New Delhi: Suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma cannot be arrested in the nine cases against her over her comments on Prophet Muhammad, the Supreme Court said today. The court asked various states to respond to her request to combine multiple FIRs against her into one.
The Supreme Court will take up Nupur Sharma's request on August 10 and until then, no new cases can be filed.
Delhi, Maharashtra, Telengana, West Bengal, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Assam are the states that have been asked to respond to her case.
Nupur Sharma's lawyer told the Supreme Court that she had been facing increasing threats to her life since the court's scathing order on July 1.
"There is ever increasing threat to her safety. No amount of security could help her. Whatever happened in Supreme Court last time may have happened. But there is a real and genuine threat now. In Bengal also there is an FIR against her," said Nupur Sharma's lawyer Maninder Singh.
After the July 1 order, she pleaded, there had been instances like an Ajmer Dargah employee threatening on video to slit her throat and another UP resident abusing her and threatening to behead her.
"More FIRs have been registered in Bengal and the Kolkata police has issued a look out circular against her due to which she apprehends her immediate arrest and denial of opportunity to approach different High Courts to seek the quashing of FIRs," the lawyer said.

"On July 1 we had given liberty to the petitioner to seeking other legal remedies. But now she points out that it's become impossible for her to seek other legal remedies. And there is an immediate need to protect her life and liberty," the judge said.
In the July 1 hearing, the Supreme Court had said Nupur Sharma should apologise to the country for triggering tension with her comments.

Nupur is an absolute stupid for causing the ruckus. If disturbing the peace is a crime in India, she should be in jail. It's not ignorance either. We all saw the sensitivity of this issue in France and as an official spokesperson she should know better.
But one thing seems very clear now. One can remove the "victim" posturing of Muslims with a single comment. There was a widespread uproar from most communities against Nupur initially. After the beheading, there is absolutely none. The entire debate turned to Islam and beheading. It's that easy.

That beheading and the killing of another man in Maharashtra and the stabbing of another in Bihar has totally turned the tide. Now its more about how can muslims threaten and take the law into hand like this and what should be the steps that other communities have to take.

Nupur only wasted her entire life for a bit of publicity. Now she will have to spend her entire life on the run looking over her shoulder. Even if she ever goes abroad will never feel completely safe anywhere. Her drivel just wasn't worth the massive price she has paid giving up her freedom plus piece of mind.

Hmmm ... pretty much. She has been provided security since that incident, and does not go anywhere without them. Unfortunately, she'll need security for the rest of her life.
She deserves it. If she is so brave now then come on TV and make similar comments. Lets see if the RSS defend her. She's now living like rat in a hole unable to enjoy natural life. Naseerudin Shah even said no Muslim made any comments against Hindu God's, Goddesses or deities that she was supposedly reacting too. In today's world with the social media we have to be careful with our words.

Rajasthan HC grants bail to 2022 Udaipur tailor Kanhaiya Lal murder accused Mohammed Javed
The Rajasthan high court on Thursday granted bail to Mohammed Javed, one of the accused in the brutal killing of Udaipur tailor Kanhaiya Lal in 2022.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had arrested Javed from Udaipur on July 22, 2022. On June 28 that year, a tailor named Kanhaiya Lal was beheaded by Riyaz Attari and Ghous Mohammed at his shop for supporting former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Nupur Sharma's controversial remarks on Prophet Mohammed.
The accused captured the brutal killing on their mobile phones and also issued a threat to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The duo posed with the knives used in the killing. They were arrested hours after the crime that day.
According to the NIA, Javed had played a crucial role in the murder conspiracy by conducting a recce and passing on information about Kanhaiya Lal's presence at his shop to both Attari and Ghous Mohammed before the killing.
According to a Hindustan Times report, the conspiracy to kill Kanhaiya Lal through an ISIS-style beheading was hatched on June 20.
Kanhaiya's killer Ghous Mohammed had told the interrogators that the decision to kill the tailor was taken at a meeting, but those who attended the huddle are denying that any such move was discussed.
Ghous Mohammed said that he volunteered volunteered to decapitate Kanhaiya Lal with others present agreeing to provide legal, logistical, or financial support to the families of the murderers after the crime.

Something Hindus don’t have the guts to do. They live in your country and yet have the courage to make blasphemous comments about your religion and will slit your throat if you said anything about their religion. But you as a Hindu are just more concerned with projecting a secular Muslim loving image. Every proud nation protects its indegenous culture and people from foreign religions. Not in Bharat. Here Muslims roam free, eat beef in public, mock our gods and openly expresss their wish for Islamic caliphate upon our country but no action is ever taken against them.

I don't think the actual killers will get bail given they confessed on camera.
