What's new

Taj Wali - Pacer from Peshawar

I don't know his exact pace but he was getting the ball through. We're not spoiled for choices, desperately need swing bowlers.

We're not? I thought we are according to another thread :D

He is okay but wont be a big improvement on what we already have

Swinging the new ball straight away.

Inswing seems to be his stock delivery.

He needs to pitch it up a bit. Too short for my liking at the moment.

But he has that ability to swing it both ways, which all of our current pacers lack.

Even Amir wasn't getting this movement in the air today :P

Don't have any expectations but there is no harm in giving him a go v Zimbabwe.

He is a good bowler. Gets more bounce and swing then zia ul haq and is more accurate. He and mir hamza are in competition for one spot in Pak senior team.
Taj Wali is a slower version of dirk nannes but a good thinking bowler it seems.
Wish him well.

Good thinking? His ball is swinging and the pitch has no bounce and he keeps on pitching it half the down the Pitch!

Doesn't seem to have a brain.

He is not experienced enough.
Every bowler can have a bad day where he misses his length or bowls with the seem not upright.
He bowled well in the pentamgular cup where he was among the top 5 bowlers who impressed most.
so don't get worried by one match.
Remember mohamaad asif's first test match after which he was dropped.
Taj Wali usually anticipates what the batsman will try to do reads bataman's mind . It may be his off days today or hope he will recover soon inshaAllah

Hes got Talent , for sure.

KPK bowlers are obsessed with bowling short, all thanks to their hero Umar Gul.

Are there also Lahore bowlers and Karachi bowlers who are all the exact blueprints of each other ? :akhtar

Saw him for the very first time today. Absolutely not impressed. Insha'Allah he will bounce back in the next game.

He made a good comeback against Malik after hit for a six. In the start those short deliveries were unnecessary. Has good pace though. Looking forward to his performance against Lahore Lions especially if they face off.

Taj Wali hype is getting smacked

He has bowled poor lines and deserved to be smacked.

People hype and rate him for his ability to swing the ball. He does that under these conditions too.

Man Pakistan bowling is not what it used to be... Pretty ordinary these days

A lot of bowlers can swing the ball in domestic cricket but swinging the kookaburra ball is a totally different proposition. Remember Usman Shenwari? He was swinging it miles in domestic matches but couldn't get it to move an inch in international cricket.

He moves the Kookaburra :D

Was good in the Pentangular Cup recently held. They had kookaburras.

Taj Wali is unique in the sense that he can swing the Kookaburra both ways on Pakistani pitches, so one can probably assume that he will enjoy conditions that assist swing bowling (England, SA).

However, like Rahat Ali - who can also swing the ball both ways (at a faster speed), his problem is intelligence. He is extremely prone to bowling either too full or too short. Even if he bowls a perfect in-swinger to the right-hander, and the batsman barely manages to avoid getting hit on the pad, he won't bowl that same delivery again, he'll try something different and get smacked for a boundary.

Never trust bowlers from KPK. We don't produce quality here.

Took 2 wickets today, both bowled and one of the victims was Umar Amin. He seems to have a nice smooth action, line and length was accurate and was swinging the ball (unsure what type of ball was being used though.)

Anyways no point in getting my hopes high as PCB selectors probably are not even aware of him and even if they are then they would select mediocre Anwar Ali.

What did his pace look like?

Putting him vs. International players would also make him look very mediocre.

Still a better option than Junaid Khan

If I had to place a bet who I would choose, I would choose someone whos more experienced and has gotten the job done. If after he fails then you can give someone a chance but you don't know that beforehand.

When we first looked at this guy a year or so ago then he was a 130-135kph bowler who could swing it . I am impressed by his development and I feel he is near international selection , guys don't underestimate haroon Rashid the selector . If taj keeps bowling so even in this tournament 2 more times only ( that's required ) then he will be picked for either srilanka series or tri series or both .
When I saw him in pentangular and now , what is the difference ? He is more aggressive at crease and follow through and his pace has increased by 5 to 7 kph overall then say 12months ago . These are positive signs . He gets good bounce and swings it as well . For me he is ahead of mir hamza now in the ladder for selection . Far far better then current junaid and at par with rahat Ali .

