So, I was looking at the record number of consecutive unbeaten series at home for different teams in test cricket.

Following are the unbeaten series streaks that stand out.

1. Australia (28 consecutive series unbeaten at home from 1993-2008)

2. West Indies (16 consecutive series unbeaten at home from 1974-1995)

3. Pakistan ( 16 consecutive series unbeaten at home from 1982-1995)

4. India ( 14 consecutive series unbeaten at home from 2004-2012)

5. England ( 13* consecutive series unbeaten at home from 2014-present)

6. New Zealand ( 13 consecutive series unbeaten at home from 1980-1991)

7. India (12* consecutive series unbeaten at home from 2013-present)

So from the above, it can be seen that Australia was the most dominant home side ever from 1993-2008 with an unbeaten streak of 28 series, followed by the West Indies from 1974-1995 and Pakistan from 1982-1995, both of whom had a 16 series unbeaten streak.

Note: * denotes a streak which is currently active. England currently are on a 13 consecutive unbeaten series run at home, while India too is on an active 12 series unbeaten streak at home.

We have lost only 3 series in over 3 decades at home.

Just to add, India's current streak of 12 is the longest winning streak by any team at home. Australia, West Indies, Pakistan went undefeated longer but had a few series draws in between. Last team to get a series draw in India was South Africa in 2010.

India beat Bangladesh by an innings and 46 runs in the second and final Test at Eden Gardens to register its 12th consecutive series win at home, which is the longest streak for any side.

The previous best was 10: Australia achieved it twice: 1994 to 2001 and then between 2004 and 2008. India's unbeaten streak began with the 4-0 win in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2012-13.

India is on a 12 series unbeaten streak currently. Good chance for them to surpass Pakistan and West Indies's unbeaten 16 series streak.
Another thing to note for home domination is how many series has one lost in a particular period, say a decade or more. We are far better than Australia in that aspect.

Even during our worst days in '90s, we lost just 1 series at home, at the fag end of that decade.

You are right, but if you look at Australia's 28 series unbeaten streak from 1993-2008, they had 25 series wins and 3 drawn series. Similarly, West Indies's 16 series unbeaten streak included 14 series wins and 2 drawn series. Pakistan's 16 series unbeaten streak included 12 series wins and 4 drawn series.

Yes, Australia since December 2008 have lost 6 series at home. Before that they didn't lose a series at home for 16 years though.

Current India team can extend their home series win to 20+ quite easily. I’m sure they can even challenge Australia’s 28 series record.

Quite easily? Nah, if it was so easy, Aus/WI would have done it as well. Sooner or later, a series draw can happen in India if not a series win for visiting teams. Fantastic run so far, but it's not easy.

Looking at current teams struggle outside their comfort zone doubled with India’s home dominance, it wouldn’t be that difficult to win another 7-8 series wins. I just don’t see any of the current teams pose a challenge in India. Heck even ROW XI will struggle to beat India in India.

A drawn series is fine. Australia's unbeaten 28 series streak too includes 25 series wins and 3 drawn series.

To be honest, India has to play badly to loose at home. No team has enough fire power right now to dismantle India at home

Most surprising team in this list is NZ, coz historically, they haven't been that strong at home, so going 13 consecutive series undefeated at home is a big achievement for them. I doubt that even the current Kiwi side can surpass or even come close to this record.

Hard to see India's win streak get broken unless there's a 2-test series that gets drawn 1-1 or something. Teams play poorly nowadays away from home.

I was responding to continuous series wins. It's much harder to do because the other team just has to draw.

A shorter series with some rain can result in a draw. Aus almost won in India if Pujara has not played that knock, so even a win is not out of question.

Current Kiwi side has 8 consecutive series undefeated at home now. But it's to be seen if they can win against Aus and SA and go past 13 mark.

Yes, this current Kiwi side has won 8 series on a row on home soil, but I am not sure, they can avoid defeats against OZ and SA, the next time, they play them at home.

Kiwis have the bowling to beat both these teams , I am pretty much confident about this.

This will be tight. India have England at home which I believe they should win or draw at the very least draw, after that I am not sure but looks like it could be Australia...that would take them to 14 unbeaten, which means they only need two more unbeaten home series to equal Pakistan. I think that is feasible but to get to Australia is seemingly impossible.

India will go up to 20 series unbeatable. Its hard to beat india in india.

You never know....England beat India in 2012 and they were not a fancied side and India were arguably way more experienced and better back then. But who knows.

Both England and India are currently unbeaten at home. England's streak is 13 series and India's streak is 12 series.

So the question is whose streak will last longer, India's or England's ?

England unbeaten streak includes multiple drawn series whereas India’s include dominant series win. England have high chances of dropping a series than India.

Indian team in 2012 was carrying lot of passengers whereas current team is blend of youth and experience. Even second Indian XI will thump England in India.

I agree, Can India break England's unbeaten streak at home later this year? England have got New Zealand and India touring this summer. Will be interesting to see, if England can retain their unbeaten record at home this summer.

Oh, I certainly do not think the current England side can beat India...although second XI is going overboard.

That team which first faced up to England in 2012 contained Tendulkar, Sehwag, Dhoni and lesser versions of Pujara and Kohli, but Kohli was already fast becoming one of the best young test bats around (2 centuries against NZ and Aus just before this)...while England were fielding part time bowlers Bresnan and Patel...latert hey would have Monty who all of a sudden transformed into the greatest spinner on the planet.

So things can go wrong quickly. Never get complacent.

New Zealand could very well beat England tbh, as they are only playing 2 tests. Will be difficult for India to beat England tho, coz its a 5 match series.

That team had over the hill passengers which is why people like Sehwag were shown the door. Monty and Swan were great spin combo and Anderson had great series. All in all England clicked while Indians were lethargic which had all grandpas. But current team is young and talented as we saw in Australia. England have Bess and Leach LOL as their spinners who couldn’t even dominate unknown SL batsmen on spin tracks. If you think they can trouble Indian batsmen on possibly flat pitches then I really have nothing else to add.

Can England end India's 12 series unbeaten streak? I would say tough but England have a decent chance.

So, 13th consecutive series win at home for India. India closing in on WI and Pak's record of 16 consecutive series unbeaten at home.

There's a slight difference. All the teams mentioned above had unbeaten streaks. Meaning they never lost a series during that particular streak.

India's streak is unique in that they have won 13 series on the trot, that's just ruthless bullying. I wonder what's the list for continuous series wins streak at home.

That was not consecutive win record, there were many draws in between.
You can call 16 unbeatable series at home but not consecutive.

This thread is about unbeaten series streaks, not series winning streaks. Read the thread title first.
