Rashford's £40m transfer hope

Marcus Rashford believes Manchester United would be prepared to sell him for £40m to anyone this summer, not just Aston Villa.

The 27-year-old joined Villa in February in a loan deal that included a £40m option-to-buy clause.

The clause does not prevent any other club signing the forward, whose short-term contract with Villa expires on 30 June.

Manager Unai Emery has confirmed Rashford will not play for Villa again this season as he has yet to recover from the hamstring injury he suffered in the build-up to last month's FA Cup semi-final defeat by Crystal Palace.

The England international is ineligible for Villa's final game of the season against his parent club at Old Trafford on 25 May.

While Rashford is understood to have enjoyed his time working under Emery and had a significant impact on Villa's run to the Champions League quarter-finals - where they were narrowly beaten by Paris St-Germain - there have been no negotiations over a permanent transfer.

Villa still harbour realistic ambitions of a top-five Premier League finish, which would secure a return to the Champions League next season. It would also put them in a better position to broker a deal, considering sources close to Rashford stress he has no intention of taking a pay cut from his estimated £325,000-a-week salary.

The Rashford camp do not believe United head coach Ruben Amorim wants to restore the player to his squad, while minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe previously spoke about his frustration at some of the team's high earners not being on the pitch.

It has echoes of 12 months ago, when Jadon Sancho finished the season with Borussia Dortmund following a major public falling-out with then-manager Erik ten Hag.

An uneasy peace was brokered by senior club officials between player and manager that at least allowed Sancho to be part of United's pre-season preparations, but the England forward was overlooked for the opening Premier League games and eventually joined Chelsea.

It is not yet clear whether Chelsea will pay a £5m fee to send Sancho back to United, rather than pay the agreed £20m-£25m to sign the 25-year-old.

As it stands, sources close to Rashford expect him to return to United for pre-season training in July. United have a match against newly promoted Leeds in Sweden on 19 July before they head to the United States for three games in the Premier League's summer tournament.

They conclude their preparations against Fiorentina, who have former United goalkeeper David de Gea in their ranks, at Old Trafford on 9 August.

Real Madrid are set to sign Bournemouth centre-back Dean Huijsen after agreeing to pay the defender's £50m release clause.

The Spain international, 20, is close to agreeing personal terms with the La Liga club, turning down a number of offers to remain in England.

Madrid will activate the release clause in Huijsen's Bournemouth contract, which he signed less than 12 months ago.

The fee will be paid in three instalments, with Huijsen's two former clubs set to receive a slice of the fee - Juventus are due 10% and Malaga 5%.

BBC Sport has been told by multiple sources the deal is progressing with a full agreement expected soon.

Real wanted to complete the signing before next month's inaugural Club World Cup in the US.

Huijsen had as many as seven offers on the table, and had attracted interest from Premier League clubs Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Newcastle.

Huijsen has chosen Real and will return to Spain where he grew up, playing for Costa Unida CF academy in Marbella and Malaga's youth team.

Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso, who is set to replace Carlo Ancelotti as Real manager, has been instrumental in the decision to sign the defender and prioritised signing a young centre-back.

Huijsen joined Bournemouth from Juventus last summer for a fee of £12.6m.

The Netherlands-born defender has made 34 appearances in all competitions for the Cherries this season, scoring three times.

Huijsen is set to become Madrid's second signing from the Premier League this summer, with Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold also set to move to the Spanish capital.

Huijsen was subject of an international tug-of-war between the Netherlands, where he was born, and Spain, where he was raised.

He opted to play for Spain, and made his debut for the 2024 European Championship winners against the Netherlands in March 2025.

Spain manager Luis de la Fuente, who gave Huijsen his international debut, says the defender is "ready" for the move to the Bernabeu.

"I see him - if nothing gets in the way - as capable of playing for any team," De La Fuente told BBC Sport.

"I don't see any limits. Huijsen is having a great season in the Premier League and is ready. I'm sure he'll keep improving with time, naturally."

