Can New Zealand end India's unbeaten Test series win record at home?

Can whitewash forced india to change the captain before BGT and dropped Rohit and Kohli along with KL

Nah too late for that. Best we can hope for is for the management to grow a pair and force these guys to retire after this season.

They can and they should. Its pathetic batting effort from India in the last two tests. It was not so great even during BD series, but was masked due to some great turnaround. Overall this team will get humiliated in Aus. For future sake India should lose this series so that we can get rid of some of the most non performing assets like KL, Kohli, Rohit, Siraj and such. We should also put players like Gill on toes.

As long as our mass (people) don't stop worshiping cricketers (filmstars, politicians, etc) as demigods nothing will change!

Somebody will be made scapegoats (e.g., Sarfaraz, Akash Deep... might get dropped) and the situation will continue... They will give the excuse saying Australia series overseas series, we need experience, so they will retain all of them... In fact you can expect Pujara/Rahane to be called back... This is how they will think...

I'll take pujara over Rohit for Australia series .

Hard to believe before the start of the series but with every passing day NZ inching close to this goal.

Even if they take Pujara, Rohit will remain... Pujara will be ineffective (and pressurized) if he sees Rohit, Kohli, etc, losing their wickets cheaply... He can be effective if young guys (like Gill, Jaiswal, Pant, etc) play positively... (like he did last tour). So ideally only 1 out of Pujara / Kohli / Rohit should be there in the team... And yes I would prefer Pujara over these 2... At least he has test-instincts (not drained by IPL/T20 demands)

It seems it struck twice, well let the test ends but likely result is NZ series win unless Indians pull some ATG chase.
India/Pakistan banter aside I really do think this series ( if India go on to lose) is a bigger surprise and sporting upset than Bangladesh beating Pakistan.

May be but less of surprise after NZ was 1-0 up after first test. India has dropped tests on turning tracks time to time. I would have not expected NZ to win 2 out of 2 tests on turning tracks but one test, sure. Not very high chance but some chance to win one test on turning tracks. That's why I was not so pessimistic of NZ chances after they were 1-0 up.

Both ongoing series is good for cricket. Too much attention to Ind-Aus series in recent years.

Kohli (when he was captain and was not performing as a batsman) did the biggest mistake of backing & getting shielded by Pujara, Rahane, Rahul, Rohit... He thought that these guys will anyhow perform similarly (or lesser) than him, so that his non-performance gets little or no criticism... That was the time to groom younger batsmen into test lineup, but it didn't happen. The younger batsmen coming up would have outshined Kohli, and eventually his place in the side would be insecured... Kohli didn't want this to happen... and we are facing the consequences now! A smart NZ team saw the loopholes in the Indian team and they exploited it handsomely (finally some visiting team did this), previous teams (Australia tried, England tried... but they couldn't reach it. Now Indian test cricket is completely decayed, even the pace bowling attack has got weakened with Shami, Ishant, etc, fading away)

This is what happens when players decide & run the scheme...

And it is not hard to find quality test batsmen in India! Pant (W/K batsman) has done that! So there are many others who might be capable, but they won't get the chance... Pant got the chance because he had no competition (W/K batsman slot).

Sadly our super-is-stars are the reason for cricketing failures (team failures)... 90% of Australians don't know who is Ricky Ponting (perhaps), but the full management & board were aware of all his strengths & weaknesses (his progress) and they knew how to utilize him & when to discard him! That's the key!

New Zealand on verge of glory but at the same time they are in a vulnerable position too if the wickets fall early tomorrow

3 days are enough to chase it down if players play with maturity. India have made 450+ in last Test too under pressure.
Time is not an issue here at all. India will simply get bowled out.

I don't think India has chased big total on turning tracks in 4th innings in recent years. You have to go way back.

Yep what you and Devadwal are saying is realistic but let's not forget the recent Indian dominance and the Gamball against Bangladesh

India should lose this. We played poorly so result should reflect the same.

I think India will definitely bat with more maturity. You will notice that instead of getting bowled out at 106 like in first inning, they will bat better and probably get bowled out at 180-190 in final inning.

Kiwis will try to bat out India today. Not thinking about declaring anytime soon.

Kiwis are definitely ahead in this game and well on their way to beat them

Pitch is horrible, always hated the Pune venue. Amazing city .. nice location but always crappy for Indian team.
It will need mighty guts from 9 batsmen with Kohli being a walking wicket.

India are back in the hot seat.

Win the test and then on to win the series.

Seems like kiwis fluffed it.

This, their the nicest team by far. And have no haters. Literally none.
Throughout the 90's till now, I've never seen any Kiwi player act the slightest unprofessional on the field. They are the nicest team in world cricket till date by a very long way.

Nathan Astle used to be a big time favourite of mine during the 90's :)

Well played NZ. Better team won the series. Match was already done once NZ had 300 plus lead.

India should prepare a road in Wankhede. Let their batting lineup feast and score 600+ so that they can regain confidence and spend time in the middle.

They shouldn’t worry about taking 20 wickets on a road because we have been told that Ashwin, Jadeja and Bumrah are GOATs who don’t need assistance from the pitch so they should be able to bowl NZ out cheaply on a road with their batsmen scoring big runs.