I watched this youtube vid of Taj Wali bowling, it was Peshawar Panthers V Sialkot Stallions...he seemed to be 78 - 82 mph.

He's a very good prospect as I've always maintained, don't know why Waqar isn't noticing him.

Much better than the mediocrity that we have in Anwar and now Junaid.

I've never seen Taj bowl, but you have to be pretty poor to be worse than Anwar Ali. Surely he is
Better than him but Anwar brings his 'bits and pieces' batting to the table aswell.

I don't really take notice of pace but if I am to compare it to a bowler in terms of pace, then perhaps Rahat.

Rahat bowls 140kph so I hope your assessment is close to the mark as that is decent pace to work with. Junaid Lhan revved his pace U when he joined the team (before series of injuries) so that would be a good starting point for Taj Wali.

I would say he is Rahat's 'average' rather then his 'top' pace. He has potential to be faster though.

Some excellent bowling again by one of the best domestic bowlers in Pakistan.

Wicket less so far, but even Misbah giving him respect. Few more overs left.

How was he today?

I could only see him bowling couple of balls in his last over.

Taj Wali and Majid Ali, 2 bowlers who are swinging ball in this tournament. Showing handsome pace as compare to others. But if i have to pic one, i will go with Taj Wali. All other good bowlers like Mir Hamza e.t.c they are failing with Kookaburra ball.

lets hope waqar and co noticed as they have been keeping a close eye on this tournament!

Where we can see video of Taj bowling?

Is there a place on net, where somebody is posting the whole spell of these bowlers, specially Amir?

Bro i have posted a lot of videos about these. In last match i have posted Amir bowling detailed video comprise of 13-14 deliveries.. No place on net, apparently they upload only wickets. But i have uploaded spells of M.Amir

Peshawari Dirk Nannes has fell apart considerably.

Coming season very important for him.

Figures of 2-27 vs PTV.

PSL model has 8 teams but they are increasing 1 every year but i think they should have 7 teams in 2018 and then 8 in 2019 so that guys like Taj wali get into any squad

Rawalpindi Region 302-7 in 50 overs: (Azhar Ali 104, 111 balls, 9x4s, 1x6, Umar Amin 81, 88 balls, 6x4s, 2x4s, Iftikhar Ahmed 38, 36 balls, 6x4s, Taj Wali 4-43)

Peshawar Region 305-2 in 47.3 overs: ( Israrullah 150, 125 balls, 14x4s, 5x6s, Asad Shafiq 102*, 89 balls, 10x4s, 2x6s, Sahibzada Farhan 40, 66 balls, 4x4s, 1x6, Attaullah 1-62 )

Only bowler who has done well in this Batsman dominated game

He really deserves a look in by the selectors. He's got a strong bowling action, generates a fair bit of speed and can swing the ball both ways.

Taj Wali took 4-12 & 4-42 against Pakistan Navy in the semi-final of Patron's Trophy Grade-II.

An opportunity for Taj Wali to impress:

Akif Javed, who sustained a knee injury during his side’s match against Sindh on 11 October, has been replaced by Taj Wali, who took six wickets in five matches at 21.83 of the Second XI National T20 Cup.

What speed does he bowl at seems like a decent swing bowler thou

Northern made 259 for six in 76.4 overs before declaring the innings after Muhammad Huraira and Abdul Faseeh made 65 and 94 and put 148 runs for the first wicket. With 73-ball 42, Umar Amin was the next best run-getter in the innings before he was bowled by Taj Wali, who also sent Huraira, Aamir Jamal, Mubasir Khan and Mehran Mumtaz packing to record his 17th first-class five-wicket haul.

Balochistan's Taj Wali takes a 11-for in a match against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, #QeAT 2021-22, round-nine.

With figures of 5-91 against Northern, Taj Wali picked up the 19th five-wicket haul of his first-class career