Liverpool's Kelleher set for £18m Brentford move

Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher is set to move to Brentford after the clubs agreed a £12.5m fee for the player, rising to £18m in add-ons.

The Republic of Ireland international, 26, is seen as a replacement for the Bees' number one Mark Flekken, who is heading to German side Bayer Leverkusen.

The Bundesliga club have agreed a fee of about £8m for the 31-year-old Dutchman.

Kelleher has a year left on his contract at Anfield but Valencia keeper Giorgi Mamardashvili will join the Premier League champions in July to compete for the number one shirt with established first choice Alisson Becker.

Kelleher has played in 25 Premier League games for Liverpool since making his debut five years ago.

He has also played in more than 40 cup games for the club, which means he has won two Premier League titles, the Champions League, FA Cup, two League Cups and a Uefa Super Cup in his time at Anfield.

Netherlands international Flekken joined Brentford from German side Freiburg for a reported £11m in May 2023.

He had kept more clean sheets than any goalkeeper in the Bundesliga over the previous two seasons and has only strengthened his reputation while at Brentford.

Flekken has played in all but two Premier League games over the past two seasons, registering 14 clean sheets and three assists.

Here are some of the headline moves made since this mini-window opened on 1 June:

Manchester United agreed a deal with Wolves for the signing of Brazil forward Matheus Cunha after activating his £62.5 million release clause.

Brentford signed goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher from Liverpool to replace Mark Flekken, after the Dutch stopper joined Bayer Leverkusen.

Chelsea completed the signing of striker Liam Delap (pictured) from Ipswich Town for £30m, fending off competition from Man Utd, Newcastle and Everton.

Teenage defender Mamadou Sarr joined Chelsea from partner club Strasbourg for £12m.

Veteran midfielder Jorginho departed Arsenal for Brazilian club Flamengo on a free transfer.

English defender Lloyd Kelly completed a £20m move from Newcastle to Juventus, following a loan spell in Italy last season.

Manchester City signed Wolves left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri for £31m.

Chelsea have £42m Gittens bid rejected by Dortmund

Chelsea have had an offer worth more than £42m for English winger Jamie Gittens rejected by Borussia Dortmund.

The 20-year-old already has a seven-year contract on the table and is thought to be keen on a move to Stamford Bridge.

But the two clubs are struggling to meet in the middle on their valuation despite the England Under-21s international not fitting into the system of manager Niko Kovac, who joined the German club in February.

The latest rejection casts doubt over whether Gittens will join Chelsea in time to take part in the Club World Cup, with a first transfer deadline for the competition approaching on Tuesday evening.

Chelsea have not ruled out further approaches for Gittens after the deadline, but also have interest in Manchester United's Alejandro Garnacho and West Ham's Mohammed Kudus.

Rayan Cherki: Manchester City complete £34m deal to sign attacking midfielder from Lyon

Manchester City have completed the £34m signing of attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki from Lyon.

The 21-year-old has signed a five-year deal until the summer of 2030.

Cherki contributed 12 goals and 20 assists in 44 games in all competitions for Lyon last season.

£400m spent but who made early moves in mini transfer window?

After a busy 10 days in which £400m was spent by Premier League clubs, the transfer window has officially closed - six days before it opens again.

This summer has seen an unusual, two-part transfer window to allow clubs to sign players for the Fifa Club World Cup which begins on Sunday, 15 June (01:00 BST).

The window will open once more on Monday, 16 June, before closing on Monday, 1 September at 19:00 BST for Premier League, EFL and Scottish Premiership clubs.

Fifa rules state transfer windows cannot last more than 16 weeks in a calendar year, hence the split this summer.

Manchester City and Chelsea are the two Premier League clubs competing at the Club World Cup in the United States, but any team from a league with sides at the tournament could participate in the window.

So who made their early moves?

De Bruyne completes Napoli move after Man City exit

Kevin de Bruyne has completed his move to Napoli after the Belgian midfielder left Manchester City at the end of the Premier League season.

