouldnt trouble Kohli that much.

The guy is the best looking Indian batsman in the history of Indian cricket, in terms of looks :kohli
Finally India produced someone who can join the league of Handsomeness :afridi

These guys look decent enough to me, even if they lack afridi's hair:afridi

This thread is to discuss the ways how to get out Kohli not a modeling contest.

Nice way to get us distracted.

Ridiculous thread, Kohli ain't Bradman lol. A little bit swing in the pitch and he is a walking wicket against pacers.

If there is swing, then nick him off/LBW/bowled. Otherwise, run him out and pray that Rohit doesn't hit a 150. :sree

It is pretty easy, all that you need to accomplish this is listed below:

- One decent pace bowler.
- Swing or seam movement.
- Keeper and slips who can catch.

Combine all three and Kohli will nick one to the keeper or slips playing a loose drive or backfoot cut-shot. He's very weak against the moving ball.

In tests, it is even easier because Kohli usually gets out after scoring a century even on flat pitches. Doesn't have the temperament to make those really big scores.

Btw who not struggle against moving ball? Even Amla's most of good innings comes after a drop early stage :amla

300 posts on how to get Kohli out...I hope the management are as thorough as this!

Bowl on off stump with a little bounce going away. When he is new he gives a chance to slip if you ball 3 to 4 balls on his pads in first over he faces forget about getting him out in whole inngs

nah man not good enough. Patuadi more handsome than Kohli, forgot about him. Pataudi and Kohli. Shastri looked like a taxi driver. Ganguly typical accountant and Dhoni, nah man. Kohli is Kohli.

1) Kohli
2) Saif Ali Khan's Father

Even Dravid looked good in his hey days

But then he will score 70+ runs per innings before getting out, pakistanis want to get him out cheaply :yk2 :maqsood

He means only for one over to get kohli over confident and careless. Then bring the real bowlers to take advantage :yk

Put in two slips and have Aamir bowl towards the off stump line to get Kohli to knick to either the keeper or slips.

Simple....keep a spread out field.... I am sure between 16 to 20th over there might be a mistimed shot to deep midwicket or longon/long off in pursuit of quick runs :afridi

I shudder to think the damage he would have already done if he were to stay not out till the 16th over.

Really? Is it a mystery anymore? After how Anderson exposed his off side weakness every bowler is aware how to get him out. If I recall correctly, Gul got him out in similar fashion in last WC.

Best way is to sledge him. Umar Akmal should be stand at silly and be designated the role.