De Bruyne will link up with former Chelsea and Tottenham manager Antonio Conte, who is head coach of the Italian champions.

In moving to Italy on a free transfer, De Bruyne rejected an offer from Major League Soccer club Chicago Fire, and the switch means he can play in the Champions League next season.

Napoli announced the signing of the 33-year-old with a computer-generated image, external of De Bruyne sitting on a throne wearing a crown, captioned "King Kev is here".

He left Manchester City after 10 years at the club, winning 19 major trophies after joining from Wolfsburg in 2015.

Liverpool agree £40m deal to sign Kerkez from Bournemouth

Liverpool have agreed a £40m deal to sign left-back Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.

The 21-year-old Hungary international is set to join the Premier League champions after two seasons with the Cherries.

Bournemouth have already signed Adrien Truffert from Rennes as his replacement.

Liverpool's deal for Kerkez comes with the Reds close to completing a club-record £116m move for Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz.

They have also signed Dutch right-back Jeremie Frimpong from the German club for £29.5m.

Serbia-born Kerkez began his senior career at Hungarian side Gyor before a move to Italian club AC Milan.

He failed to make an appearance for the Serie A outfit before a switch to Dutch team AZ Alkmaar in January 2022.

He helped AZ Alkmaar finish fourth in the Dutch top flight in 2022-23 when he scored five goals and provided seven assists in 52 appearances.

The Eredivisie side also reached the semi-finals of the 2022-23 Europa Conference League before being beaten by eventual winners West Ham.

Kerkez joined Bournemouth in summer 2023 when Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes worked for the Cherries.

He played all 38 league games last season as Bournemouth finished ninth with a club-record 56 Premier League points, with Kerkez contributing two goals and six assists.

Kerkez, who has made 23 appearances for Hungary, will join compatriot Dominik Szoboszlai at Liverpool.

His expected arrival at Anfield leaves the future of Reds left-backs Andy Robertson, who has been linked with Atletico Madrid, and Kostas Tsimikas unclear.

Liverpool are keen to retain Robertson and allow current back-up Tsimikas to leave, but they acknowledge that 31-year-old Scot Robertson may want to move on in search of regular football.

Liverpool sign Leverkusen's Wirtz in £116m deal

New Liverpool signing Florian Wirtz says he wants to "win everything every year" at Anfield after the Germany playmaker joined from Bayer Leverkusen for a club record £116m.

The 22-year-old has signed a long-term deal with the Reds, understood to be five years, which will keep him on Merseyside until at least 2030, after completing a medical at the club's training ground on Friday.

The deal, which includes a guaranteed £100m and a further £16m in add-ons, tops Liverpool's previous club record signing of Virgil van Dijk for £75m in 2018.

Should those add-ons be achieved, Wirtz's move to Anfield would become a British transfer record to beat the £107m Chelsea paid Benfica for Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez in 2023.

Wirtz, who scored 57 goals in 197 Leverkusen appearances, is Liverpool's second major signing of the summer and the club's second from the Bundesliga runners-up following the arrival of Dutch right-back Jeremie Frimpong for £29.5m last month.

Man Utd make improved £60m bid for striker Mbeumo

Manchester United have submitted an improved bid of more than £60m for Brentford striker Bryan Mbeumo.

This month United had a bid rejected for the 25-year-old of £45m plus up to £10m in add-ons.

Talks over the Cameroon forward, who would become the club's second signing of the summer, are due to continue this week.

Following the £62.5m capture of Matheus Cunha from Wolves, United are keen to further strengthen Ruben Amorim's squad before they return for pre-season training on 7 July.

New Tottenham manager Thomas Frank was keen to be reunited with Mbeumo, while there has also been interest in the forward from other Champions League clubs.

Sources have suggested Brentford would want at least the same fee as Wolves have received for Cunha before they agree to the sale of a player who still has a year left on his contract.

As with Cunha, Mbeumo's Premier League experience is viewed as a major positive as Amorim needs players who can hit the ground running as United look to make a more positive start to the season than their three sluggish efforts under Erik ten Hag.

Mbeumo scored a career-best 20 goals for Brentford last season, while he also contributed nine assists to the Bees' cause.

An international colleague of United goalkeeper Andre Onana, Mbeumo is likely to miss four weeks of the 2025-26 campaign because of Cameroon's participation in the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Cameroon play Gabon in their opening group game on 24 December.

The renewed move for Mbeumo comes as the future of Alejandro Garnacho is once again the subject of intense debate after he posted an image of himself wearing an Aston Villa shirt with the name 'Rashford' on his social media channels.

Fellow United outcast Marcus Rashford responded to the post with a 'my brother' message to the Argentina forward, who has been valued at £60m after being told by Amorim to find another club this summer.

Arsenal in talks to sign Valencia defender Mosquera

Arsenal are in talks to sign defender Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia.

The Gunners want to make a defensive signing this summer and the 20-year-old Spaniard, who can play at centre-back and right-back, is emerging as their favoured option.

Arsenal have shown interest in Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace, but the England international may be reluctant to join given that he may find opportunities limited behind Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba.

Spain Under-21 international Mosquera has made 90 appearances for Valencia and was a regular in the team last season, playing 90 minutes in 37 of the club's 38 La Liga games.

It has been a busy 24 hours for Arsenal, who are also on the verge of completing a move for Brentford midfielder Christian Norgaard.

A fee worth up to £15million has been agreed and the Denmark international is set to undergo a medical.

Arsenal are also imminently expected to complete the signing of goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea.

Meanwhile, 18-year-old Myles Lewis-Skelly signed a five-year deal at Emirates Stadium on Thursday.

The full-back made 39 appearances for Arsenal last season as he established himself as a regular in Mikel Arteta's side.

Fellow defender Gabriel also signed a long-term contract earlier this month.

Burnley sign Tuanzebe on free transfer from Ipswich

Burnley have signed centre-back Axel Tuanzebe on a free transfer following the expiry of his contract with Ipswich Town.

Tuanzebe made 45 appearances in all competitions for the Tractor Boys and was influential in their promotion to the Premier League during the 2023-24 campaign.

The 27-year-old made 22 top-flight appearances last season and has decided to remain in the Premier League with newly promoted Burnley rather than sign a new deal with Ipswich.

The DR Congo defender has reportedly, external signed a one-year deal at Turf Moor and becomes head coach Scott Parker's third summer signing.

He follows Netherlands left-back Quilindschy Hartman and goalkeeper Max Weiss to the club.

Man Utd's improved Mbeumo bid rejected by Brentford

Manchester United have had an improved bid of £55m plus £7.5m in add-ons for Bryan Mbeumo rejected by Brentford.

The Red Devils had a bid of £45m plus up to £10m in add-ons for the Cameroon forward turned down earlier this month.

Chelsea agree deal worth £60m for Brighton's Joao Pedro

Chelsea have agreed a fee worth £60m to sign forward Joao Pedro from Brighton.

The 23-year-old is expected to sign a seven-year contract and could be available to play in the Fifa Club World Cup.

Joao Pedro is flying in from Brazil to conduct a medical in the United States and could make his debut in Friday's quarter-final tie against Palmeiras (BST 02:00) in Philadelphia.

Newcastle were also believed to have been interested in the forward with Brighton known to have rejected two bids from two unnamed Premier League clubs before they agreed terms of £55m, plus £5m in add-ons, with Chelsea.

The move follows an agreement with Borussia Dortmund to sign their English winger Jamie Gittens for £55m on Saturday, just hours before Chelsea beat Benfica to reach the last eight of the Club World Cup.

However, the 20-year-old Gittens cannot be involved in the tournament for Enzo Maresca's side, having already featured for the German club.

Joao Pedro, meanwhile, joins after delivering 30 goals and 10 assists in 70 matches over a two-year spell at Brighton following a then-club record £30m move from Watford in 2023.

Seagulls manager Fabian Hurzeler left him out of their final Premier League match of the season against Tottenham due to a "small issue" .

Arsenal sign goalkeeper Kepa from Chelsea for £5m

Arsenal have completed the £5m signing of goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea.

Spain international Kepa joins the Gunners on a three-year deal after spending last season on loan at Bournemouth, where he made 35 appearances.

"I'm really, really happy to be here, really excited and looking forward to what is coming," he said.

"The ambition that is shown in this club, when I talk with Mikel [Arteta] and Inaki [Cana], how much they show me their desire to win... I think we are so close to winning and, hopefully, altogether, we can achieve it."

The 30-year-old is still the world's most expensive goalkeeper, having moved to the Blues in 2018 from boyhood club Athletic Bilbao for £71m.

His arrival at Emirates Stadium will provide competition for compatriot David Raya.

Neto was on loan at Arsenal from the Cherries during the 2024-25 campaign but they elected not to sign the Brazilian on a permanent basis.

Kepa played 163 times for Chelsea and was in the squads that lifted the Champions League, Europa League and Club World Cup.

He also spent a year on loan at Real Madrid and helped them win La Liga and the Champions League during the 2023-24 season.

Everton target Tete signs new deal to stay at Fulham

Fulham right-back Kenny Tete has signed a new deal to keep him at the club until 2028, ending speculation about a move to Everton.

The 29-year-old was out of contract at Craven Cottage and had been expected to join the Toffees.

But he has instead signed a three-year contract with the club he joined in 2020.

Tete said, external: "I'm really happy to have signed, for myself and for my family, and I hope I can give more for the fans in these three years.

"After my first year I knew this was a family club, a really special club where I can develop. I want to be part of this group and hopefully we can push for more."

Everton's sole signing this summer to date is the permanent deal for Carlos Alcaraz after a loan spell from Brazilian side Flamengo.

Leverkusen sign Quansah from Liverpool for £35m

Bayer Leverkusen have signed defender Jarell Quansah from Liverpool in a £35m deal.

The 22-year-old centre-back has joined the German Bundesliga club on a five-year contract.

Quansah was part of the England side that won the European Under-21 Championship by beating Germany in the final on Saturday.

His move is the third deal between the clubs this summer after Liverpool signed midfielder Florian Wirtz and defender Jeremie Frimpong.

Newcastle wanted to sign Quansah last summer, as part of a deal to send winger Anthony Gordon to Liverpool, but the Reds turned down the proposal.

As Quansah is a homegrown player, the fee Liverpool received from Leverkusen will be recorded as 'pure' profit with regards to profit and sustainability rules (PSR).

Quansah came through the Liverpool academy and made 58 appearances for the club, scoring three goals.

He helped the Reds win the League Cup in 2024 and made 13 league appearances last season as Arne Slot's side won the Premier League.

"He has already made an impressive impact in a Liverpool defence dominated by world-class players," said Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes.

"With Jarell, our defence gains significant dynamism, pace and toughness in tackling, and he's another very important building block for the future."

Liverpool are interested in Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi, amid uncertainty over Ibrahima Konate's future.

The France centre-back has 12 months left on his contract at Anfield and is yet to agree an extension, while Joe Gomez's future is also unclear.

Everton close in on signing Villarreal striker Barry

Everton have moved closer to reaching an agreement with Villarreal over signing France Under-21s striker Thierno Barry.

The 22-year-old has a £34.5m release clause with the Spanish club and is understood to be keen on a move to Merseyside.

Barry scored 11 goals and provided four assists in 38 games last season as Villarreal finished fifth in La Liga to qualify for the Champions League.

He would join as a replacement for striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin who left Everton upon the expiry of his contract this week.

Forward Armando Broja also exited when his loan ended, returning to Chelsea without the deal being made permanent.

Barry was born in Lyon and left French club Sochaux aged 19 to play in the Belgian second division with Beveren.

The following season he moved to Swiss Super League club Basel, before joining Villarreal in August 2024 in a deal worth about £13m.

"Our club has reached an agreement with both the club and the player for Jhon Duran to join our squad on a one-year loan," said Fenerbahce in a statement.

"We wish our player a season full of success under our striped jersey."

Duran, who has three goals in 17 internationals for Colombia, joined Villa from Chicago Fire for £18m in January 2023.

He scored 20 goals in 78 games for the club, but 61 of those appearances came from the bench, with Duran unable to regularly displace England striker Ollie Watkins from the starting line-up.

He helped Al-Nassr finish third in the Saudi Pro League last season. While he is leaving, Portugal striker Cristiano Ronaldo is staying after signing a two-year contract with the club last month.

Fenerbahce, who are managed by Jose Mourinho, finished second in the Turkish league last season.

Newcastle agree £55m fee for Forest winger Elanga

Newcastle United have agreed a £55m fee with Nottingham Forest for Sweden winger Anthony Elanga.

Sources have told BBC Sport the deal could be completed this week.

Newcastle are seeking to strengthen their attacking options as they prepare for their return to the Champions League following a fifth-place Premier League finish last season.

The 23-year-old scored six goals and produced 11 assists for Nuno Espirito Santo's side during their successful 2024-25 Premier League season.

Newcastle have yet to pay a fee for a player this summer, with 18-year-old Spanish winger Antonio Cordero the only new arrival on a free transfer from Malaga.

Kudus, who has an £85m release clause, joined West Ham in a £38m deal from Ajax in 2023. He has made 65 Premier League appearances for the club, scoring 13 goals and providing nine assists.

At least six top clubs have enquired about Kudus in recent weeks but well-placed sources told BBC Sport the 24-year-old had prioritised a move to Spurs.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are also exploring a move for Brentford forward Yoane Wissa.

Gibbs-White set for £60m Spurs move medical

Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White is set to undergo a medical at Tottenham on Friday before completing a £60m move.

Well-placed sources have told BBC Sport the 25-year-old has a £60m release clause, which Spurs are set to trigger with the formalities of his switch to accelerate in the next 24 hours.

Gibbs-White, who has four England caps, was on Manchester City's radar this summer but Pep Guardiola's side have cooled their interest.

He scored seven goals and added eight assists in 34 Premier League games last season, and has attracted interest from a number of England's top clubs in recent months, but Spurs have stepped up their efforts to sign him.

Gibbs-White is set to follow Anthony Elanga out of the City Ground with Forest agreeing the latter's £55m sale to Newcastle earlier this week.

Spurs, who appointed Thomas Frank as new head coach last month, are also set to sign Mohammed Kudus from West Ham for £55m and have an interest in Brentford attacker Yoane Wissa.

Gibbs-White joined Forest from Wolves for a then club-record fee of £25m plus add-ons in August 2022, on a five-year deal. He has made 118 appearances in three years at Forest, scoring 18 goals and providing 28 assists.

Arsenal close to signing Chelsea's Madueke for £50m

And the clubs have now reached an agreement in principle over a fee, with the finer details needing to be finalised.

Madueke, 23, is currently part of Chelsea's squad at the Club World Cup and came on as a substitute as the Blues reached the final of the competition after beating Brazilian side Fluminense 2-0.

He has played 92 times for Chelsea since joining them from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023 and scored 20 goals.

Madueke was in Tottenham's academy before spending four and a half years in the Netherlands.

England midfielder Jordan Henderson is set to sign for Brentford after his exit from Ajax

The 35-year-old will join the Bees on a two-year deal after the Dutch club agreed to end his contract a year early.

Henderson had considerable interest from top clubs in England and Europe but Brentford have won the race to sign the former Liverpool skipper.

Playing in the Premier League will provide Henderson with the platform to stay in Thomas Tuchel's England squad before next summer's World Cup.

The 84-cap England midfielder will help plug the gap vacated by former Bees captain Christian Norgaard, who has left for Arsenal.

The deal formalities are expected to be confirmed in the coming days.

The move to Brentford will return Henderson to the Premier League after he left Liverpool in 2023.

During his 12 years at Anfield Henderson won the Premier League - the club's first league title in 30 years - Champions League, FA Cup, two League Cups, Club World Cup, Uefa Super Cup and Community Shield.

Henderson left the Reds to join Al-Ettifaq but his time in the Saudi Pro League lasted less than six months before he joined Ajax in January 2024.

He made more than 50 appearances for Ajax but exited the club having narrowly missed out on the league title, with PSV Eindhoven crowned champions on the final day of last season.

Henderson was left out of Gareth Southgate's Euro 2024 squad, as he had not played for England since 2023.

After Tuchel's appointment as England head coach in January, Henderson has featured in both of the German's squads, making three appearances.

Newcastle confirm £55m signing of Forest winger Elanga

Newcastle have completed the £55m signing of Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga.

The 23-year-old Sweden international will add to Eddie Howe's attacking options as they prepare to return to the Champions League following a fifth-placed Premier League finish last season.

Sources have told BBC Sport that a club-to-club deal for the Sweden forward is now in place with just minor details left to resolve.

All parties are working towards the signing being completed in time for Gyokeres to travel with the Gunners to Asia for their pre-season tour at the end of the week.

The offer, inclusive of add-ons, is an improvement on Arsenal's previous proposal of 70m euros (£60m).

Gyokeres, 27, has already agreed terms on a five-year deal.

Newcastle bid for Ekitike; Liverpool want Isak

It is not often supporters are worried by rumours their club might be about to break their transfer record.

But that is what is happening among some Newcastle United fans, with the Magpies moving for Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike.

Newcastle's initial bid of £70m has been turned down by the Bundesliga club as the Magpies seek to agree what would be a club-record deal to land the coveted young forward.

With Premier League champions Liverpool also in the market for a central striker and known to have firm interest in Newcastle's Alexander Isak, it is inevitable some are drawing a certain conclusion.

BBC Sport understands the Premier League champions have made a move towards a deal for the Sweden striker in recent days. They have also explored the parameters for other centre-forward targets.

According to sources, it is believed a package to sign Isak could cost up to £130m - and the Magpies have been steadfast in their stance that their superstar striker is not for sale.

Those who know Newcastle believe they are trying to build a multi-layered attack capable of quickly switching tactics.

Those who know Ekitike, who has also been linked with Liverpool, know him as a versatile forward capable of scoring from all sorts of positions.

Newcastle have maintained throughout the summer that their top players - and Isak is certainly one of those - are not available for transfer.

So would Ekitike be a partner for Isak - or is there is a danger he could be his replacement?

Man Utd make third bid for Brentford's Mbeumo

Manchester United have made a third bid for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo that could be worth up to £70m.

The offer is understood to be an initial £65m, with £5m in add-ons.

Brentford are yet to respond to the offer.

United have remained confident about getting Mbeumo and had been hopeful of adding the Cameroon international to Ruben Amorim's squad before they head to the US on Tuesday for three pre-season games.

Although United have been strongly linked with Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson and Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez in recent days, it has always been the priority at Old Trafford to get the Mbeumo deal done in time for Amorim to work with him in the Chicago, where United will largely be based for their 13-day trip.

The 25-year-old scored 20 Premier League goals last season and a number of clubs were interested in him, including Tottenham, now managed by former Brentford boss Thomas Frank.

However, Mbeumo's preference was to join United.

Brentford's other main goal threat, striker Yoane Wissa, is the subject of interest from Newcastle.

Man Utd agree £65m deal to sign Brentford's Mbeumo

Manchester United have had a £65m bid for Bryan Mbeumo accepted by Brentford.

The Cameroon international could undergo a medical with the club before Ruben Amorim's squad fly to the United States on Tuesday for their pre-season tour.

The 25-year-old winger is set to become United's third signing of the summer after the arrivals of forward Matheus Cunha and left-back Diego Leon.

United submitted their first bid - worth an overall £55m - at the start of June.

They failed with a second bid of £62.5m at the end of that month.

But the Bees are satisfied with United's latest offer, which is worth an initial £65m and could rise to £70m with £5m of add-ons.

Mbeumo, who joined the Bees in 2019 from Lorient, will become Brentford's biggest ever sale.

A player hitting his peak?
Mbeumo recorded career-best figures in the Premier League last season for virtually every attacking metric, including goals and assists, chances created and touches in the opposition box.

With a shot conversion rate of 23.53%, only Mohamed Salah and Alexander Isak were more clinical in front of goal.

His work out of possession in key areas should also be noted. He won the ball back 32 times in the opposition third, ranking him third out of all Premier League players.

But perhaps Mbeumo's unique selling point is his running threat with the ball at his feet. He was responsible for nine carries of more than five metres which directly ended in a goal being scored in 2024-25 - comfortably the most of any Premier League player last season.

Arsenal complete £48.5m signing of Madueke from Chelsea

Arsenal have completed the signing of England winger Noni Madueke from Chelsea for an initial fee of £48.5m.

The 23-year-old was part of Chelsea's squad at the Club World Cup in the United States but left the camp before last Sunday's 3-0 win against Paris St-Germain in the final to finalise his move to Mikel Arteta's side.

Madueke has signed a five-year contract at Emirates Stadium, with his fee rising to just over £50m with add-ons.

"Humbled and blessed to be here. Thank you to everyone that made this possible," he wrote on Instagram.

"I can't wait to get on the pitch and start to repay the faith shown in me. It's going to be so special."

He made 92 appearances for Chelsea after joining from PSV Eindhoven for £30m in January 2023 and scored 20 goals, helping them win the Conference League last season.

He was part of Crystal Palace and then Tottenham's academy before spending four-and-a-half years in the Netherlands, where he won the Dutch Cup.

Madueke made his England senior debut in August 2024 and set up Harry Kane's winner as Thomas Tuchel's side defeated Andorra 1-0 in World Cup qualification last month.

Longstaff joins Leeds from Newcastle in £12m move

Newly promoted Leeds United have signed midfielder Sean Longstaff from Newcastle for £12m plus potential add-ons.

The 27-year-old, who had one year left on his contract at St James' Park, has signed a four-year deal.

The move ends an 18-year association with Newcastle, having come through the ranks at the club.

"I think from the first time I spoke to Leeds, I got a feeling that they really wanted me," Longstaff told LUTV.

"It just fills you full of confidence and it just makes you want to repay those people. It is a massive, massive football club - similar to Newcastle in a lot of ways.

"It was going to take a lot for me to leave Newcastle to be honest and I wasn't just going to leave to go anywhere so it had to be the right place for me and my family and I think this is a perfect place.

"Every time I came to play at Leeds the atmosphere was amazing, it was always bouncing and a really tough place to play, and [I'm] just looking forward to having that on my side rather than having to play against."

He made 214 senior appearances for the Magpies, but played only 787 minutes for Eddie Howe's side in the Premier League last season - mostly as a substitute.

Longstaff also made five appearances in the Carabao Cup last season, but was an unused substitute as Newcastle defeated Liverpool 2-1 in the final to win their domestic trophy in 70 years.

Leeds had already agreed personal terms with the English midfielder but had an offer of £10m rejected by Newcastle earlier this week.

Longstaff is Leeds' fifth signing this summer following the arrivals of defenders Sebastiaan Bornauw, Jaka Bijol and Gabriel Gudmundsson as well as German forward Lukas Nmecha.

Daniel Farke's side will begin their Premier League campaign at home to Everton on 18 August.

They play Manchester United in a pre-season friendly in Stockholm on Saturday, before further friendlies against Villarreal and AC Milan in August.
